Chapter 48 - True Height of the Climb Part 3

Just as I proclaimed, I spent the morning running around the training ground.

I might not need much strength when it comes to battle, but I would need a lot of stamina.

Spell-casting required great concentration. It would be harder to focus once you were tired.

Not to mention the vastness of the trial's field I had to tread through.

Considering how strenuous the activity in the fifth floor trial, it was only natural that I wanted to increase my physical capacity.

Aside from running, I also performed simple strength and agility exercises I learned from the knights back home.

Though I wanted to increase my stamina, it would not be right to completely neglect the other factors after all.

As I trained, the members from the makeshift parties started to pour in the training ground and began their training as well.

Now that I was observing them closely, I could say for certain that their skills were far inferior from Jonah's and Shanny's.

Their movements were sluggish and there was no real force in their swings.

The rhythm of their steps was off, as if they did not have any pre-visualization of their battle flow.

They might be able to easily kill a dozen goblins together. But they would definitely not survive the endless onslaught Jonah and Shanny faced in the fifth floor.

Eager to improve themselves, Jonah and Shanny gathered the other combatants together and invited them on a duel between all of them against the two.

The others found the idea crazy but they agreed anyway. Since Jonah and Shanny said they would be using wooden practice weapons for the battle.

Had they chose to use real weapons, I doubted the others would ever accept their request.

"Arghh!"

"Guhh!"

"Ack!"

As expected, even though they were outnumbered, Jonah and Shanny managed to easily defeat the other members, which was over a dozen.

"Get up! We're not done!"

Shanny shouted at them while poking her blunt wooden sword to her fallen opponents.

"It's for your own good. Trust us. You'll want to become way stronger than this."

Jonah joined her.

Ignoring the other members' distraught faces, Jonah and Shanny resumed the duel.

The two continuously dominated the crowd over and over again.

Honestly, at this point, the people from the other parties could barely become a worthy sparring partners for Jonah and Shanny considering what the two had faced in the fifth floor.

Trudy was the best the two could find. But even she still lacked to become adequate.

Just as I finished my physical training, the gray sky turned into the familiar colorful hue.

Master had arrived.

I immediately returned to my room and changed back to my magic dress, anticipating that I might be summoned for another battle.

And I was right for expecting so.

[Serafina, Trudy, Gerrits, Pauline, Tarran! Master is calling for you! Come to the square!]

Now that was an odd combination.

Instead of Jonah and Shanny, master was calling for other names to go with me.

Some I had not fight with for a while now. Some had never even stepped into a trial.

I came to the square where the rest of the summoned members were already waiting.

"W-what's happening? Why is master calling for us?"

Pauline the cook asked. She looked a little nervous.

"This is weird. Except for Serafina and Trudy, master knew we have our own duties in the lobby."

Gerrits the craftsman said.

Indeed.

Pauline was assigned to the kitchen by master while Gerrits to the equipment workshop. Tarran had also been assisting the two places with menial tasks.

"Could it be s-synthesis?! But I have been working hard in the kitchen!"

Pauline panicked.

"Calm down. We don't know anything yet."

I told her.

"That's right. Let's just hear what the fairy has to say first."

Trudy added.

Right at that moment, the fairy appeared before us.

Thud!

This time, three wooden baskets came along with her. Inside the baskets could also be found empty water-proofed satchels as well as simple knives and sickles.

[You're all here? Good! Now take these baskets and tools master got for you and go into the rift of space-time I already opened.]

Now this was definitely different from the battle summons so far.

Instead of actual weapons that could kill monsters, master wanted us to bring these convenience tools with us.

We did not bother to ask any question and just went along with what she said.

As instructed, Trudy, Gerrits, and Tarran each took a basket and we all stepped into the glowing stone gate.

Once inside, we found ourselves facing three giant mirrors. Two of them were glowing brightly.

[Climb the tower and save the world!]

[Weekday Dungeon]

[An ever-changing dungeon's feast!]

[Collect various materials!]

[Sinmiel Plateau (5 hours)]

Ever since we cleared the fifth floor, another mirror began to glow.

It had the name 'Weekday Dungeon' written on its glass.

Judging from this peculiar call, I would guess this 'Weekday Dungeon' had something to do with it.

We were soon engulfed within the familiar bluish-white light.

Whooshh…

Once the light dissipated, we found ourselves standing at the top of a towering cliff. The base was so far down below that the altitude seemed almost otherworldly.

Meanwhile, to our backs stretched an expansive meadow with various plants grown all over.

So far no enemies were present.

We were still wondering what was our purpose summoned here.

Shinnngg!

Right at that moment, a dimensional portal appeared before us, followed by a mission window.

[Party 3 has entered the Weekday Dungeon, Sinmiel Plateau (Lowest Rank).]

[You will collect materials and return!]
