"Are we leaving now?" Charlize and Hugo had just left the restaurant. Looking at the road ahead, Charlize asked. Only after speaking did she realize how bold and direct she had been, with a faint hint of reluctance in her words. This made Charlize avert her gaze. Luckily, it was already ten at night, and the dense darkness of the night helped conceal the slight blush of embarrassment on her cheeks.
Hugo's lips curled into a faint smile, the slight flutter in his heart making him want to smile, "If you don't have a curfew, I was thinking we could still go sit at a bar." From meeting at eight, enjoying dinner, and chatting along the way, it had quickly turned ten, yet neither of them noticed how fast time had flown by.
Chatting with Charlize was a very pleasant experience. Though she had the shyness and timidity of a young girl, she was mostly straightforward in her speech, carrying a kind of refreshing clarity like a spring breeze. It lacked the calculated give-and-take between men and women, and had more of the candid ease between friends. Yet at the same time, it wasn't without the spark of chemistry. It was a very wonderful process.
"A bar? Are you serious?" Charlize looked at Hugo in surprise, "Don't you know I haven't reached the legal drinking age yet?"
Hugo was stunned. He had genuinely forgotten. Though the Charlize before him was still quite green, far from the alluring queen she would become, Hugo never thought of her as the Charlize Theron seen on the big screen. She was just a simple date, which in turn made him forget this important detail.
"If you want, even if we don't go into a bar, that's fine too," Hugo's eyes lit up with a great idea. He could simply go to a convenience store to buy some beer, and the two of them could find a spot outside to sit and enjoy, "Or are you saying you've never had a drink before?"
Charlize immediately gave him a contemptuous look at his words, "Of course not. It's not like I'm some 'lady' who willingly obeys the law." She even emphasized the word "lady," making Hugo burst into laughter.
Although every country has a legal drinking age, whether high or low, young people always find ways to break that boundary and enjoy the taste of alcohol early. For instance, in America, although the legal drinking age is twenty-one, countless teenagers start drinking in high school, often more indulgently than adults.
So, half an hour later, Hugo and Charlize were sitting on the steps by the street, drinking beer in the sea breeze, enjoying a unique kind of "bar" vibe. In this biting cold wind, drinking beer was definitely not a wise choice.
Seeing Charlize shiver slightly beside him, Hugo took off his plum-colored coat and draped it over her shoulders. Charlize felt warmth flood over her, mixed with a faint masculine scent, but the wind was too strong to distinguish exactly what Hugo smelled like. She couldn't help glancing sideways at Hugo, "Is this your idea of a gentlemanly gesture?"
Usually, a girl would happily accept such a tender gesture from a boy, but Charlize was different. Hugo chuckled, "No, I actually wanted to pull you into my arms and warm you up manually. But I was afraid you might hear how fast my heart is beating, so I gave up."
Hugo's reply made Charlize burst into giggles, "Hearing you say that, I feel like we're sitting in the Arctic or something."
"You can try taking off the coat and see," Hugo raised an eyebrow helplessly. That expression made Charlize break into a radiant smile. She glanced at Hugo's thin suit and shirt, touched the thick fabric of the coat on her shoulders, then scooted a bit closer to Hugo. The two sat shoulder to shoulder as Charlize tried to pull the coat halfway over his shoulders too, but obviously, that didn't work—the coat slipped right off.
Hugo picked the coat up from the ground and looked into Charlize's eyes, "You're sitting so close to me. Aren't you afraid I might suddenly turn into a wolf?" He placed the coat over both their knees in front of them, which immediately made things much better.
Charlize looked at Hugo's clear eyes, warm and smiling. She pulled at the corner of her mouth, "Not afraid."
That instantly made Hugo pout, "You're challenging my dignity as a man here." He suddenly pulled Charlize closer, and the space between them shrank to less than a finger's width. They could clearly feel each other's breath. Hugo murmured softly, almost as if talking to himself, "You should know, when a man and a woman are together, even if just as friends, a woman shouldn't question the power of a man's hormones."
But that murmur made all the surrounding time slow down, and the temperature began to rise bit by bit.
That warm breath gently brushed against her lips, warming them from the numbness caused by the cold wind. Charlize let out a light laugh. That smile immediately dispelled all the cold around them. In the curve of her lips, the dark night faded away, revealing a dazzling glow that could take one's breath away.
Hugo couldn't help but lower his eyelids, gazing deeply into Charlize's green eyes. The charm and smile in her eyes were like mist slowly drifting through a morning forest. Shifting his gaze downward, her soft lips exuded endless seduction. Even though he had only drunk a little beer tonight and wasn't even close to being drunk, his head had turned muddled from the sea breeze. The effects of alcohol had been amplified and instantly surged into his brain. Hugo felt his head tilting forward.
At the same time, Charlize was also looking at Hugo. The smile on her lips involuntarily froze. Hugo's amber eyes were so clear they seemed to see right into her heart. That dizzying depth was like an endless abyss pulling her down. The ambiguous atmosphere exhaled from their nostrils and lips wrapped around them, slowing down all thoughts in their minds. They began to lean forward unconsciously, and even their eyelids felt too heavy to lift, slowly sinking down.
The distance between them grew smaller and smaller, until all their breaths intertwined. Their heartbeats amplified in their ears, that joyful and trembling rhythm spreading pleasure throughout their bodies. At last, when Hugo's lips touched Charlize's, the soft sensation instantly made them both lose themselves.
What was originally just a light touch ended quickly, but the beautiful feeling made them both irresistibly kiss again.
Their breathing turned rapid. Lacking oxygen, they had to reluctantly part, resting their foreheads against each other. Through slightly open eyes, they could see the blush on each other's cheeks and the restless shadows in their eyes.
Hugo didn't know how things had developed to this point. Maybe everything had gone too smoothly. So, at this very moment, what should he do? Continue, or use reason to stop it all?
Charlize wasn't sure whether what she had done was right. This wasn't her first kiss, but it was her first time sharing such an intense kiss with a man. It was also the first time she had such intimate contact with someone—yet he was a man she had only met for the second time. Charlize didn't know whether she should continue or stop here.
In their blurred drunken eyes was a faint glow. The other person's face radiated a kind of hazy light, as if it had infinite attraction, drawing the two of them closer. The beer wasn't strong enough to truly intoxicate them, but their emotions were amplified by the alcohol into something more intense.
Thus, Hugo kissed Charlize's lips again, and Charlize didn't resist. She closed her eyes and indulged in this beautiful moment. It turned out that just kissing could release such a wonderful feeling. It was truly a magical experience.
