"What did he say? Did he agree to bail me out?" Selina asked, her head pressed against the cell bars, curiosity gleaming in her eyes.
Annabelle leaned in closer, tightening her grip around the bars as she carefully scanned the officers before whispering,
"He didn't say anything to me, and he didn't seem frightened by your threat. He was staring at me intensely like he wanted to burn me down, which is why I had to leave quickly instead of asking him for a response."
Did her second option fail? What else could she do? Does she had to wait a little longer for his response? Saying the whole truth out of impatience wouldn't do her good either.
Selina let out a soft sigh.
"Selina." The detective called out to her suddenly.
Selina lifted her gaze, looking at the detective as he approached. She rose to her feet, and Annabelle stepped aside to let him through.
"Yes?" Selina answered.
"You have a visitor," the detective said.
