I don't know what Felix wants. But we're always like this. We meet, and it feels like we're soulmates. We kiss like the world is ending and we're trying to hold it in place with our mouths. But when we're away from each other? It's like we're exes stuck in a loop of unresolved heat and petty silences.
Even Elliot and I were never like this. Well. Now, maybe. Back then? Yeah, we were exactly like this. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe I'm drawn to disaster like it's something beautiful.
I glance at my phone. Elliot replied, but I haven't opened it. I'm too wrapped in this haze of confusion. The air still smells faintly of the rain and soap from the shower, and it sticks to my skin like guilt.
Then Theo comes downstairs.
He's in fresh clothes now—simple, but he makes it look like something from a magazine cover. His damp hair falls just slightly into his eyes, and he's rubbing a towel at the back of his neck.
