Chapter 25 - Pandora

Pandora

A red-haired woman walked calmly through the green meadows of Ottery St. Catchpole, accompanied by two children. Around her, the landscape was peaceful: gentle hills, scattered trees, and a clear sky with no trace of smoke or crowded buildings like in the city. It was a charming rural areaalmost magical in itselfand her presence quickly caught the attention of the few townsfolk.

The locals watched them with curiosity, but also warmth, greeting them with friendly smiles as they passed by. After all, it was easy to tell they weren't from around there.

"Why did we come here, Aunt Wanda?" asked Hermione, now Wanda's magical apprentice. Ever since she had started her lessons, it had become increasingly common to see her alongside Harry and the redhead. In fact, it had become part of their everyday routine.

"Just to rest the mind a little," Wanda replied serenely. "It's important to relax from time to time."

Harry, for his part, looked around with wide, curious eyes. According to some magical documents that had recently arrived, most of this land belonged to him… or at least, it should. The goblins had nearly stolen it, which only increased his interest in exploring every corner.

"Mmm, alright," Hermione said with a slight grumble. For her, studying magic was more important than taking a walk. But if Wanda said so, there must have been a reason.

The three of them walked for a while, enjoying the soft breeze and clean air, speaking in hushed tones as they took in the pristine and silent scenery. There were no loud cars, no endless rows of identical houses, no gray smoke in the sky. Though they lived in a fairly private and quiet area, this felt different. Here, time seemed to stand still.

"Mum, let's go to that mountain!" Harry suddenly said, pointing excitedly at a nearby hill.

Hermione frowned, a little tired. "My feet hurt…"

"Come on, Hermione, don't be a spoilsport," Harry replied cheerfully, still full of energy.

Wanda smiled. With a light wave of her hand, she levitated both children, and then floated up herself toward the hill. There was no need to keep walking.

Once they reached the top, she gently set the children down. From up there, the view was stunning: rolling hills, crystal-clear rivers, small scattered cottages. The people in the valley below looked like ants.

But Wanda's gaze drifted and locked eyes with a woman sitting a few meters awaya blonde with gray eyes who watched her with calm curiosity. Beside her, a small girlalso blonde, with messy hair and the same dreamy eyessat playing in the grass with a bubble wand.

"Hello," said the woman kindly, raising her hand in a friendly wave.

"Hello," Wanda replied, and the children mirrored the gesture.

"We're having a fabulous day. Why don't you join us?" the woman offered with a peaceful smile, bringing her hands together with a theatrical grace.

The little girl got up and walked over to Harry and Hermione without any hesitation.

"Here," she said to Harry, handing him the bubble wand with no explanation.

Harry looked at Wanda, unsure.

"Sure, we can rest a little longer," Wanda said, giving him a gentle nod.

The woman seemed delighted by the answer. She drew her wand, gave it a small flick, and from her bag emerged a blanket that spread itself over the grass.

The girl ran over excitedly and threw herself onto the blanket before it even settled, laughing with joy.

"My name is Pandora Lovegood. And this is my wonderful daughter, Luna," said the woman as she lovingly ran her fingers through the child's wild hair.

"Hi," said Luna with a bright smile, her messy hair giving her a wild and enchanting look.

"Wanda. That's my son, Harry, and this is my student, Hermione," Wanda introduced calmly, motioning to the children now sitting on either side of her on the blanket.

"Such lovely names," Pandora said with genuine sweetness.

Then Luna got up again, walked back to Harry, took the bubble wand from his hands, opened it with serious focus, and blew hardfilling the air with iridescent bubbles.

"Now you," she said, handing it back to him.

Harry obeyed and blew more bubbles, while Pandora watched with a nostalgic smile.

"It was a gift from our neighbor Arthur. Luna loves it. Says he brought it from the Muggle world," Pandora commented softly. Then she turned toward Wanda, visibly intrigued. "By the way… may I ask what spell you used to fly? I've been trying for years, but it's harder than it looks."

"I've tried Levioso, Repulso, even Accio, but it all ended in disaster. My husband nearly lost his mind when I came back with half my bones broken," Pandora added, as if recounting a funny story.

Wanda stared at her silently for a moment, not quite sure how to answer.

"It's not a spell. It's something more like telekinesis," she finally explained, calmly.

Pandora's eyes widened, and she scrambled across the blanket, almost crawling, until she was right in front of Wanda.

"Telekinesis?" she asked with genuine fascination.

Wanda leaned back slightly, a bit uncomfortable. "Yes… something like that," she said, and with a small gesture, she levitated a nearby pebble, which floated slowly and hung suspended in the air between them.

"Wandless magic!" Pandora exclaimed, even more delighted, taking Wanda's hands in hers. Harry and Hermione watched with amusement. Seeing Wanda uncomfortable was a rare sightshe was usually the perfect image of control, calm, and composure.

Now they understood why Wanda liked making Susan nervousit was actually quite fun to watch.

"Oh! Right!" Pandora suddenly cried as if remembering something important. She turned and stuck her hands into her bagliterally. Half her body disappeared inside the sack, which was clearly enchanted with an extension charm. She rummaged with excitement until she found what she was looking for, mumbling with glee.

Then, Pandora pulled from her bag a large book bound in worn leather. When she opened it, the pages were filled with notes, strange symbols, and delightfully chaotic drawings. Some pages were even covered in colorful scribbles, clearly made by a child's hand.

"Here it is!" she said enthusiastically, pointing at a page filled with swirling purple ink and rotating diagrams. "If you teach me your flying spell, I'll teach you this one."

At the top of the page, written in glowing letters, it read:

"Jocosus Revelio" – A charm that reveals a person's hidden sense of humor. If someone is too serious, the spell might cause them to blurt out a spontaneous joke without realizing it, as if their subconscious escaped through their mouth. In extreme cases, it could make them see the world as a comedy for several minutes.

Wanda raised an eyebrow as she read the description. She didn't respond immediately, and Pandora, interpreting her silence as a rejection, gave a brief pout.

"You don't like it? Hmm… wait, I have more."

She flipped through the pages at high speed, leaving behind a trail of sketches, tea stains, magical symbols, and playful handwriting. She stopped at another one:

"Resonare Sentia" – A charm that allows emotional synchronization with another person, sharing joy, sadness, or calm directly and mutually.

"This one... isn't very exciting to share either, is it?" she murmured, mostly to herself. And she kept searching, until she stopped at a particularly messy page, covered in scribbles and silver ink.

"Portalis Externum" – Advanced and experimental enchantment. Allows opening a portal to unknown magical dimensions. Warning: destination uncertain. Return not guaranteed.

"This one is incomplete... we don't know where it leads or if it's even possible to come back. It's dangerous," Pandora said with a carefree smile as she pointed at it.

But to her surprise, Wanda gently placed a hand on her arm to stop her. "I like that one."

Pandora blinked. "Are you sure? I inherited it from my grandmother. I've sent small creatures throughfrogs and mice... they never came back. My husband nearly locked me in the shed when I tried it with a cat."

"I know," Wanda replied with an almost unsettling calm. "There's something... intriguing about it."

Pandora shrugged, accepting the deal with a nonchalant smile. "Well, alright then."

With an elegant motion, Wanda made a red notebook appear in her hand. Its covers shimmered with a faint enchanted glow. She handed it to Pandora.

"This is a basic treatise on telekinesis. I just wrote it," Wanda said casually.

Pandora's eyes widened in amazementnot because of the content, which she hadn't even read yet, but because of the magical fluidity with which it had been created. But she couldn't resist the unfinished spell. She pointed her wand at the relevant pages of her book, copying the notes with a series of expert movements.

"Exchange complete!" she announced happily, hugging her new notebook tightly. "It's like collecting rare magic cards... but better."

Meanwhile, Harry and Hermione, slightly bored of watching the grown-ups trade spells like collectible stickers, began running across the field, chasing magical bubbles and laughing with each pop.

Pandora looked at them fondly before turning her attention back to Wanda. Her gray eyes sparkled with enthusiasm and pure curiosity.

"Are you a magical researcher? Do you study artifacts? Are you interested in dimensional portals, or just broomless flight? Have you tried talking to plants? Some whisper at night if you give them chamomile..."

Wanda let out a soft chuckle as she turned the pages of Pandora's spell with genuine interest.

She might not admit it out loud, but that chaotic whirlwind of energy called Pandora Lovegood... she liked her.
