Chapter 7 - The Hour Inside a Second

70% Brain Power – The Time Within

"Time doesn't move. We do."

Time: 12:04 p.m.

Location: A silent monastery ruin hidden deep within the mountains.

• Slowing the World

He no longer feared pain. No longer feared being misunderstood.

But now, he craved absolute control—not just of body or thought, but of time itself.

And then, it began.

He noticed it first during combat training with a machine he'd built:

A metallic arm that struck at random intervals using compressed air.

At 70%, his mind left the timeline.

As the strike came, his brain entered an advanced processing state:

One real second became twelve mental seconds.

In that space, he saw every movement, every angle, every reaction.

And by the time the strike arrived, he'd already countered—mentally, physically, perfectly.

• Time as Thought

In this new state, he achieved:

- Hyperreaction : dodging bullets by anticipating their path.

- Thought Cloning : imagining entire outcomes and choosing the best one before acting.

- Mental Time Dilation : learning 6 months of knowledge in 3 days through speed-reading and immersive visualization.

He could live an entire hour in his mind, while only a minute passed in reality.

• The Power & The Price

But bending time in the mind had consequences.

Every second stretched burned more energy.

He began needing nutrients faster—burning calories like firewood.

His heart had to be trained to survive those intense brain states.

Still, he pushed forward.

"Time is a prison only for those who wait."

•The Shadow's Interference

That night, while deep in time meditation, he felt it again—

A sudden disruption.

Something tugged his thoughts out of flow.

A sharp wave—like interference.

Unnatural. Intentional.

He opened his eyes. One of his gadgets—his Neuro-Halo —was fried.

Too much psychic pressure had built up around it.

Then, a sound.

A frequency, not heard by ears, but by thought.

A voice not his own, whispering through the mental static:

"You're not fast enough."

He stood.

Eyes calm. Muscles relaxed.

But his pulse—alive with fire.

Someone was no longer just watching.

Someone was trying to slow him down.

• Final Scene

Far away, the boy in the shadows sat before a wall covered in moving equations—some written in ink, others in blood.

He watched a screen displaying erratic brainwave activity. The signal… was familiar.

He grinned—just slightly.

"He reached 70%. Good," he muttered.

He reached into a drawer and pulled out something wrapped in obsidian cloth.

The room darkened as the item was revealed—a neural disruptor, outlawed even in secret science.

"Let's see how long your time lasts."

The race has shifted.

No longer who reaches 100% first…

…but who survives the climb.
