Chapter 70 - Healing Hearts

The car ride was quiet. Nora had fallen asleep in Zayan's arms, her head resting peacefully on his chest as they made their way to the hospital with Lisa. Her breath was calm, but her body twitched slightly — a sign of the chaos her mind still held.

When they arrived, Dr. Arion — Lisa's older brother — stood at the hospital entrance, already waiting for them. His eyes widened in surprise at the sight.

"Oh my… What brings you here, dear sissy?" he asked with a mischievous grin.

Lisa rolled her eyes. "I need your help."

"With what?"

Lisa simply pointed at Nora, still asleep in Zayan's arms. Arion's gaze shifted to her — then quickly to Zayan. Recognition struck.

"Zayan Kai?" Arion asked, stunned.

"A pleasure," Zayan said coolly. "Dr. Arion."

Arion's smile faded as his eyes landed on Nora again. She stirred suddenly, her grip tightening around Zayan's coat, her lips trembling.

"N…n…n…na…n…a… fi…fi…fire," she mumbled in her sleep, her voice filled with fear.

Zayan gently patted her head. "It's okay, my love," he whispered.

Arion nodded, taking Nora inside for a brain scan. Zayan's worry deepened with each passing minute.

Finally, Arion returned, holding a file in his hand.

"She has TBI," Arion said.

"Meaning?" Zayan asked, his voice sharp.

"Traumatic brain injury," Arion clarified. "What exactly happened?"

Zayan explained everything — the accident, the trauma, and the little glimpses of memory Nora had shared since then.

"Is there a way to fix this?" Zayan asked, hopeful.

Arion paused, processing. "She needs time. But yes — we'll have to do brain surgery. After that, she can recover. Has she been remembering anything?"

"Yes. She mentioned something about the office incident… and her nana."

"That's good. It means there's hope. We have about three months to prepare. I'll bring in the best neurosurgeon — from outside the country."

Zayan didn't hesitate. "How much will it cost?"

Arion flipped through the file. "Roughly 70 million dollars."

Zayan chuckled, pulling out his checkbook. With one swift motion, he wrote a check and handed it over.

"Here. 100 million."

Arion's jaw dropped. "Zayan… this is—"

"Nothing is too much for my Nora," Zayan said, voice low and serious. "Make sure nothing goes wrong. Understood?"

Arion nodded, completely stunned by the sheer weight of Zayan's love — and wealth.

Sometime later, Nora stirred awake and quietly left the patient room. Her footsteps led her toward the soft cries of a baby. Inside the nursery, she found a little boy wailing. Without hesitation, she walked up to him and gently rocked his tiny form.

The crying stopped. The baby giggled. And Nora giggled, too.

Lisa, Arion, and Zayan began to panic when they realized Nora was missing. Security was called. They searched every hallway—until Lisa's voice rang out.

"Over here!"

They rushed over and found Nora on the floor, happily playing with the baby boy. The smile on her face melted Zayan's heart.

The nurse approached. "Sweetie, his mommy wants him now."

"Okie… Bye bye, baby!" Nora whispered, kissing the baby's tiny hand.

"Nora, darling," Zayan called gently.

Nora turned and beamed. "Z!!!!"

She ran to him and jumped up and down. "Babies are cute! Sooo… you think when I grow up, I can have one?"

Zayan chuckled. "Yes, love. You'll have one. Now let's go home. Asher's coming."

At the mention of her brother's name, her mood soured. "I don't wanna talk to him," she huffed, folding her arms.

Zayan laughed softly. "Alright, alright. Let's go."

She hugged Lisa goodbye, and they left the hospital.

That evening, Nora sat on the couch, happily devouring the ice cream Zayan bought for her — every last bit of it. Zayan chuckled as he watched her lick the bowl clean.

Asher stood by the entrance, scrolling through his phone. Over the years, he had matured — taking after Zayan in many ways. He was often abroad, running his company and supporting the orphanage that still meant everything to him.

"Nora!" he called out.

She turned, frowned, and sat on the floor with her back to him. "I don't know you," she pouted.

Asher laughed. "Wellllll… I got a gift for youuuu."

Her ears perked up. "Gift?"

"Yep. But say sorry first."

"I am sorry, my gorgeous sister," he said, kissing her cheek.

She giggled, stood, and wrapped her arms around him. Zayan watched them quietly, warmth in his heart.

Asher had brought a lot: chocolates, dresses, and art supplies — everything Nora loved.

"I got these because I know you and Zayan love painting together," he said.

She hugged him tightly.

Later, Zayan and Asher spoke in private. Zayan told him everything — the accident, the diagnosis, and the surgery plan. Asher's face lit up with excitement and hope.

Meanwhile, laughter echoed from the kitchen.

They rushed in to find Nora painting on the walls — all of them. She had drawn everyone: Zayan, Asher, Lisa, and even the baby from earlier.

She yawned and murmured, "Sleepyyy…"

She washed her hands, curled up on the living room couch, and fell asleep.

Zayan found her there. He knelt beside her, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

"Soon, my love… everything will be fine," he whispered.

As he carried her to their room, she clung to him and sleep-talked softly.

"I love uuu…"

Zayan smiled — his heart full. "I love you too, Nora."
