Chapter 1 - "The Cost of Love"

start!!!!

page:01 A girl belonged to a wealthy family, but her parents got divorced. Her mother took everything—her father's company, properties, and wealth—before leaving them behind. Her father was left with only three or four properties, which he sold to build a supermarket. Despite the hardships, he supported his daughter's education and fulfilled all her wishes.

The girl was exceptionally smart and completed all her studies on scholarships. To help her father, she worked part-time at a restaurant while pursuing fashion design.

On her first day of class, she became friends with Eylul. However, Eylul's friend, Aliyan Doğan, disliked her from the start. As their friendship grew, Eylul helped her get a job at her father's textile design company.

Esra had a simple, modest style—she wasn't modern like the others. Cemre often teased her by calling her "fresh-up," mocking her simplicity. One day, Aliyan made a bet with Cemre, claiming he could make Esra fall for him. Confidently, he said, "She's just a fresh-up girl. I can trap her in love easily."

After two months, Cemre organized a party. During the event, she humiliated Esra by spilling a drink on her clothes. Then, as a final act of cruelty, she pushed Esra into the pool. Esra didn't know how to swim and struggled to stay afloat.

Murat, Aliyan's brother, and their friend Savash immediately jumped in to save her. But before they could reach her, Aliyan himself dived in. He pulled Esra out of the water, saving her. Without saying a word, he left.

Later, Eylul confronted Aliyan in anger, demanding an explanation for everything.

Eylul fought with Aliyan, and their friendship ended. Heartbroken, she went to Esra's house, where Esra hugged her tightly and cried in her arms.

At that time, the university was closed for a short break. After a week, when the university reopened, Eylul and Esra arrived together. As soon as they stepped out of the car, all eyes turned to Esra. Eylul had completely transformed her—her dressing style, her look, everything had changed. She looked stunning. Seeing everyone's admiration toward Esra, Cemre was furious.

Esra had stopped talking to Aliyan, but after two years, Aliyan finally accepted to himself that he was in love with her. He tried hard to talk to her again.

Their professor announced a scholarship project, and teams were formed. Esra and Aliyan were put together, while Eylul and Savash were in another team. This forced Esra to work with Aliyan. They had to study for exams together, which made things even more difficult for her.

Three years passed.....

Aliyan kept apologizing, but Esra never responded beyond business-related conversations.

One day, they had to travel to Antep for a business meeting. Aliyan planned a surprise dinner date for her, where he apologized once again. But Esra didn't forgive him. That night, back at the hotel, she broke down in tears. Aliyan followed her to her room, locked the door, and pleaded with her.

"I never did anything on my own. I was manipulated by Cemre! I didn't accept it before, but now I do. I love you, Esra. I can't live without you. How long will I suffer this punishment? One year? One month? Or forever? Please, forgive me!"

Esra cried and begged him, "Please let me go! I want to return to Istanbul!"

 Continued....in page 05  Page 05:

The next day, when they returned to Istanbul, Esra submitted her resignation. She refused to work with Aliyan anymore and left to work at her father's supermarket. One day, while she was loading goods at the mart, Aliyan arrived and said, "Come with me, Esra."

"I'm not going anywhere. Leave," she said firmly.

Aliyan ignored her refusal. He lifted her onto his shoulder while she screamed, "Put me down!" He took her away and somehow convinced her. They reconciled, and their friendship was restored.

A year later, Aliyan's mother forced him into an engagement with a girl named Deniz. On the day of his engagement, Esra found out about it and rushed to the event. The moment she saw Aliyan, tears welled up in her eyes. She turned to leave, but Aliyan grabbed her hand and took her to his room.

"I'm sorry, Esra. Please forgive me. My mother is forcing me into this!"

Deniz overheard their conversation, and the engagement was called off.

Heartbroken, Esra left Istanbul with her father and moved to Antalya to handle the new textile company her father had established. Aliyan thought she had left Turkey for good.

When Esra returned after some time, an unexpected problem arose. Her ex-boyfriend—the one who had abandoned her—came back, seeking revenge for the slap she had given him in the past. He was now married but needed some products from the supermarket. He warned Esra not to tell anyone and demanded that she deliver the products herself.

Esra, not wanting to involve her father, agreed and went to deliver them at night. However, it was a trap. She was drugged and kidnapped.

For five days, she was held captive…

Continued.... in page 07 Page 07:

The kidnapping was done to take revenge on Esra's father, but the person behind it was following someone else's orders—Esra's own mother.

Her mother wanted Esra to return to her, but Esra refused. "I will never leave my father. He never abandoned me, even when you left me in my childhood!"

Her mother had orchestrated everything, hoping Esra's father would throw her out of the house, forcing Esra to return to her. But there was another shocking truth—her mother was also Cemre's stepmother. She had married Cemre's father after leaving Esra's father.

Esra was kept in captivity for five days. When she finally returned home, her father misunderstood everything. He assumed she had run away with someone and was now returning after being abandoned.

In anger, he shouted, "You ran away with him, didn't you? Then why are you back?"

He grabbed her wrist and dragged her to the door.

Tears streamed down Esra's face as she sobbed, "Dad, this is a lie! Please believe me! I love you!"

But her father pushed her out of the house, shutting the door on her cries.

With nowhere else to go, Esra went to Aliyan. Without hesitation, Aliyan took her in and gave her shelter. He believed in her and stood by her side.

Aliyan married her, accepting her as his wife. He also filed a legal case to prove Esra's innocence. For months, he worked to collect evidence.

After four months…

The truth finally came out. Esra's father came to see her, wanting to reconcile, but Esra refused to meet him. She left the house and sat alone by the sea, crying.

Her father found her there. With tears in his eyes, he said, "Esra, please forgive me. I didn't believe in you. I made a terrible mistake. Please forgive me."

But Esra shook her head. "I'm not going anywhere now, Dad. I'm married. I belong to Aliyan. I can't come back." With that, she walked away.

Aliyan tried to convince her, "Esra, please forgive your father. The same thing happened to him that happened to you. He lost you just like you lost him. Try to understand."

Esra remained silent.

Aliyan then told her, "I want to inform my parents that I have married you."

They went to Aliyan's house, but the next morning, Esra received a call from her father's caretaker. The caretaker called Esra urgently.

When she reached her father, he was lying weak, struggling to breathe.

"Please, Dad, don't leave me! I have forgiven you! Please forgive me too! But don't leave me!" Esra cried.

Her father had suffered a severe heart attack. But after receiving medical attention, he recovered and returned home. Esra stayed with him, taking care of him.

Meanwhile, Aliyan managed to convince his father to accept Esra, but his mother refused. However, when the wedding date was set, even Aliyan's mother attended.

One month later, Aliyan and Esra were married.

As a wedding gift, Esra's father sent them on a honeymoon trip to the Bodrum Dukkan Hotel. They enjoyed their time together, strengthening their bond.

After one month, they returned home. But life after marriage wasn't easy for Esra. Aliyan's mother constantly harassed her. Whenever Esra complained to Aliyan, his mother would manipulate the situation, making it seem like Esra was at fault, causing fights between the couple. Eventually, Esra stopped complaining.

Aliyan's father, however, loved Esra dearly and treated her like a daughter. Esra called him "Dad," and he always called her his daughter.

Three months after their marriage, Esra became pregnant. Both she and Aliyan were overjoyed. But Aliyan's mother wasn't happy. She had always wanted Aliyan to marry Cemre.

She pretended to care for Esra in front of Aliyan, but behind his back, she secretly gave Esra harmful medicine to cause a miscarriage.

A week later, Esra started feeling unwell. One day, she suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness.

Aliyan rushed her to the hospital.

The doctor examined her and frowned. "What kind of medicine have you been taking? These pills are extremely harmful to your baby! Your child barely survived, but any more doses could be fatal. Stop taking them immediately!"

Aliyan was furious. When he got home, he confronted Esra. "If you didn't want this baby, why did you let it happen? And now that it's here, why are you trying to kill it?"

Esra was stunned. "What are you saying, Aliyan? I would never harm my baby!"

Aliyan's eyes darkened as he stormed toward his mother. "You did this, didn't you?" he accused. "You tried to kill my child!"

His mother gasped. "Aliyan, no! She's lying! I would never—"

"Enough!" Esra interrupted, grabbing Aliyan's mother's arms and shaking her. "Why did you try to kill my child?! Tell the truth! Stop lying!"

Aliyan's mother remained silent.

Esra broke down in tears. "You're a monster! A mother who tries to kill her own grandchild! How could you do this?!"

Continued.....in page 12 Page 12:

How could you do this?!" Aliyan, overcome with anger, slapped Esra across the face.

"Get out!" he ordered. "I don't want to see you here anymore!"

His Esra looked at him in shock, but Aliyan didn't flinch.

She had crossed a line. And there was no turning back now.

Esra locked herself in her room and cried. A few days later, her father came to take her home for a while. She stayed with him for a week, and he cared for her deeply.

Aliyan visited daily, but Esra avoided him. She pretended to be asleep so her father would tell him she wasn't available.

After a week and two days, Aliyan came again and asked her father, "Uncle, can I take Esra home now?"

Esra returned to their house but ignored Aliyan. She avoided him at breakfast the next morning. As she was heading to her room, Aliyan's mother stopped her.

"Rest for a few days, because soon, I'll throw you out. And if not me, Aliyan himself will kick you out of this house!"

Esra ignored her and walked away.

That night, Aliyan tried to apologize. He placed roses on the bed and said, "I'm sorry, please. I didn't mean what I said."

Esra turned away. "Move aside. I want to sleep." Continued....in page13  Page 13:

Aliyan hugged her from behind, "I'm sorry." He kissed her cheek gently.

Esra softened. "Fine. But answer me—will you ever leave me? Will you ever throw me out of your life and this house?"

"Never."

She smiled. They were happy again.

One week later, Savash arranged a surprise dinner. The day before, Aliyan's mother followed Esra upstairs and tried to push her down the stairs. Esra caught herself, but Aliyan's mother fell deliberately, screaming in pain.

"Esra pushed me!" she cried.

Their maid, Feride, rushed her to the hospital and called Aliyan. She lied, saying, "Esra pushed your mother down the stairs!" Aliyan rushed to the hospital. When he returned home the next day, he confronted Esra. Continued... in page 14
