AT THE SAME TIME
ADRIAN'S POINT OF VIEW:
The sound was low at first. A warning. A growl, deep and vibrating through the floorboards. Xavier no, Aiden stood, his body all fur and fury, silver blue eyes locked on the window above us. His ears were pinned, muscles tough, and the growl built like thunder waiting to crack the sky. He was tense. Like it was holding its breath. Then he howled. Not a pained sound. Not distressed. It was loud. Commanding. It echoed across the stone chamber like it weighed it. My heart froze mid beat. Selene shot up from her seat, eyes glowing faintly.
"No, no, no, no.Selene whispered.
Kael's hands flew to his belt.
"That's the call."Kael said.
"That's a blood moon trigger. But that's not possible. It's early."Charlie said.
"What do you mean early?" I asked, stepping closer to Xavier, whose eyes were glowing now, his entire body humming with something weird.
