Episode 91: "The Woman in the Capsule"
---
The elevator hissed as it rose fully into view. The woman inside, draped in a silver medical gown, stood upright though her eyes were foggy with sedation. Her arms bore scars—circular ones that matched the injection marks on Kara's own wrists.
Kara couldn't move.
"Mom…?" she whispered again, her voice trembling.
Adrian stepped forward cautiously. "Kara, is that really—?"
"She's alive…" Kara's voice cracked, disbelief and hope fighting in her chest. "All this time…"
The capsule door opened with a hiss, and the woman stepped out. Her expression was strangely calm, even as the alarms blared and lights flashed red all around them.
"I knew… you'd come," the woman said softly, her gaze locking onto Kara's. "They told me you died… that you were their greatest failure."
Kara's knees almost gave out. "You remember me?"
The woman gave a weak smile. "Of course I do. You're my daughter… you were born in fire."
---
High above, Dr. Vane's face twisted with fury. "She was never meant to be released! This ruins everything!"
He slammed his fist on the console. "Send in the sentries. Initiate complete lockdown—now!"
Across the facility, mechanical limbs unfolded from the walls. Sentries activated—sleek black machines armed with rifles and scanning beams.
Adrian pulled Kara back as bullets rained from above. "No time to cry—move!"
Ronan grabbed the woman. "You want to protect her?" he barked at Kara. "Then run!"
But Kara didn't move. Not until her mother whispered in her ear, "He took everything from us. Now it's time… we take it back."
---
The group ran through the hallways, dodging lasers and gunfire. Kara kept glancing at her mother, who, despite her frail look, moved like someone who had survived more pain than any of them could comprehend.
Seraphina hacked the next gate open. "Two more checkpoints! We can make it!"
But as they reached the lower tunnel, Zero appeared again—bloodied, limping… and alone.
"I'm not here to fight," he said, hands up.
Kara hesitated.
"You saw what he did," Zero said. "To you. To her. To me. I was his weapon. But now… I want to burn his empire to the ground."
Adrian stared at him, torn. "He nearly killed us all."
"And yet I'm the only one who knows how to get past the last gate," Zero replied.
A tense silence fell. Then Kara nodded. "He comes."
---
They reached the final blast door—thick, ancient, humming with sealed energy.
Zero placed his palm on the scanner, letting it draw blood. The door groaned, gears grinding after years of silence.
Inside—was the origin.
A chamber lined with capsules.
Each one contained people.
Dozens.
Hundreds.
Some looked like Kara. Others looked like strangers. All in stasis. All experiments.
Kara stepped forward, eyes wide with horror. "What… what is this?"
Her mother's voice was grim. "Project Lazarus was never just about controlling you. It was about replacing the world. One clone at a time."
Behind them, Vane's voice echoed through hidden speakers.
"You think you've won, but you've only peeled back one layer. You are not the flame, Kara. You are just one spark in a storm I ignited decades ago."
---
Kara turned to face the group—Adrian, her mother, Zero, Seraphina, and Ronan.
"We shut it all down," she said. "Every capsule. Every file. Every secret."
Zero walked beside her. "And we make sure he can never do it again."
Adrian raised his gun. "Then let's burn this place to ash."
They began planting charges.
This time, it was Kara who lit the fuse.
