But Cade wasn't going to pull the trigger. Not yet.
There was something more to talk about, scores to settle with mouth first. He retracted the gun away from Felix's head, blew the mouth and walked to Mrs Jackson. When just ten inches away, he stopped and looked her in the eyes.
He said, "I heard about how my sister actually died. You hanged her in a forest."
Mrs Jackson raised her chin more with an unspoken yet undeniable confidence, and even a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "Gives you more reason to want to kill this old hag, doesn't it?"
Cade replied in a low, yet sharp tone, "It must have been fun for you. I mean, it definitely was."
"You must think I'm the devil," Mrs Jackson said out of nowhere, but gods be good, Cade wasn't buying anything she had to say.
Her actions already said everything that he needed.
"No, you aren't the devil," Cade declared slowly. Mrs Jackson quirked her brow with a chuckle.
