c65: Califla and Kale
Inside the gravity training room.
Li Xu was guiding his two children through basic Saiyan-style drills.
It had now been three months since their birth. As Saiyan physiology dictates, their development was far more rapid than that of Earthlings. By three months, they could walk, talk, and even engage in beginner-level combat training.
"Alright, that's enough for today," Li Xu announced, signaling the end of the session.
After a month of consistent training in 10 times Earth's gravity, both Li Yi and Bra had learned to suppress their massive ki signatures and control their energy. No longer would their power randomly surge out of control and cause destruction.
"Dad, can my sister and I go outside and play now?" Li Yi asked, his bright eyes fixed on Li Xu with hope. Until now, due to their overwhelming power, they hadn't been allowed to interact with others freely.
"Sure," Li Xu chuckled warmly.
Despite their tremendous battle power each born with a combat level of 100,000 they were still children at heart, full of curiosity and innocent mischief.
"Yay! That's awesome!" Bra cheered with delight.
"Just don't cause any trouble," Li Xu warned. "If you do, even if I don't discipline you, your mother definitely will."
"We won't get into trouble!" Li Yi said earnestly.
Although Li Xu often joked about punishing them, it was Bulma who was the strict parent. Since their birth, she had enforced most of the discipline, while Li Xu adopted the more lenient role of the doting father.
Once the children left, Li Xu ended his own training for the day and exited the gravity chamber.
"Where are the kids?" Bulma asked as she saw him enter the living area.
"I let them go out to play," Li Xu replied casually.
"You let them out? What if something happens?" Bulma said with concern, clearly uneasy.
"Relax. They can already control their energy. Nothing bad will happen," Li Xu reassured her.
Then, leaning in with a teasing grin, he added, "Besides, with the kids out and your body fully recovered… don't you think it's time you repaid a certain debt?"
Bulma had been maintaining her physique since childbirth, determined not to lose her figure. Her current appearance was even more alluring than before. Li Xu had waited patiently, and now, with no distractions, he seized the moment.
"…Mmm," Bulma responded shyly, cheeks tinged pink.
"Haha!"
As the evening sun dipped low, the twins returned this time with two more girls by their side.
"Dad, Mom! We're back!" Li Yi called out loudly.
"Hey, quiet down. Your mother's sleeping. Don't wake her up," Li Xu scolded, lowering his voice. After their earlier... "bonding time," Bulma had dozed off from exhaustion.
"Why is Mommy sleeping during the day?" Bra asked innocently.
"Because you two kept her up all night with your noise. She's making up for lost sleep," Li Xu said, managing to say it with a straight face.
"…I won't wake Mommy again," Bra said apologetically.
Li Xu then turned his attention to the unfamiliar faces behind his children. Two girls, one exuding a wild spark and the other timid, stood beside Li Yi and Bra.
"And who might these little ones be?" Li Xu asked, scratching his nose with a hint of embarrassment.
"Dad, this is Caulifla and Kale. They're our new friends!" Li Yi said enthusiastically.
"I thought they looked familiar…" Li Xu thought inwardly. Caulifla's aggressive energy was unmistakable. But Kale her ki was different. Subtle, yet volatile. It reminded him of the latent power associated with the Legendary Super Saiyan a trait that only emerged in rare Saiyans, like Broly in Universe 7.
"Uncle, Li Yi says you're super strong. Is my brother stronger than you?" Caulifla asked bluntly, stepping forward with her usual cocky flair. Although just over a year old, her spunky, rebellious nature had already begun to form, mirroring her canon personality from Dragon Ball Super.
"Who's stronger you or Li Yi?" Li Xu asked with amusement.
"He's a bit stronger… for now. But I'll definitely surpass him," Caulifla said, clenching her fists with confidence. Her pride stemmed from the time she'd fought and lost to Li Yi earlier that day.
"Then that means I'm definitely stronger than your brother," Li Xu laughed.
"Hmph! My brother's the strongest!" Caulifla said stubbornly, arms crossed and chin raised in defiance.
Despite her tough exterior, Li Xu could tell she had potential. In fact, her bond with Kale and future growth could eventually push her to Super Saiyan 2 levels as seen in the Tournament of Power.
But for now, she was just a feisty little girl with a fighter's heart.
"Wait until you defeat Li Yi before trying to argue with me about who's stronger," Li Xu said with a grin. Asking a child to be modest was a lost cause, especially with someone as fiery as Caulifla.
"I will defeat him!" Caulifla said, eyes blazing with determination.
"I won't lose to you. One day, I'll be as strong as my father, and I'll protect my sister and Mom," Li Yi replied, equally determined, not backing down an inch.
"If you want to become strong, it's not enough to talk tough you have to train hard. Strength comes from perseverance and sweat. If neither of you wants to lose, then push yourselves through training," Li Xu said, his tone turning serious. The same principle was drilled into Goku and Vegeta hard work above all else.
"Kale, let's go! We're going back to train. I have to beat him!" Caulifla declared, grabbing Kale's hand and bolting off.
"W-Wait, sis! Slow down!" Kale cried out, trying to keep up.
"Dad, I want to train too," Li Yi said firmly, eyes full of fire.
"My training is tough. Don't say I didn't warn you." Seeing the resolve in Li Yi's eyes, Li Xu couldn't help but feel proud. The saying that education should start young truly rang true.
He hadn't expected Caulifla to light such a spark in Li Yi, but the result was welcome. Saiyan pride was something born, not taught.
"I won't give up," Li Yi said, clenching his fists.
In the training chamber, two small silhouettes clashed—Li Yi and Caulifla.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
They darted around the room like mini-comets, trading rapid movements, trying to find an opening to strike. Their battle was raw and untamed—no refined forms like Goku's Ultra Instinct or Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue, but still impressive for their age.
"Go, big brother!" Bra shouted from the sidelines, pumping her fists.
"Come on, sis! Don't lose!" Kale added, her voice surprisingly loud.
Suddenly, Li Yi stopped in the center of the chamber. Caulifla zigzagged from the edge of the room, slowly closing the gap like a seasoned fighter setting up a feint.
"Heh... gotcha!"
She appeared behind him with a cocky grin, her fist already flying at his back.
"Take this!"
But her punch hit nothing it passed clean through, striking only an afterimage.
"Uh-oh!"
Caulifla's eyes widened as the realization hit. She spun around instinctively, but it was too late Li Yi's fist was already flying.
Boom!
He struck her mid-torso, sending her skidding back into the reinforced gravity room wall, a shockwave cracking through the chamber's air-pressure systems.
"I won!" Li Yi said, beaming with pride.
"Hmph! I'll win next time, just you wait!" Caulifla growled, hopping back up with no real injury. Li Yi had pulled the punch just enough typical of how a trained fighter handles a spar. Saiyans were durable, but Li Yi still made sure not to go too far.
