Margot lay amidst a pool of men. They laid beneath her like they were her mattress. She yawned and stretched and as she moved to get up she was lifted from beneath by several of her "cushions". She looked toward the adjoining room. A noise had disturbed her sleep and she knew that it had something to do with him. They continually made bad mistakes but her mate, by far, was destroying everything they had ever thought to create.
Margot sighed.
"Where is Alpha Kristof!"
"He has gone to his study My Lady."
She yawned and sat up a bit more. Her backside resting comfortably in the small of some unknown werewolf's back.
Many of the weaker werewolves of Dark Howl Pack had been treated like this for too many years and this is why they were so willing to defect to Star Fire and Silver Moon Packs. They had been born to strong werewolves within the pack and to be reduced to this was humiliating for them and their sires.
Of course none of this mattered in the werewolf world and it certainly did matter in Dark Howl. If a werewolf stood up to and defeated Kristof today Margot would definitely proclaim him to he her Alpha mate. But the werewolves of Dark Howl had been cowed for far too long. None could bring themselves to believe that they could defeat Kristof. None that had not defected, that is.
There was a second explosion and Margot frowned. Fist because she now understood what had awoken her and secondly she had no clue as to what wad going on.
She was in Mystic Howl, only it and True Lake remained of their great cities and she was determined not to lose either. A third explosion sounded and the building swayed.
She was out of bed and on her feet moving to the door before the swaying stopped. She was first going to see what her idiot mate was doing and she was planning to kill him herself if need be.
Her guard and her cushions all followed her. She truly did not need a guard. She was a formidable shewolf but no one knew what was going on.
They quickly reached the hall with Kristof's lab and a acrid smell filled the air and burned their sensitive noses. The fourth explosion caused some of her entourage to fall to the ground. She swayed with the building for a bit before she continued on. Dense smoke rolled down the hall to meet them and the acrid smell intensified a hundred fold.
Her upper body transformed. Long silky emerald green fur grew around her face, gown her neck and over her shoulders. Her blue eyes became blood red and claws extended from her nail bed as green fur ran down her arms and upper chest.
She was furious.
Her foot came out seemingly casually, to lightly tap the thick metal door before her. Metal screeched as it gave way and bent deeply in half. She stepped through the entryway and into the blackened room. Kristof stood off to a side looking rather insidious. He had a maniacal smile plastered on his face and his eyes seemed wild with a multitude of emotions.
Several werewolves behind Margot began coughing and this brought them his gaze. They shuddered as they looked into his wild eyes.
"What is wrong with you?"
Margot stepped toward him oblivious to the destruction but careful of the grime around her.
She pursed her lips.
"You've lost your mind haven't you? You have lost whatever mind you had left from so long ago. You are destroying our capital city."
"I do this to save our pack. With this we will have Star Fire and Silver Moon. We will be there rulers of this entire area and then we can spread our borders again."
Margot just looked at him blankly. He used to have all types of ideas of conquest and they always excited her in the past. When they started out they only had twenty strong werewolves each from their parent packs. They had grown their branch quickly and they had undeniable strength.
The they had to go against Star Fire. She had said they should finish off Silver Moon and leave Star Fire alone. Kristof wanted to prove his strength and all he did was destroy their pack and allow their parent packs to know just how they treated their werewolves and the kin of their parent pack's strongest werewolves.
It had been a disaster.
Now he was trying to sell her again. Trying to convince her that he had not ruined their Packard their lives.
She looked to his experiments. She could not place all of the blame on him. She was bewitched by the idea of ruling the entire territory. No one pack had been able to do that in eons. It had always been ruled by at least two packs with both the Star Fire and the Silver Moon packs being the oldest packs in the valley.
"This is over." Her voice was low but her killing intent brought many in the room to their knees.
Kristof looked at her with an odd glint in his eye. "You sound like you are challenging me. He began transforming as he spoke. His jet black fur short and curly, shimmering with tones od dark blue and his eye crystal clear and colorless.
His transformation was complete and Margot raised an eyebrow at this even as she smiled.
"I am Alpha. I do not need to challenge anyone."
"I am Alpha as well and this is what I say we will do. I do not want to compromise or back down so you must challenge and defeat me to have your way."
Margot's eyes took on a deadly hue. "If I defeat you I will kill you. I am tired of this."
Kristof narrowed his eyes and smiled broadly, his fangs showing and drool gliding from the corners of his mouth. He crouched low and readied himself. He eyes taunting her to make the first move.
Her emerald green fur covered her body in an instant, even as she sprang forward. Her claws extended and her fangs bared. Kristof's hand deflected her even as her claws sunk into his face and neck. As he pushed her away flesh was torn away with her.
Kristof had healing in his blood and as he looked at her the bleeding stopped and his wounds began to visibly heal. He frowned as he could not heal them all the way. Margot's smile broadened as she threw his flesh from her claws with a violent shake of her wrist.
Her family delved in poison, along with other things. Her mother could create a poison for every occasion and she taught her daughter the same ability and since Margot had an innate ability towards making poisons she was a natural at creating new and more deadly versions.
She had long ago created a poison to counteract healing. She actually built off of and improved her mother's version of the poison.
No black, foul smelling blood dripped from Kristof's wounds and he could no longer heal them as deadly poison began to spread throughout his body.
"I told you long ago that you needed to improve your healing ability. I even said that you should build a resistance to poison."
Margot smiled as she slowly licked her claws. Bluish green viscous liquid dripping from her tongue.
Kristof roared, using a soul stun technique he created, and he charged at Margot enraged. Margot had only been stunned for a half a second but that was all he needed to take a large chunk out of her beautiful shapely side.
She growled as she clutched her side and quickly moved away. Each of their guard moved to protected them and they both ferociously called them off. They circled each other, both wounded, both looking for an opportunity to kill their soulmate and love of their life.
As Margot and Kristof fought to maintain Dark Howl Pack the only other city they tenuously held fell.
True Lake was now Silver Moon territory.
