The air in the sealed-off VVIP suite hung heavy with gunpowder, blood, and the echo of names not spoken in years.
"I am not mistaken, you are Williams heir"
The one who had recognized me, scarred from old burns, cybernetics twitching like they were alive still had his eyes locked on me. He wasn't blinking. He also wasn't breathing right.
"Contrario...Williams..." he repeated again, as if tasting the words might make them untrue.
To his left, a wiry man with white braids and chrome fingers narrowed his eyes and stepped forward, voice low and disbelieving.
"Williams? **As in, THE Williams? The one from Central Nova Command, Brenda's husband?"
Another elite, a short woman with precision augmentations along her jaw and spine, tilted her head and gave me a once-over like I was a data relic come to life.
"Wait. Is that really his son? The One-Avatar anomaly? The...bug?"
"Who would think Williams son would be the bug!" She added with a smirk on her face.
