Reiji kept drinking, glass after glass, his movements sharp and careless. The bitterness in his throat couldn't compare to the one in his chest.
Eden approached slowly, concern etched on his face. "Reiji, what are you doing? Are you alone here? Where are your guards?"
Reiji didn't even glance at him. He poured another drink, his voice cold and slurred with emotion. "It's none of your business. Stay away."
Eden stepped closer. "I know it's not my business… but you're Kai's cousin. That's why I'm worried."
Finally, Reiji turned to look at him. His eyes were bloodshot, filled with a mess of anger, frustration, and pain. "Look, American guy—don't argue with me. I'm already in a bad mood, so stay away. This is your last warning."
Eden froze for a moment, taking in Reiji's broken state. Then his eyes dropped to Reiji's hand… and noticed something missing.
The engagement ring.
"You… you broke the engagement with Kai," Eden said softly.
