Chapter 32 - Trial of Blood (3)

The next trial that I faced was a moral dilemma.

But since this was a trial that was created by a demon, or rather a demon king, it wasn't the same kind of moral dilemma that humans would have faced.

There was a child and an old man that were being bullied by a large demon.

The one taking the trial would only be able to save one of them.

When it came to demons that only cared about strength, this wasn't a question about saving them at all.

It was a question of taking what was yours.

So the correct answer would have been to subdue everyone that was in this room.

But for the Demon King Balcor who only cared about slaughter, this wasn't the right answer.

The item that was actually needed to pass this trial was the blood essence of these three demons. Only the blood essence would be accepted by the mechanism that opened the door for this trial.

However, this wasn't how I planned on passing this trial.

"Is there a reason why you're doing all of this?"

The brute demon was confused when he heard me ask this question, but then he raised his hand as if he was about to attack me.

I just casually dodged out of the way when I saw this since the brute demon wasn't that strong in the first place. This was a trial of morals, this wasn't a trial of strength, which was why this brute demon wasn't that strong in the first place.

It was easy for me to dodge out of the way with the shared stats that I received from the others.

After dodging, I asked again, "Why are you doing this?"

The brute demon seemed even angrier when he heard this and he started swinging his fist again and again at me. It was almost as if he lost control of himself with the way that he kept swinging his fist at me.

However, I didn't panic when I saw him like this.

I just calmly dodged out of the way while still asking him this question.

In the end, the brute demon seemed to run out of energy from swinging his arms like this.

Though that wasn't strange since he kept swinging and swinging without stopping.

It would have been strange if he didn't run out of energy.

Only when he was out of energy did I say, "Do you think that your mother would be proud of this?"

One wouldn't think that a demon would care about what their mother thought, but this brute demon was different. This brute demon immediately reacted the moment that he heard this.

Then he looked up at me with a strange look.

I couldn't help giving a secret smile seeing this, but I said to him with a gentle look on my face, "If your mother were to see you like this, do you think that she would be happy?"

His expression became even more complicated in the end before he finally said, "Then what do you think I should do?"

"Give up on being something you're not and act the way that you really want to."

"Can I?"

"As long as you're brave enough to take the first step."

"Thank you."

One wouldn't expect that they would be able to talk down this brute demon, but this one was different.

This one had a special relationship with his mother, which was something that could be exploited by the ones that took this trial.

As for the old demon and the child…

"Here's some candy for you."

"You remind me of my grandfather."

They had things that were their weaknesses too.

It was impossible for Demon King Balcor to create this trial with living demons.

After all, this was a place that was supposed to last for a very long time and it would be impossible for living demons to remain living for that long. That was why this place was created with an illusion array and the souls of demons captured by Demon King Balcor.

Since they were souls from real demons, that meant that they had their own personality traits.

That was what I was taking advantage of right now.

Of course, I wasn't the one that had discovered this.

This kind of thing wasn't something that could be discovered that easily, it was only someone that was quite fanatic that would be able to discover something like this.

This was something that I had seen in one of the guides from my past life.

This was a guide that was created by someone who was known as the "Professor" in the community. That was all because of the details that went into the guides that he posted online.

Though there were quite a few people that had to question his sanity because of the things that he discovered.

Most people would never ever think about the things that he tested and discovered, which was why they had to question why he would have tested them in the first place.

It was hard to tell if he was a genius or some kind of madman.

Still, his guides were very useful.

After I finished appeasing all three of these demons, I asked them, "Can you help me with one thing? I just need a bit of your blood essence."

At this point, they had been charmed to the point where they would accept any kind of request from me, let alone a small thing like this.

With that, I received a drop of blood from each of them that I brought to this decorated cup that was by the exit.

When I put all three drops of blood in the cup, there was a clicking sound before the door in front of me opened.

"You have passed the second trial."

It was only when I heard this that I stepped towards the door.

However, I could tell that there was the same strange tone that was in Demon King Balcor's voice when he said this.

That put a smile on my face.
