Chapter 279 Cell
Only a dozen seconds passed, and the originally lively Base instantly quieted down. Apart from the occasional snoring and the sound of Equipment, there were only the chirping of insects and birds.
Yang Le emerged from the Land and walked to a Soldier. He picked him up and slapped him a few times in the face. The Soldier groaned a few times, showing signs of waking up, but after inhaling the Sleep Spores in the Air again, he passed out once more.
Yang Le nodded in satisfaction. As long as those Flowers kept spraying Sleep Spores, even if it was the End of the World, these people wouldn't wake up. By the same logic, a mere ear-piercing Alarm certainly couldn't wake them up.
"Cyclops, this is Hubie," Yang Le called out on the Communication Channel. "I've taken care of things here. Wait for me at the Barrier Edge."
"Roger," Cyclops Replied.
Yang Le returned to the Barrier Edge and passed through the Barrier without hesitation. As expected, the Alarm immediately sounded the moment he passed through.
The sudden Alarm startled Cyclops and the others outside, especially when they saw Yang Le walking out of the Barrier. They thought things had been exposed.
"What's up? Are we going to storm in?" Gambit asked, his hands full of Playing Cards, looking eager to try and not scared at all.
Yang Le was speechless. This wasn't some unplayable Game, why did it look like negotiations had failed and we were about to assault?
But you know what, actually, Yang Le and the others were indeed going to rescue Hostages, they were indeed a special operations Squad, and they were indeed going to break into a Building. It really did have a bit of a Rainbow Six vibe.
"Don't worry, I've already taken care of everyone inside," Yang Le waved his hand, signaling everyone not to be nervous.
As soon as Gambit heard Yang Le say this, he immediately became excited and said, "Awesome, bro! You took care of them all by yourself?"
"The Natural World is helping me," Yang Le explained. "I used Hypnotic Spores to put everyone inside to sleep. To prevent them from waking up, the inside is now filled with Spores visible to the naked eye. Even an Elephant would be put down within seconds of entering."
Nature is wondrous, not only does it have many Creatures with strange and bizarre Abilities, but they also have mutually reinforcing and counteracting relationships.
Yang Le opened his Palm, and a few black Fruits lay quietly on it.
"These Fruits can prevent you from being dizzied and passing out by the Spores. Remember to keep them in your mouth and don't swallow them."
The others didn't suspect anything and took a Fruit from Yang Le's Hand one after another, putting it in their mouths. But as soon as they put it in their mouths, their expressions immediately changed.
"So spicy!" Jean covered her mouth, forcing herself not to spit out the Fruit. Tears almost simultaneously streamed from her Eyes, making her teary-eyed appearance have a fragile beauty.
"Damn!" Gambit also grimaced from the spiciness, even crumpling the Playing Cards in his Hand. Cyclops gasped, and it took him a long Time to recover.
"Door, go in and plant." Cyclops slurred his words, unsure if it was from the spiciness or the inconvenience of speaking with something in his mouth.
Although Yang Le cultivated these Fruits, even he didn't know they would have such great Power. Seeing the X-Men's huge reaction, Yang Le, who was originally curious about the Smell of the Fruits, immediately gave up the Idea of going back to taste them.
He waved his Hand, signaling the others to follow, and took the lead in passing through the Barrier. Cyclops and the others hurriedly followed. Yang Le stepped aside, as what came next was no longer his Work. Cyclops behind him immediately understood, stepped forward, and pressed his Right Hand on the right side of his special Sunglasses. A deep red Laser immediately shot out from his Eyes.
Accompanied by a sizzling Sound and a burnt Smell, like a hot knife through butter, the Metal Door was quickly cut open into an archway wide enough for two people to pass side by side.
Along the way, Yang Le and the others didn't encounter the slightest obstacle. Everywhere were fainted Soldiers and Lab Coats.
"Whew!" Gambit whistled. "This is the easiest Mission I've ever experienced."
"Me too," Jean said with a smile. "It would be great if it could be this easy every Time."
Although they hadn't encountered combat, Yang Le and the others had other Trouble, which was getting lost. With no one to meet them, Yang Le and the others could only search room by room, which was not good News. After all, the longer the wasted Time, the greater the risk.
"Let's wake someone up," Cyclops Suggested. "With Jean's Ability, we're not afraid of not getting the correct Information."
"I thought I wouldn't need to take action this Time," Jean said with a smile, flipping her Hair.
Gambit immediately picked up a sleeping Lab Coat, took the Fruit Yang Le handed over, and stuffed it into the Lab Coat's mouth without saying a word, then slapped him a few Times in the Face.
"Ugh..." The Lab Coat groaned, and in a daze, he was about to wake up. Jean, seeing that he was waking up, directly used Mind Control and Mind Reading.
"Great!" Jean cheered. "Mystique is okay. She's locked up with other Mutants."
Everyone was happy to receive this News. After all, they were Compatriots who had spent day and night together, but they also hadn't forgotten the Serious Business.
"They are all locked up in the Prisons extending from the Base," Jean said, lightly biting her Teeth, clearly having seen bad Visuals. "These damned Guys, they abuse them every day."
Gambit sneered and casually stomped and broke the Leg of an experiment personnel. Originally, this intense Pain should have woken him up, but the Sleep Spores continuously inhaled into his nose and mouth prevented him.
"Let's hurry and rescue them," Cyclops said, frowning at Gambit's behavior, but didn't say much more.
"This way," Jean said, stopping Mind Reading and signaling everyone to follow her.
Gambit punched the Fruit out of the Lab Coat's mouth, and the latter fell back into sleep again. Then, he followed Yang Le and the others, running towards the extending part of the Base.
It didn't take long, and the group quickly arrived at the place in the Base where Mutants were imprisoned under Jean's leadership. Just like outside, everyone here had also passed out.
Cyclops and the others also saw their Partner Mystique, who was lying in one of the Cells. The Cells here were all single rooms, probably to prevent the Mutants from uniting and escaping. The Cells weren't made of fences, but a special Transparent Material that looked like some kind of Resin, extremely tough.
In front of each Cell was pasted Information about the Cell owner, but it only recorded their Abilities and Codes. Yang Le glanced over them and didn't find any interesting Abilities.
Except for the last Cell, this Cell was different from the others. It didn't use that special Transparent Material, but instead used an airtight, heavy Metal Door. At first glance, it was obvious that it was imprisoning an important Character.
