Chapter 18 - chapter 17

"A moment ago, you all thought to test your skills against me, didn't you? It wouldn't hurt to try. Lately, I haven't had much opportunity to exercise my abilities I've grown too comfortable. Among you, who wishes to challenge me? Step forward! Let me see if my skills have improved over these past years."

Elder Yowee Chen's voice was icy, yet laced with a provocative edge that sent shivers through the gathered emperors. Their faces paled, flickering with terror at his words.

The elderly man stood with majestic dignity, his light brown eyes calmly surveying the emperors floating before him at a lower level, his gaze steady and unreadable.

"Elder Yowee Chen… We deeply apologize for our earlier words. It was only due to uncontrollable panic that we spoke so inappropriately. Had we known it was you, we would never have dared utter such disrespect."

"Though we hold the titles of emperors, rulers of multiple universes, and are revered as supreme masters, compared to you… our skills are no different from toddlers taking their first steps on the path of power."

"We dare not even entertain the thought of sparring with you, for we could never hope to match your profound mastery. Your prowess is renowned throughout the heavens and all universes. In the eyes of warriors, martial artists, and even fellow emperors, your supremacy is beyond question."

"We… the assembled emperors, extend our utmost congratulations and welcome your presence at today's tournament. Your arrival is the greatest honor and blessing in countless kalpas!"

Emperor Xiang Ren Ti spoke with sincere reverence, bowing deeply as the other emperors followed suit. The atmosphere was thick with solemnity and profound respect.

"Originally, I had many matters to attend to. But Emperor Xiang Ren Ti personally invited me days ago, so I came. Yet I never expected such a grand event with a hundred emperors in attendance. Most intriguing."

Elder Yowee Chen's tone was calm, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"Elder Yowee Chen, your presence graces this tournament beyond measure. This event is held to foster camaraderie among emperors and to allow the young scions of noble lineages to acquaint themselves with one another."

"So that in the future, when they mature, they may already know each other well. But the main purpose of this tournament is to hone the skills of the younger generation to teach them self-defense and elevate their abilities. The victor shall receive the Sacred Sword of Slaughter as their prize."

Emperor Chun Fei Long bowed slightly, a respectful smile on his face as he regarded the elder.

"The Sacred Sword of Slaughter, you say? I've heard of this blade its power is immense, and its weight is extraordinary. Even I desire to possess it."

One of the emperors interjected, his voice smooth but his eyes flickering with barely concealed longing.

"The Sacred Sword of Slaughter… is a treasure I once requested Elder Yowee Chen himself to forge many years ago."

Emperor Xiang Ren Ti spoke softly, his eyes distant with memory as he glanced at the emperor who had mentioned the sword. His expression held no reproach only quiet pride.

"Ah! So Elder Yowee Chen forged the Sacred Sword of Slaughter himself?!"

Another emperor gasped in astonishment, his eyes widening as he stared at the elder in newfound awe.

"Such peerless craftsmanship! No wonder the blade wields such power. Truly worthy of reverence!"

"If one of your sons or daughters emerges victorious in the coming tournament, I shall deem them worthy of wielding the Sacred Sword of Slaughter."

Emperor Xiang Ren Ti's voice was firm, his sharp yet composed gaze sweeping over the assembly.

"Therefore… let the strength of your descendants decide the fate of this illustrious blade."

Emperor Chun Fei Long stepped forward gracefully, clad in pristine white robes accented with deep green, exuding both majesty and nobility. His cloak, crafted from fine fur, billowed lightly in the wind, enhancing his dignified presence. His eyes shone with deep respect as he spoke.

"Elder Yowee Chen, we emperors have reserved the highest seat in this arena as a tribute to your esteemed presence. Please, grace us by watching the tournament from this place of honor."

His voice was solemn, his bow elegant. The surrounding emperors watched the elder with utmost reverence, awaiting his response.

"We humbly invite Elder Yowee Chen to the seat prepared for you. Your presence here today is our greatest privilege."

Elder Yowee Chen gave a slight nod, his eyes as calm as a deep ocean. In an instant, his figure blurred vanishing and reappearing upon the velvet-cushioned golden throne, positioned high above the heads of all emperors, like a mountain peak above the clouds.

The moment he took his seat, even the whispering winds fell silent. The hundred emperors hovering in the sky turned their eyes toward him in unison, their gazes filled with the highest respect.

Then, one by one, they vanished in flashes of light, reappearing gracefully upon their own seats. Every movement was dignified, serene, and controlled like true sovereigns of the cosmos.

The noblewomen, empresses, concubines, princesses, princes, guards, and soldiers all murmured excitedly, their faces alight with joy at the sight of the elder occupying the highest seat.

Merely beholding his majestic presence was enough to fill their hearts with profound reverence. Truly, he radiated the aura of a legend worthy of every word of praise!
