I drove through the main streets, keeping my eyes on the road but my mind elsewhere. The boss's request had thrown me off, and that didn't happen often. Health supplements and beauty products? It wasn't exactly the usual kind of errand I ran. But if Alex wanted it done, I wasn't about to question him. Not when his tone had carried that edge of seriousness I knew better than to ignore.
After a few turns, I pulled up at one of the biggest shopping complexes in the city. The place was massive, stocked with all sorts of high-end products, exactly what the boss wanted. I parked in the driveway and grabbed my phone, quickly dialing Alex.
"I'm here," I informed him. "I'll get everything you asked for."
"Don't take long," he replied, his voice firm.
"I won't." I bowed slightly, even though he couldn't see me, a sign of respect that had been drilled into me over the years. Then I stepped out of the car and made my way inside.
