Hwan leaned against one of the cold temple pillars, arms crossed, frowning.
"This is so damn unfair."
He muttered under his breath, loud enough for a couple of passing priests to hear.
They paused awkwardly, then quickly averted their eyes and walked faster, pretending they hadn't heard him.
"She gets to meet the emperor like it's nothing, and I'm stuck here doing nothing."
He kicked at the smooth stone floor, frustration bubbling in his chest. But as the silence returned, he sighed, the weight of something heavier sinking in his chest.
"No, that's not it… I'm just worried about her."
He straightened up. He'd been pacing around for a while, restless. Every second that passed, he imagined worse and worse scenarios.
Nina being tricked. Nina being threatened. Nina, all alone.
No, he wasn't going to wait around anymore.
