Alpha stepped out of the narrow corridor with heavy, dragging steps. His shoulders rubbed against the rough stones, and his breath echoed between his ribs as if he was forcefully pulling air in. A long exhale escaped him as he pushed away the last stubborn rock blocking his path.
As soon as he passed the passage, a vast hall opened before him.
Alpha stood at the entrance, staring into the empty space ahead, then ran his hand over his neck and brushed some dust off his torn coat.
In a weary, sarcastic tone, he said,
"Finally… I'm done with that narrow corridor."
He stepped forward, his footsteps echoing through the empty room. There was no other sound, just the reverberation of his steps, as if some faint light filled the hall.
