"You are Uchiha Kai? Impressive. To use such powerful ninjutsu, few in the shinobi world could match you."
Atop Mount Myōboku, Kai had just reached the summit and saw a large pavilion. It was the dwelling place of the sage who had lived for over a thousand years.
The Great Toad Sage resided here.
Seeing the creature, whose size was dozens of times larger than in the era of Hagoromo, Kai smiled. "Great Toad Sage, I apologize for the intrusion!"
"Haha, young man, you're quite interesting," the Great Toad Sage chuckled amiably.
"You're special. I see no future in you."
"There are only two explanations for this: either you are about to die, or your strength surpasses mine, making it impossible for me to see through you."
"In my eyes, it's the latter."
Kai responded casually with a smile. "Great Toad Sage, you flatter me. You should know why I'm here."
"I do. You're here for our Mount Myōboku's Toad Sage Mode," the Great Toad Sage said, still maintaining his languid posture, without dwelling on the subject.
"But causing such a commotion earlier... having Fukasaku and Shima personally teach you senjutsu might be difficult for them. I hope you understand."
The Great Toad Sage had witnessed the Heavenly Hand Power firsthand.
He didn't mind.
But if one or two more appeared, it would be unbearable.
"Great Toad Sage, don't worry. Once I learn Sage Mode, I'll leave," Kai replied with a smile.
"And I wouldn't dare trouble Sages Fukasaku and Shima. Self-study will suffice."
"Self-study?"
The Great Toad Sage frowned, looking at Kai's warm smile and sighing. "Toad Sage Mode is complex. Failure can result in petrification."
"And if you can't control the senjutsu chakra, you'll partially transform into a toad. If you lose control, you'll become a toad. Are you still determined to learn by yourself?"
The Great Toad Sage looked at Kai, his wrinkled, bark-like face showing a hint of urgency.
In his eyes, he had clearly explained the pros and cons of learning Toad Sage Mode.
Unless someone was a fool, upon first encountering such profound senjutsu, they would seek guidance.
"Thank you for the warning, Great Toad Sage. I have confidence in my talent. If I have the scrolls, self-study will suffice," Kai said with a smile.
The Great Toad Sage was stunned, confirming again. "You really intend to self-study? If something happens, this old man won't be responsible."
Ignoring his well-intentioned warning, the Great Toad Sage was clearly angered.
However, Kai still nodded with a smile. "Thank you, Great Toad Sage."
The Great Toad Sage fell silent, then lightly flicked his right index finger.
The scroll on the top of the chair back, as if pulled by an invisible force, flew towards Kai.
Bang!
Kai caught it, the force causing his body to tremble.
Looking at the Great Toad Sage, who remained with his eyes closed, he had no intention of speaking further.
It seems that even this old toad has a temper.
However, Kai didn't mind. He couldn't exactly shout to everyone that he was a divine being with a system, capable of instantly maxing out any ninjutsu or taijutsu. Halfway through that explanation, people would think he was an idiot.
Kai paid no attention and opened the scroll. Besides a depiction of a seated toad, it described how to activate Sage Mode and absorb natural energy.
At first glance, the content was quite obscure.
"Ding, detecting that the Host has learned Sage Mode. Do you want to instantly max level?"
The clear system voice echoed in his mind.
Kai raised an eyebrow, smiled, and gave the command.
The Great Toad Sage, who had remained silent, was stunned by the smile on Kai's face.
From the beginning, he had intended for Kai to see the scroll's intricacies and then ask for guidance, confused.
However, this once again exceeded his expectations.
"Is he smiling foolishly?"
The Great Toad Sage couldn't help but say, hesitating.
However, before he could speak, he saw Kai put away the scroll.
"Ding, congratulations, Host, Sage Mode, one-click max level successful."
The system's ethereal voice rang out again.
Kai smiled and returned the scroll to the Great Toad Sage.
"Thank you, Great Toad Sage, for your help. I've already learned senjutsu, so I won't stay any longer."
"You've already learned it?" The Great Toad Sage took the scroll, stunned.
In his memory, even the most talented Hagoromo took seven days to learn Sage Mode.
Now, Kai had merely glanced at it and claimed to have learned Sage Mode. It was unbelievable.
"Grandpa, are you alright? Did that kid do anything disrespectful?" Fukasaku, the sage, landed gracefully.
Following closely behind him were Shima, Minato Namikaze, and a group of toads.
After Minato moved the meteorite, he found Kai had disappeared.
Fukasaku and Shima used senjutsu perception to quickly locate Kai, eventually tracking him here.
"Kai, are you alright? I heard this is Mount Myōboku's forbidden area. Just entering might cause them to hinder your Sage Mode training," Minato said in a low voice beside Kai.
"Hmph, Minato, you're the only smart one," Fukasaku, the sage, snorted coldly. "Kid, I can let the earlier incident go. But you've intruded into our Mount Myōboku's forbidden area. If you don't apologize, even if we agreed to little Jiraiya's request to teach you Sage Mode, we won't guide you properly."
Actually, Fukasaku's decision to guide Kai in Sage Mode was a result of the Great Toad Sage's precognition.
However, as the Great Toad Sage said, this precognitive ability was blurry when it came to Kai.
Nearly frightened out of their wits by Kai's Heavenly Hand Power, Fukasaku, the sage, twisted the facts to regain face, clearly intending to subdue Kai's arrogance.
But the next words stunned everyone present.
"He said he's already learned it!"
