The early afternoon sun spilled lazily through the gaps in the trees, warming the cobbled path that wound through the quiet residential district.
Nina strolled along it with one hand loosely gripping a leash that shimmered faintly under the sunlight.
The other end of it tugged every few seconds, stretched taut by a silver-furred pup who clearly didn't believe in walking at a reasonable pace.
"Slow down, you little beast."
Nina huffed, digging her heels in as Fenrir tried for the fifth time to bolt ahead.
He skidded to a reluctant stop and turned to look back at her with bright, eager eyes and an open-mouthed pant that looked dangerously close to a grin.
"You think this is funny?"
Nina narrowed her eyes and knelt down dramatically.
"Do you have any idea how many credits your leash cost? Legendary material doesn't grow on trees, you know."
She sniffled for effect, dabbing under one eye with an invisible tissue.
