After Lilian left, Kevin was nearly done with his work. Pondering whether he should pick Jessie up from work, he decided to follow through with that plan. As he drove to Jessie’s shop, he saw Steve walk inside, his face darkening in an instant as he couldn’t help but speculate.
What was this man doing visiting Jessie so late? Kevin knew about Steve's feelings for Jessie, and his expression grew more tense. In spite of that, he couldn’t confront them openly, as Steve was aware of his identity; charging in recklessly would only expose him.
He kept a close eye on the shop entrance, watching and waiting for the two to come out.
Fortunately, Jessie and Steve emerged soon after.
Jessie closed the door and smiled. “I didn’t expect you’d come by so late.”
Steve scratched his head a bit sheepishly. “I’ve just been really busy lately and haven’t had the chance to visit. Plus, it’s quite late now. What happened to you last time startled me, so I thought I’d offer to take you home.”
