Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: The Moment of Iron Hammer's Counterattack

Aslan didn't notice the commotion outside. To focus on his research, Aslan, like Morgan, enjoyed adding soundproofing magic to his room while conducting experiments. On one hand, it prevented the noise from disturbing others, and on the other, it ensured that external interruptions wouldn't affect his work.

To understand how to launch magic power, Aslan had to create small model prototypes for initial testing. These models were roughly the size of a human fist, but the magical formulas used in them were no less potent. If the experiments failed, they would still unleash considerable force and noise. The first few failed experiments had produced explosions that caused Morgan to furrow his brow. After turning Morgan into a frog for a few hours, Aslan became very careful about not disturbing anyone else. That sticky, damp feeling from being turned into a frog was an experience he never wanted to repeat.

At the thought of it, Aslan shuddered, the very idea giving him goosebumps. He wasn't some "frog prince" who could be kissed and returned to normal by the one who loved him, after all.

Meanwhile, in the castle's grand hall, the ordinary people who had been attracted to the celebration, and who hadn't been shielded by magic, vaguely heard strange sounds. Waking from their slumber, their first sight was a massive barrier stretching from the ground to the sky. Unlike most magical barriers, this one wasn't overwhelmingly bright. Instead, it had a subtle glow that almost blended with the sky, making it difficult to notice unless one was paying close attention.

This sudden change naturally caused panic among the people.

"What happened?!"

Before they could react, the castle's door was kicked open. A large number of barbarian soldiers flooded into the hall, weapons raised, eager for blood!

Among the celebration-goers were also some wandering knights. Seeing the soldiers, they immediately stood up. Although these knights recognized the faces of the intruders from the afternoon's revelry, at this moment, they no longer saw them as allies. These soldiers wore the clothes of invaders, and the knights immediately knew that they were about to face enemies. There was no reason to hesitate now — it was time to fight!

Some knights, their anger even fiercer than expected, charged at the soldiers, ready to fight. However, before they could clash, a burst of flame shot through the air, hitting one of the knights. The intense heat melted his armor, and the molten metal stuck to his skin, causing horrific pain far worse than the fire itself.

The screams echoed throughout the castle, sending a chill down everyone's spine.

Even the barbarian general couldn't help but twitch his mouth at the brutality. The magic caster who unleashed the flames, however, gripped his staff tightly. A blazing fire swirled at the top of his staff as he spoke coldly.

"Don't waste time here. Our target is Morgan, not these ordinary soldiers. Once we eliminate the witch, our mission will be complete."

His eyes were cold and merciless, fixated solely on his mission, with no concern for anything else. Finishing the task as soon as possible was his highest priority.

With a swift motion, he gestured with his hand, and flames erupted from his staff. These flames spun rapidly in the air before charging toward the front. No one in the castle could stand against the power of these magic casters.

Meanwhile, in his room, Aslan had heard the muffled cries. The sound of anguish was so terrible that it made him stop working. It was worse than any horrifying scream he had ever heard in a movie.

At the sound of these horrific cries, Aslan involuntarily shuddered. He wasn't the only one. Melusine also snapped out of her trance, her expression quickly shifting from a dreamy smile to one of anger and frustration.

However, her expression changed again in the next instant. The smell of blood drifted in from the lower levels of the castle. Looking out of the window, she noticed the thin, transparent barrier outside — it seemed to silently convey a message.

Aslan, now fully awake, also noticed the barrier. Having become a magus, he could immediately identify it as a powerful magical force. Without hesitation, he grabbed the small model he had been working on and directed it at the barrier.

As the magic flowed into the model, a magical laser shot out, creating ripples upon contact with the barrier. Aslan immediately deduced that this magical shield was not created by a regular magus.

At that moment, Aslan mistakenly believed that his father had sent out troops under the cover of darkness to retake the castle. It hadn't been long since their last battle, and Aslan hadn't yet completed his upgraded weapon version. Therefore, the main weapon he had at his disposal for this fight was still his forge hammer.

Though his available weapons were limited, Aslan wasn't worried. The strongest dragon on the island was still by his side. If Melusine couldn't handle these enemies, it would be a major embarrassment for Britain!
