✿ CHAPTER 55 ✿
The ceremony had already begun when we began looking for Leonard. I tried calling him, but his phone was switched off.
I was scared because of what that woman said to me. Did she do something to Leonard?
"Miss Amelia...I know he'll be around somewhere. Why don't you return to the ceremony? I'll look for him," Assistant Theo said, adjusting his glasses.
"But, I-I'm worried"
"Amelia!" I heard a voice call out to me, It was my mom and dad
"Mom, Dad!" I hugged them.
"When did you get here?" My dad asked with a smile
"Not too long ago"
"You look so pretty tonight, Amelia...look at you." My mom beamed a smile.
"Thanks, Mom, thanks, Dad...but I need to get going, I have-"
"Where are you going? Come with us...the chairman has arrived!"
"You mean..."
"Yes, Mr. Leonard's father," My dad smiled
Oh no!!
"But I-"
"Miss Amelia...you can go back, I'll take care of things from my end," Assistant Theo said, bowing slightly to my parents before hurriedly walking away.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, Dad, come on, let's go," I smiled as I got in between them, walking towards the main event.
"Oh my, you look stunning!" My mom said again
"Thank you, mummy," I chuckled.
I was stunned, he was a tall elderly man with incredibly long legs...he had a white beard and grey hair, his face a little wrinkled, he also had a rigid frame like someone who was once with the army in his early days.
I felt a little nervous when approaching him...he was chatting happily with other businessmen, their laughs rich and flowing like honey.
"Mr. Harold," My dad greeted with a polite smile
He turned around with a smile
"Magnus!...you're here"
"How are you?" They exchanged handshakes
"Good evening, sir," I greeted politely
"Hello there," He smiled warmly at me
"Is this your wife and daughter?" he shook My mom
"Yes," My dad smiled
"That's amazing!"
"By the way, where's Leonard?"
"I'm just arriving...I thought he'd be here by now."
"people are beginning to talk...where's his damn assistant?"
"I saw him at the-"
"No!..." I raised my voice, interrupting my dad
"Amelia, what's wrong?" My mom whispered to me.
"I...uhm...I need to use the bathroom, like right away." I ran off immediately...I had to look for Assistant Theo.
I had a bad feeling something was gonna happen, but I couldn't figure it out.
I felt eyes on me while walking, but when I looked around, I found people chatting and laughing...nothing unusual, right?.
But I know what I felt, like an eye was watching my every movement...waiting for the perfect time to strike.
When I walked into the parking lot, I bumped into someone.
"Oh, hi," the man before me said
I looked up to find this handsome man, he had blue eyes...a real 'blue eyes'...I found it creepy.
His figure loomed over me, he was thin and tall with a weird smirk on his face.
He tilted his head when he caught me looking at him weirdly.
"Something on my face?" he pointed to his face with a smirk.
I shook my head "No...I'm sorry, please excuse me-"
"What's your name, pretty girl?" he blocked my path with his tall figure
I was running out of time, I had to look for assistant Theo.
"Going somewhere?"
"What does it have to do with you?" I looked up at him.
He chuckled, "Feisty, huh...I like that"
I frowned
"Now, why don't you be a good girl and tell me your name, hmm?" His voice dropped lower
"I have no interest in telling you my name," I glared at him. I was losing my patience.
His gaze darkened as he stepped towards me slowly with a dark glint in his eyes.
I was scared, "Stay-stay away from me"
"You look somewhat...familiar," he smiled
"I haven't seen you before," I said, trying to escape him.
But when I turned around to run away, he grabbed my hair and tugged me down.
"I knew you were familiar...Amelia," He whispered in my ears, a creepy look on his face
I was terrified. How did he know my name?
"No, no!...let me go!" His grip on my hair tightened, tears in my eyes
"I don't plan on letting you go now that I've got you," he chuckled darkly as he pulled me
"AHH!! No!!" I cried out
"Crying is useless, this is the parking lot, no one can hear you, so be a good girl and keep shut!"
His gaze turned cold as he kept dragging me by the hair towards a black SUV.
I tried struggling out of his grip, but the more I struggled, the more his grip on my hair tightened.
I was scared for my life, I didn't know this man, and yes, I thought he was going to kill me.
"Please, I beg you! Let me go!" He pulled me up and slapped me hard across the face.
"Can you just shut up!!" he growled.
More tears fell from my eyes. Why was no one here? Why was no one here to save me?
A cruel smile formed on his face when he saw my tears.
"I've waited so long to kill Leonard...but before I kill him, I'll make sure to hurt him...to bring him unbearable pain!"
"And you? You're the one to cause that pain...I'll kill you, but not yet."
My eyes widened in shock...I was gonna die? Leonard was gonna die?
I wasn't ready to die just yet, I wasn't ready to lose my family, my loved ones....and Leonard, I wasn't ready to lose him just yet.
The thought of Leonard dying brought more tears to my eyes
"What have you done to him!! Where is he!" I screamed as tears welled up in my eyes.
He laughed maniacally
"You want to see him, huh? Of course I'll take you to see him...to say your last goodbye," he smirked.
I clenched my fists as I glared at him...I couldn't let him hurt Leonard, I couldn't let him take him away from me.
And just when I was about to lunge at him, I gasped, feeling my world crumbling down.
I felt an indescribable pain on my chest...a pain I've never felt before, a strange pain.
I furrowed my brows as I looked down at my chest, and that was when I saw it.
BLOOD
I saw blood gushing out of my chest...I couldn't take the pain anymore as I fell to the floor, tears fell down my cheeks as I looked at my hands stained with my blood.
My blood.
"You shot her!"
"She was about to harm you, boss."
"Why did you fucking do it!"
"I'm sorry, boss-"
"Don't just stand there! Get her into the damn car!..."
The voice around me slowly faded as my body gave up, slowly losing consciousness.
