Chapter 51: The Horrors In My Mind I

...........

But Akashi's attention moved on. To the largest egg. Not the strongest. Not the deadliest. But one of the most important.

It hatched in silence.

The Eldritch Realm, he calls it. But it was more than that; its size would be meaningless. It was a function, not a place.

The egg cracked.

A soundless pulse swept through the Inner world as it hatched. A black sun hovered above the ocean, unfolding like a blooming lotus made of shadow.

It was inspired by Y'ha-nthlei, but Akashi had designed it to be an ecosystem, a living system that absorbed spiritual energy and restructured itself accordingly.

In his stories, he mentions it to be the creation of one of the Outer Gods, created with the body of one of the Great Old Ones whose fate was sealed by another.

The Eldritch Realm then became the main residence and home to many of the universe's most incomprehensible creatures.

It's by design a living entity that can change itself in accordance with the inhabitants' needs.

Its 'living' statue is also what makes it extremely secure, as it can sense everything within its body.

He returned to the basement; and brought it with him.

In the material world, the Living Realm manifested as a pulsating, organic core; no larger than a fist; that floated in the basement's center.

Dark mist flowed from it, reshaping the room. Walls became tissue-thin obsidian veins.

New chambers formed on their own beneath the house, carving downward into the earth like cancer.

Akashi stood in awe, a genuine smile emerging on his face as he observed the miracle.

"Kurayami... I really really love you," He felt the hilt in his hand tremble. What can he say?

Kurayami was his miracle, the reflection of his soul, and it was stunning and miraculous. It showed him a world of endless possibilities.

In Social Society, there are many Zanpakuto abilities that can be called broken, Ichimonji; Ryujin Jakka; Kyoka Suigetsu.

Ichimonji especially is broken against Akashi. Ichibe can control the word Black, and it seems to be nigh absolute control.

The ability seemed to be Akashi's nemesis, but that never discouraged him for Kurayami has the potential to be omnipotent. He truly believes that.

Imagination is endless. If he needs a counter to something, he can just write down a story about it, and he can create it.

It isn't the first time it happened, although the first time, it was unintentional.

He really didn't think he'd be able to solve Kyoka Suigetsu so easily... Indeed, Aizen's hypnosis now has very little effect on him.

Within minutes, the house above became a fortress, although its outer appearance hadn't changed. And beneath it, a laboratory.

Training arenas. Meditation chambers. Holding cells. A library formed with books of ink that hadn't been written yet; projections from Akashi's own mind.

The Eldritch Realm responded not to spoken commands, but to intent, and it would keep evolving with time for this is not its final form.

Indeed, how could the entity created with the body of a Great Old One be so simple?

Its uses are many, but so is the cost to reach the apex, so much darkness that he can not afford right now.

Nevertheless, this would be his sanctum from now on.

Then came the next act of creation.

He focused his mind, manifesting within his Inner world, and called out to the second horror: Zenaserisu, a flying wyvern; his mount, from now.

The egg rippled. It cracked apart in silence, and from it emerged a creature of inky black scales and silver-lined wings, coiled around itself in slumber.

Its eyes opened, and the space trembled.

Zena.

She bellowed, and spread her wings, leaping into the sky and experiencing flight for the very first time in her new life, yet it still felt like an instinct to her.

It was fast; absurdly fast. Designed to fly without air, swim through space, and dive through darkness.

But Akashi had built her this way intentionally. For now, she was a steed. A flying horror, agile, sleek, deadly.

But that was only her dormant form.

He had written her true apex as Bahamut; not just a creature, but a sovereign.

An entity that could rewrite landscapes with its roar. A god of war. That form, however, required a magnitude of darkness he simply didn't have… yet.

Zena soon landed before him, and let out a sound akin to a hum, bowing her head before him.

Akashi reached out, his hand falling upon her smooth dark scales, "What a beautiful beast." He muttered, receiving a quiet dragonish purr in return; before she resumed flying.

Now, the Hive.

He turned toward the ocean, eyes intense.

The egg that hatched next did not crack. It breathed. Flesh-like strands slithered out of the surface, followed by a pulsing mass that dripped with primordial ichor.

It rose like a queen sitting up from slumber; her enormous body vaguely humanoid, but her skin translucent, filled with twitching darkness, like a glass womb of horrors.

The Hive Queen.

She knelt before Akashi, making odd incomprehensible sounds. Akashi looked into her eyes and whispered, "Begin."

And she did.

The birth process wasn't through a normal pregnancy. Akashi wouldn't write her with such an inefficient process.

Instead, the darkness in her belly seemed to flow into her wings, her energy consumed rapidly to the point that Akashi had to distribute much more spiritual energy to her.

It started, the gestation process, her wings inflating rapidly and then thumping like the beating of a heart... Before exploding into a burst of Ink.

From the two wings fell two entities, seemingly fully grown.

She birthed the Worker Horrors; the first two barely clothed in humanoid shapes.

They emerged covered in capes stitched from darkness, hiding their warped faces and jointed limbs.

They spoke not aloud, but in pure thoughts, connected instantly to each other through the hive mind.

Their minds were small individually, but together, they were a miracle. They are responsible for research.

He sent them to begin with their studies and research: spiritual particle analysis, the nature of both Shinigami and Hollow physiology, and most importantly, Kurayami.

However, they would first have to study, standing on the shoulders of giants.

The giant in this case was Aizen who allowed Akashi to see some of his research.

They would learn and build what Akashi could not alone. He's not Aizen. He's not Urahara.

He doesn't feel like he's a genius in that regard. The previous battle against the six nobles made him realize that he's a little genius when it comes to war.

However, that matters little when his objects of comparison are people like Aizen, Urahara, and Ichigo.

However, he is not alone. Darkness stands with him.

But it came at a price.

Each one required a massive expenditure of energy.

He turned his attention to the queen. She was born with six wings despite describing her in his stories to have twelve, but just six were enough to suck most of his darkness dry.

If he wanted her to birth more worker horrors, she couldn't, stopping at only four before his started to blur.

She uses energy to create, whether it's darkness or spiritual energy. He would rather not use darkness for worker horrors.

But his spiritual energy is limited. Her wings are also limited and take time to recover before she can create again, so it kind of worked out.

Darkness. There is still some. The Hive Queen was a priority, the rest could be spent on other mature ideas.

And so, other horrors followed.

The Nuckelavee, a fused horse-and-rider monstrosity of rotting flesh and exposed muscle, whose mere breath poisoned the land.

The Dullahan, headless yet aware, carrying its own skull in one hand and a whip formed from the spine of traitors.

The Night Hag, who moved between dreams and reality, a cloaked spider-thing whispering insanity.

And Bloody Mary, a mirror-bound assassin who used reflections to invade the world and murder targets from within.

Akashi's Inner World... It felt more alive to him than ever.

Cthulhu was asleep.

The Hat Man was standing quietly by the side, as if frozen in time.

Zena's roars resounded throughout as she flew through the sky.

The Hive Queen was sleeping by the side, trying to recover.

The Nuckelavee, Dullahan, Night Hag, And Bloody Mary stood by the side.
