Chapter 38 - Clash of Magic

The Elf who had survived since the Mythical Era, one who had mastered nearly every form of magic—

The strongest archmage in history, Serie—

What kind of inhuman power did she possess?

Until today, no one could answer that question—no one except her disciple, Flamme.

Because since ancient times, whether human or demon—

No one who had witnessed Serie fight seriously had ever lived to tell the tale.

But after today, there would be two more "people" who knew the answer—

Agusheed and Frieren.

The strongest modern demon and a peacetime magic user would today—

Witness firsthand the sheer absolute might wielded by the legendary mage of the Mythical Era!!

————————————

What would Serie do when taking a full-force strike without dodging or defending?

This was a question Agusheed had pondered countless times.

Would she use Destructive Thunder Release Magic or Hellfire Release Magic to block it head-on?

Or rely on Heavenwind Summoning Magic or Rock Shield Protection Magic to tank it directly?

Each possibility flashed through Agusheed's mind, only to vanish an instant later.

"The regret from a hundred and fifty years ago of never seeing the strongest archmage's full power…"

"Let me make up for it today."

He murmured quietly, his eyes fixed on the seven meteors crashing down.

But the expected deafening explosion never came.

Because the moment Serie raised her hand—

A shockwave, born purely of released magic power, ripped through the air—

And instantly pierced all seven meteors.

As the meteors were cleaved in half, the shockwave burst outward and—

Reduced them all to dust.

When the smoke and magic cleared, what Agusheed saw—

Was Serie's ferocious grin.

"What was that supposed to be… Just scattering magic like that, does it even count as a spell?"

"Besides, you used more magic in that single strike than my total mana pool…"

Serie said nothing in response to Agusheed's sigh.

How funny...

So you get to buff up, but I'm not allowed to flatten you with pure numerical superiority?

With no pause, both had already predicted the next clash.

Almost simultaneously, Agusheed in the sky and Serie on the ground extended their hands.

Heavenwind Summoning Magic

Reverse Heavenwind Magic

The feast of magical collision had begun.

BOOM—

Two opposing storms collided the instant they formed.

One a forward-flowing tornado, the other a backward-whirling vortex.

Together, they enveloped the entire mountain range within their eye.

Grinding. Clashing. Cancelling. Obliterating.

The sky screamed. Rocks shattered.

The two storms tore at each other with relentless fury.

The deafening blast echoed once more. In the violent collision,

Both storms were annihilated.

But without the slightest hesitation—before the eye of the storm had even faded—

The two combatants gathered their magic once more.

Hellfire Release Magic

Judgment Light Release Magic

The moment fire and light collided—

Countless holy light cross-blades were consumed by roaring flames.

The kilometer-wide inferno surrounding Agusheed burned all attacks into ash.

But—

Crack—

A beam of Judgment Light sliced through the fire barrier at a speed faster than the eye could follow.

Then it curved.

Drip—

A faint cut appeared on Agusheed's right cheek. A droplet of blood fell to the ground.

Agusheed narrowed his eyes.

Serie calmly asked:

"Continue?"

"Continue—"

Even though the tide was turning against him, Agusheed had no intention of stopping.

Earth Manipulation Magic

Disintegration Wave Magic

Round three of magical collision—

————————————

BOOM—

Another explosive crash echoed from their magical clash.

Atop the castle,

Frieren, protected by Flamme's Barrier of Isolation, instinctively hugged her arms tighter.

"Back and forth, round after round…"

"Are they seriously fighting?"

Before her doubt fully left her lips, Flamme explained with interest:

"They're still in the testing phase—"

She watched with amusement as her teacher and husband fought,

Then turned to explain to Frieren:

"These spells look flashy, but they're not real killing moves."

BOOM—

Just during that short conversation, the fourth clash had already begun.

The shockwaves and dust of battle reflected in the young mage's eyes.

When yet another mountain was flattened by their spells—

Frieren instinctively clung to her tiny master.

"Are they… monsters?"

Hearing this, Flamme patted her white hair.

"Monsters?"

The white-haired elf heard her laugh softly.

Then saw her gaze settle on the battlefield, her tone terrifyingly calm:

"At this level, they're not even being serious yet…"
