AVA'S POV
The sun was already beginning its descent when the car pulled into our driveway.
For some reason, the golden light hitting the house made it feel warmer, more like home than ever.
I was tired, but the good kind of tired.
The kind that meant something had been accomplished.
That someone's life had shifted, even if just a little.
As soon as I walked in, the scent of rosemary and something slow-cooked wrapped around me like a soft blanket.
"Welcome back, ma'am," one of the domestic staff greeted me with a smile, taking my bag.
"Thank you, Marta. Everything okay?"
"Perfectly fine. Sir Ethan returned not long ago. He's in the living room."
That brought a smile to my lips. I hadn't expected him back so soon. My pace quickened as I stepped into the heart of the home.
He was exactly where she said he'd be, seated on the couch, sleeves rolled up, glasses on, flipping through a sleek silver tablet. The moment he saw me, his face lit up.
