Even though it's only been a few days since Kael woke up without any memory.
He didn't know anything about the world, its people, or the magic he saw.
One thing that was clear is this is a dog-eat-dog world, and he needs to become strong in order to survive, to know where he came from and what his life was before.
And, when the instructor asked everyone to select a weapon, he thought, 'Can he actually trust a weapon?'
What if they broke mid-fight? So, can he trust a weapon, which led to the question, whom or what can he actually trust in this world?
The answer was simple: Him. And no one else.
And for that reason, he selected the Gauntlets.
"Gauntlets? Really?"
"Yeah, he should have selected a sword; they are way cooler!"
"Nah, Spear is the king!"
"Hmph, idiots! When the night will rule, I will slay my enemies with my dagger and capture their souls, as I am the shadow sovereign."
"Lol, what a weirdo. Shadow sovereign... my ass."
"Hahaha."
The trainees present all had different reactions when Kael selected the gauntlet, but he didn't mind what any of these people said.
And went back to the place where the instructor Den was waiting.
Soon all the trainees were done selecting their weapons, and Instructor Den continued.
"As the training programme is named, Close Combat Training. I will be teaching you close combat and how to quickly kill your enemy."
And the instructor separated the trainees based on their weapons. Though there were many weapons, fifty percent of the trainees had selected sword, twenty percent spears, twenty percent daggers or short swords, while the remaining ten percent had different weapons like whips, maces, hammers, gauntlets, etc.
The instructor first went to the sword group and showed them some basic sword moves like 'slash' and 'stab'.
Then he moved to the spear group and demonstrated some of the basic moves.
The instructor did the same with all these weapons and asked everyone to practise these moves.
Soon it was Kael's turn.
"Why did you select gauntlets?" Instructor Den asked as soon as he reached Kael
"They have many demerits when faced against other weapons," he said.
Kael looked directly into the instructor's eye and said.
"Because I don't trust anything but myself."
"Ohh! intrusting." Den raised his eyebrow at the response, and soon a grin appeared on his face.
"Okay, you know, like how other weapons have basic moves, gauntlets don't, as they are just an enhancement or protection for our fists. So I will be teaching you how to attack with your body."
Saying so, the instructor started teaching Kael about the basic moves like crosses, hooks, uppercuts, and the proper stance to perform these moves.
He also taught him some kicks and knee attacks.
"Now perform these attacks till you master them."
And instructor Den moved to the next individual.
When Den was showing those moves, Kael acted like a sponge and absorbed each and every movement.
How, when performing a straight punch, he moved his leg and how he tightened his core to maximise the power of the punch.
And Kael started his practice as instructor Den taught.
And like that, a few hours passed, and each and every trainee was drenched in sweat. Some tried taking rest midway through training only for the instructor to beat the shit out of them.
So, in fear of the beating, all continued training.
*Clap*
"Ok trainees! That's it for now."
*Thud*
*Thud*
The trainees fell one by one as soon as they heard the announcement.
And both the Instructor Den and sphere left the trainees.
Kael, who was breathing heavily from all the training, calmed himself down and got up and left the training ground.
One by one, all the other trainees also left.
It was their break time; Kael went back to his room and decided to take a cold shower. As the instructor said, it will be good for their sore muscles.
After taking the shower, Kael went to the mess to have their second meal after hours of training.
As he tried to bring the spoon to his mouth, his hands shivered, but not just him; all the other trainees were facing these. As after all those movements their hands did – slashing, stabbing, and punching – their arms were beyond tired.
But somehow they were able to finish their meal and went to the hall, where the theoretical classes will be held.
Kael soon arrived in the hall; it was a big hall with the board in the front and the benches in a climbing manner.
A few trainees were already present when he reached there. Without minding them, Kael went directly to the last second bench of the cornermost row.
'Maybe I will finally get answer to some of my question.' Kael thought as he quietly waited for the teacher to arrive.
Trainees arrived one by one, and soon the whole hall was filled with the trainees. And soon the teacher was here.
She was a short woman, with dirty blonde hair tied in a bun. She had sharp brown eyes, and spectacles adorned her pale face.
She placed the book in her hand and faced the room, then after a brief pause, she continued.
"I will be teaching what the organisation asked me to; I don't care if you listen, focus or do nothing. I will not entertain any questions, nor will I tolerate any noise."
This shocked many of the trainees, and many were even happy, as they don't have to study; they can just sleep throughout the lecture.
And without waiting, the teacher started her lecture.
"The first lecture will be about 'The Empires and Kingdoms around the Continent.'"
At first Kael was shocked when the teacher said how she would be teaching, as though he didn't remember taking any classes or anything, but he just knew something was fundamentally wrong with what she said.
But when he heard the topic, he straightened up. As finally he will be able to learn something about the outside world.
