Three core components made up the experiment:
The Detector Rune, which Alex had crafted himself; the Spindlecarve Mite, analysed and mapped by the Bio-alchemist; and the Ancestral Marking—the only element Alex had no prior data on.
And it was exactly the component this experiment had been designed to understand.
'If my premise is correct... and the Ancestral Marking is a form of natural Rune—written in a language fundamentally different from our known rune scrpt, yet equally recognised by the natural laws—then I may have introduced a variable I couldn't predict.'
He remembered his earlier deductions.
The Ancestral Marking filtered mana and bloodline essence, helping the Mite metabolise consumed bone matter. The Bio-alchemist had commented on the instability of the Mite's genetic structure under magical exposure.
'But what if that instability isn't a flaw... but a feature?'
