Chapter 81: Rotom Phone
~Samuel O. POV~
[Kanto Region, Nighttime, Pallet Town – Oak's Lab]
The first thing that caught my eye was a pencil sketch of an electronic device shaped like Rotom. The title beneath it read: Rotom Smartphone.
I've read the reports from Prof. Rowan about Rotom before and their capabilities on his theories of fusing with electronics. But from my understanding of them, I've only ever heard of Rotom being used in appliances like refrigerators or washing machines.
I continued reading, my eyes widening with every line. The proposal detailed a fully intelligent touchscreen device that incorporated a built-in Pokémon Encyclopedia app, enabling trainers to communicate over long distances via the Internet.
Features included video calls, navigation, online shopping, food delivery, and even real-time battle tracking. Most impressively, the phone would house a Rotom that would function as an AI assistant, capable of voice-guided navigation, Pokémon information queries, and more.
My brows furrowed as I concentrated, soaking in the details. This was a game-changer.
The more I read, the more it became clear—this wasn't just another gadget. This concept had the potential to revolutionize communication, especially for trainers on their journeys or the average person.
With the information age looming on the horizon, I realized that such a device could dominate the market, becoming indispensable for trainers and Pokémon enthusiasts alike, such as myself.
I murmured, his voice laced with excitement, "This… this is incredible."
But now, it seemed its potential extended far beyond that. As everyone knew, Rotom was a Pokémon.
Even when integrated into appliances, it retained the ability to communicate. If every Pokémon had access to a Rotom Phone, couldn't they communicate directly with it?
My imagination soared. A Pokémon could speak into its Rotom Phone, and the Rotom would automatically transcode and translate the message for the recipient. The thought sparked an even grander idea.
With so many Pokémon in the world, this could help revolutionize the Pokémon world as we know it. Not only does that help discover unknown Pokémon that have yet to be seen, but be able assists many in need.
My body shook in excitement for the very first time. Once again, Azure managed to surprise me as I began to make some calls. Reading the document, the first step is to call the Chairwoman of the Paldea League, Geeta, to get her assistance in this.
I raised an eyebrow at this as he crossed out the names of Kanto and Johto, Chairman of the Pokémon Association. Hoenn, Kalos, and Galar's Pokémon Association crossed in red marker explicitly says NO AT ANY COST.
Sinnoh and Unova's Pokémon Association Chairmans was left as Question marks, meaning he must be unsure? But the one circled was the only one that Azure himself wanted to meet, being the Paldea Pokémon Association Chairwoman, Geeta.
Shrugging my shoulders, I decided to trust his word. As someone who helped save the people of Pallet Town battling Team Rocket, it was the very least I could do for him. Not only that, but he also made me rethink how my Pokedexes should be distributed from now on…

~Third POV~
[Paldea Region, Next Day, Paldea League, Principal Office]
Within the principal room of Paldea's Region, top school academies, Naranja and Uva Academies, follow different philosophies. Both academies are the oldest in the Paldea Region, built 805 years ago and located in the region's largest city, Mesagoza.
The school is attended by people from various regions across a wide range of age groups. Children and adults study in the same classes; some classes are attended with Pokémon as well. The school faculty includes Clavell, the school director, and Jacq, the biology teacher.
But at this current time, Geeta was reading an important email from none other than the famous Pokémon Professor Samuel Oak. She raised an eyebrow as she thought, 'Oh? What does the famous professor of Kanto want with me?'
Geeta has a caring, wise personality and a calm, pragmatic demeanor. Her goal is to help Trainers throughout the region become stronger. She encourages others' growth and supports them in their goal to reach Champion rank.
But being the Chairwoman of the Paldea Pokémon League and Chairwoman of the Pokémon Association of Paldea, she also had her duty to make her region stronger. Today, though, she read the email as her expression shifted into seriousness.
Her eyes scanned the idea of Rotom Phone, searching for a promising researcher or company that works with Rotoms located here in Paldea. Her thoughts scanned that she recalled Nemona's Father was a businessman researching Rotom technology.
Reading the idea, her eyes narrowed as she contemplated the idea that this would spark. But then her eyes widened as the professor revealed the idea came from a young boy of 11 years old who would revolutionize the world with this idea.
The email read that he suggested coming to Paldea first with this proposition, then Devon Corp of Hoenn or Silph Co. in Kanto. Seeing an opportunity, she grinned as she picked up her phone, calling her assistant Rika in a calm tone, "Rika, when can you get Nemona's father with us about this deal proposal presented to us?"
Rika, on the other end of the phone, was confused as she asked, "I can, but why?"
Geeta merely maintained a calm smile as she revealed a glint of amusement as she said, "I would like to revolutionize the world to show Paldea's greatness. What else?"

~Azure S. POV~
[Kanto Region, Two Weeks Later, Pallet Town, Oak's Lab – Hut]
It had been two weeks since I had stayed in the Oak's home, and I was lying on one of the cots in the watcher hut, looking down at the sleeping Eevee and Pikachu on my chest. Over those two weeks, I've been challenged.
Just like with Red winning the Pokémon League Tournament, I was met with challengers as well. They weren't too troubling for my Pokémon team to handle as they cleared those who were weaker with ease.
Not only that, but I've managed to sell some of my Moves to Silph Co. I'm slowly gaining cash off the moves I sold for 2% of any revenue made from the sales of technical machines of the moves I discovered.
Not only that, but I'll also be given a monthly stipend to allow me to redeem 5 TM's for every free month to help advance my Pokémon's move pools to develop new ones. I remembered how long it took to register to be one of Oak's Lab assistants to smooth the process over.
I found out how they make TM's. Either by using Pokémon parts like shown in Scarlet/Violet or copying their knowledge of the moves I've discovered, converted into Data. Not only that, but the monthly salary of 20,000 Poke Dollars in my bank account is a nice feeling to have.
Not only that, I've begun to distribute my Poke Blocks to help Prof. Oak in his Pokémon research of my special blend of Poke Block that Professor Oak was supplying me with berries while I make for him in return. I managed to surprise him when I got the idea of how to make a Poke Blocks blend for the Dratini line for his Dragonite.
I began to make the Poke Blocks again. Days have passed since I started to live with the Oak Family as a part-time Move Assistant. During that time, I've been taking care of manual tasks and my Pokémon learning from the experience.
But currently, I'm making some Pokémon their favorite Poke Blocks. Using a Pecha and an Oran Berry using the Berry Mixer, add a little powder…
*SHEEEE*
*DING*
*POP*
The Berry Mixer released 40 Poke Blocks smiling specifically made for a certain Pokémon. It didn't take long to hear this Pokémon either.
*Tmp*
It was one of Oak's Pokémon, Dragonite, and my own came around sniffing the food. Both roared out, smelling his favorite Poke Blocks, "Rawoo!"
Coming along came Oak as he looked surprised at his Pokémon here in my hut. I feed his Dragonite his Poke Blocks, then mine both having a delighted expression as Oak says in an impressed tone, "I see you working on your Poke Blocks again, Azure. It amazes me how my Dragonite loves your Poke Blocks when compared to the Devon Corps or Silph Co. ones. Almost all the Pokémon here love your Poke Blocks."
Waving my hand modestly, I said calmly, looking at him sheepishly, "Not necessarily. I've been trying to make Poke Blocks that fit the Type or Species of Pokémon to their liking. Plus, thanks to me, I've helped the Clefairy and Jigglypuff line awaken their Fairy Typing."
Oak looked at me, stunned when I mentioned the species. I've been testing this out using the info I collected from the Arc Phone, giving me the necessary steps needed to make the Pokémon like the Poke Blocks.
Not only that, I've also helped Green awaken her Pokémon Fairy Typing. It was something I suggested to Oak to see if feeding them Poke Blocks would be enough for Green's Pokémon to awaken their Fairy Typing.
And by God, did it work. Green was ecstatic to learn her Pokémon could learn new moves of the Fairy Type… once she figured that out with my assistance. It was days ago, but Blue, Red, and Green already left, fulfilling their quest while I steadily build up my stance and connections in the world.
Hearing this, seeing his Dragonite love these Poke Blocks, he then suggested to me with a casual smile, "Would you mind if I shared your Poke Blocks information? I have a friend of mine who might be willing to buy the patent for your recipe."
I looked bemused as I thought it over before ultimately nodding my head curiously, "Of course, I don't mind. But only if I get a yield of some kind of profit share in return. I'll even throw in a special Poke Block made if they want for the buyer's Pokémon. But can you ask Devon Corps if possible?"
Oak grinned, hearing this as I offered some of the Type Poke Blocks. With that, after Dragonite ate, he left to inform a big CEO about this development.
The recipe was just sitting idle in my hands through the Arc Phone. Selling the patent wouldn't only benefit trainers but also earn me a significant profit. But it would be even better if I got some yield for it.
Silph Co. was an option, but I didn't trust them that much. Mostly because of how Team Rocket controls the underworld. It is best not to make a stand here. However, whether they take the deal or not would depend on them.
I doubt Silph Co. would want to make a deal with a child such as me. But Devon Corps is different, as Joseph Stone will invest if it is meant for potential children with open minds and brilliant ideas.
Although I don't like the man in this version of Pokémon Adventures, I can't deny such a business opportunity presenting itself. I sighed as I continued making Poke Blocks with Prof. Oak, informing me that Geeta is attempting to visit here whenever possible to discuss more about the Rotom Phone idea.
Till then, I have my job of making some new moves work. Fortunately, I have some Pokémon that Prof. Oak lent to me to teach new moves, as I have a limited supply of Pokémon to teach.
Guess my title as the Move Tutor works. I teach Pokémon out-of-this-world moves and develop new ones on occasion. Speaking of which… I gotta teach my Arcanine the move Teleport.
I can't wait to see anyone dumb enough would go against my Legendary Pokémon. The ability to use Extreme Speed and Teleport? They would be so… screwed.
