Chapter 20 - Nine Against God

The smoke from the last battle still lingered. Craters burned. Rubble steamed.

And in the heart of the ruined battlefield stood one figure—unmoving, arms folded, eyes glowing with divine intensity.

Sultan.

Before him, the full might of the Hero Squad had assembled.

Vilex stood in front, bow already drawn. Frost stood beside him, twin ice blades glowing faintly.

Behind them, the rest of the squad emerged one after another:

Blaze and Dark Flame, side by side—fire radiating in two distinct colors: red and blue.

Superbolt, sparking with impatient energy.

Mega Panther, crouched like a coiled beast.

Thunderstorm, hovering above, lightning coursing through his veins.

Sage, floating with runes circling his hands.

Hi-Tech, suit whirring with advanced targeting systems.

Around the world, screens lit up.

In Ultra City's streets, civilians huddled near broken monitors.

Across distant cities, heroes and citizens alike held their breath.

The world was watching.

"You're all here," Sultan said, voice like thunder.

"Finally. All nine of you."

"You've lost," Vilex said coldly.

"Your allies are down. You're alone."

Sultan chuckled. "I am never alone. A god needs no army."

His aura surged.

---

Without a signal, the battle began.

Vilex launched glowing arrows.

Frost slashed forward with twin icy blades.

Sage cast a blinding spell of chains.

Hi-Tech deployed a phase disruptor net, laced with plasma threads, aiming straight for Sultan's core.

Sultan raised one hand—

BOOM.

All attacks were swallowed by a golden force field and hurled back.

Dust erupted as the first wave failed.

"You fight like mortals," Sultan said calmly. "I stand above that."

Suddenly, Superbolt shot forward, fists crackling.

Sultan met him with a swift backhand—launching him through rubble.

Mega Panther pounced, claws slashing Sultan's shoulder—halted mid-swing by an unseen force.

Then came Blaze and Dark Flame, charging in unison.

Red fire and blue fire swirled as they unleashed a dual inferno.

Flames twined and fused, spiraling into a blazing helix of destruction.

"Crossfire Spiral!" they roared.

The flame tornado surged toward Sultan, lighting the entire field ablaze.

Sultan blocked it with both arms—but the flames seared through his golden armor, finally scorching him.

"Impressive…" Sultan muttered. "But I'm not finished."

He spread his hands wide—summoning a divine quake.

The battlefield cracked apart, shockwaves flinging the squad away.

---

Vilex's communicator beeped.

Layla's voice came through—urgent, sharp:

> "Timothy, are you guys alright? Don't worry about bringing him in alive. If killing him ends this—do it."

Vilex's grip tightened.

"Copy that, Commander. Let's finish this."

Frost glanced to him. "Ready for final formation?"

"Not yet," Vilex said, eyes flicking to Blaze and Dark Flame.

"Let them go first."

---

Blaze's body burned brighter—World Cutter glowing molten red.

Beside him, Dark Flame's staff floated—blue fire surging wildly, eyes glowing with noble rage.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Blaze asked.

"Burn him till he begs," Dark Flame answered.

Together, they chanted—a combo technique only ever theorized between them.

"Solar Nova: Twin Sovereign Inferno!"

Blaze launched upward—fire wings spreading behind him.

Dark Flame spun his staff—forming a massive blue dragon.

Blaze summoned a red phoenix.

The two fiery beasts twisted in the air—merging mid-flight into a colossal fire deity.

It dove down on Sultan with a scream of fury.

BOOOOOOM!

The ground exploded in light and flame.

When the smoke cleared, Sultan knelt—part of his armor melted, eyes burning with rage.

He rose slowly.

"No one has ever wounded me like this…" he growled.

Dark Flame stepped forward, staff spinning.

"We're not done."

Blaze smirked. "Round two?"

But Vilex raised a hand.

"Now it's time."

---

Sage summoned portals—filling the air with arcane glyphs.

Hi-Tech's gauntlet flared—he surged nanotech upgrades across Blaze's sword, turning it into a plasma-fire hybrid blade.

Thunderstorm drew a storm so vast the sky turned black—clouds swirling, veins of lightning illuminating the heavens.

Mega Panther's body rippled with beast energy, claws sharpening to razors.

Superbolt vanished into blurs of lightning—circling Sultan at near light-speed.

The heroes attacked in unison—

Vilex's arrows tagged Sultan, glowing faintly.

Thunderstorm rained down bolts from the sky.

Blaze and Dark Flame struck from opposite sides.

Panther's claws found a vulnerable gap.

Superbolt's speed blitzes disoriented him.

Frost's blades froze his limbs, sealing his joints.

Sage sent a final binding rune toward Sultan's core.

Sultan dropped to one knee—armor cracked, breath ragged.

"You mortals dare…?" he whispered.

Vilex drew one last arrow—its tip glowing with unstable light.

"This is the will of the people."

He let it fly.

A final explosive arrow struck Sultan directly in the chest.

CRACK.

Sultan's body shook—cracks spreading through his armor.

The battlefield went silent.

Around the world, the watching crowds leaned closer—hearts pounding.

The final blow had landed.

---

Nine lights stand against a storm of divinity. Only one side will remain.
