Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Pure Warriors of Love

"Thunderous Roar - Eight Trigrams!"

Two days later, in the afternoon, on the outskirts of the Flower Capital in Wano Country.

Thunder roared, and the earth split apart!

Two figures, one black and one white, darted across the wilderness, spinning and maneuvering like the yin and yang fish.

At times, slashes flew horizontally, and at others, the Staff Aura howled.

Finally, with a loud shout, the black and white figures collided heavily!

The long sword and the Spiked Club clashed mid-air under the influence of Conqueror's Haki Infusion. As their eyes met, Caesar and Yamato could clearly see the burning fighting spirit in each other's eyes.

Boom—

A violent shockwave swept through, sending dust and debris flying across the ground.

Robin, watching from a distance, slightly turned her body and used her kimono to shield her face.

The next second, a gale roared towards her, causing her clothes to flutter wildly.

After a while, she finally lowered her arm. In the distance, Caesar and Yamato, having finished their battle, walked side by side.

Both carried their weapons, looking a bit disheveled, but neither had any obvious injuries.

"You two… is this how you usually interact?"

Robin's expression was complicated. This was the first time she had witnessed a close-up battle between Caesar and Yamato.

The terrifying destructive power that could shake heaven and earth was something she could never have imagined back in the West Blue.

Humans could actually achieve such feats with their physical strength alone!

But what shocked her even more was the fact that these two weren't just friends—they were a couple! Was it really okay for them to fight like this?

The Spiked Club aimed for the head, the long sword slashing towards the chest…

There was no trace of affection in their eyes, only a thirst for battle!

While others were pure warriors of love, you two are just pure warriors, huh?

Yamato laughed heartily: "Just burning off some energy after a meal. Viola, do you want to join?"

"If it's convenient, I'd like to ask the boss for some guidance on my martial arts."

Robin looked at Caesar. She had been training with Yamato in martial arts and Observation Haki recently.

Although only half a month had passed, Robin could clearly feel that compared to before, her appetite and strength had increased, and even her thinking and reaction speed had become more agile.

"Martial arts? Sure!"

Caesar casually tossed his sword to Yamato, rolled up his sleeves, and beckoned to Robin: "How interesting. Now I'm the senior who can guide others in their training. Come on!"

"Then, pardon me."

Robin assumed a fighting stance, then with a sudden step, her body shot towards Caesar, a straight punch aimed at his face.

Slap!

Caesar easily caught Robin's fist, and with a step forward, Robin swiftly retracted her fist and retreated.

"Oh? Not bad reflexes…"

Noticing Robin's reaction, Caesar nodded slightly: "Good, not greedy with the strikes, and decent power. It seems you do have talent in combat."

Caesar still remembered Robin's combat prowess when she first appeared in Alabasta in the original storyline. Back then, she could even knock Zoro's sword out of his hand using her Flower-Flower Fruit abilities.

Although it was a surprise attack, Zoro's grip strength wasn't something just anyone could overcome.

But after Robin joined the crew, her combat power took a significant hit.

The Flower-Flower Fruit ability allowed Robin to manifest parts of her body on any solid surface.

The advantage of this ability is that the strength is equivalent to the user's own, but the downside is that if the grown parts are injured or affected by the ability's effects, the pain and effects will also be reflected back to the user themselves.

If this ability were given to any martial arts expert, it could provide a significant advantage in combat.

Of course, Robin's usual spy-like usage isn't unreasonable either. If the two could be combined, along with the two types of Haki, Caesar felt that even just based on pure strength, she could easily have a bounty of three to five hundred million.

Whoosh—

A high kick swept past his face, and Caesar frowned slightly: "Try to avoid using leg attacks in actual combat, especially when you're unsure of your opponent's strength, unless you're absolutely certain of victory."

"These types of attacks have too large a range of motion. When your strength and speed don't absolutely surpass your enemy's, it's easy to expose weaknesses, and the techniques aren't as flexible and varied as arm movements, making them even less friendly for beginners."

"I understand!"

Robin nodded firmly, steadily advancing towards Caesar with each attack either narrowly dodged or solidly blocked by him.

"Why aren't you using your ability?"

Seeing Robin hesitate to use her ability, Caesar asked.

Robin hesitated: "I'm just worried that relying too much on my ability might hinder my progress in learning martial arts."

"You don't have to be so absolute about it."

Caesar shook his head: "Your ability complements martial arts well. You should integrate your ability into your fighting style, developing a systematic combat habit. After all, combat isn't a martial arts tournament."

"I see, in that case..."

Robin removed her Seastone Ring, suddenly giving a sly smile, crossing her arms in front of her: "Second Round—"

Whoosh—

A gust of wind swept by, and Caesar suddenly appeared in front of Robin.

One hand gripped her crossed arms, the other gently resting on her neck: "Your intentions are too obvious. Your ability doesn't necessarily require a wind-up, does it?"

Although she didn't understand what "wind-up" meant, Robin grasped Caesar's meaning: "Using gestures helps me focus better."

"Then make that focus a constant!"

As soon as he finished speaking, two pale arms suddenly appeared around Caesar's neck, tightly gripping his head.

Caesar's Armament Haki swept over, and the two arms instantly turned into petals and dissipated.

"Excessive Haki can remove some of the restrictions of Devil Fruits. You should remember this; for top-tier strong individuals, this method is ineffective."

Caesar smiled: "But you can work on yourself, like this!"

As he spoke, a large expanse of crimson suddenly emanated from behind him, the crimson color transforming into fist-sized heads, shimmering with a metallic sheen under the effect of Armament Haki, clustering like buds around him.

"Use your ability as an extension of your attacks, and it will also make it easier to extend your Haki."

Caesar suggested: "If you can master both types of Haki later, with the ability of the Flower-Flower Fruit, you should be able to develop more practical effects. For example, my Vampire Fruit's enhanced hearing allowed me to easily cover the entire Oni Island as soon as I awakened Observation Haki."

"If developed properly, Paramecia Type Devil Fruits can produce incredible effects. The direction of development depends entirely on the imagination of the user."

Caesar said indifferently, "Donquixote Doflamingo only ate the String-String Fruit, yet he managed to become one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea with it. In the hands of an ordinary person, that fruit would at best be used to sew clothes. In my opinion, the Flower-Flower Fruit is far superior to the String-String Fruit."

Yamato, who was watching from the side, seemed puzzled. "As long as your Haki is strong enough, the type of Devil Fruit shouldn't matter, right?"

"No…"

Caesar shook his head. "While Haki can indeed suppress Devil Fruit abilities to a certain extent, this strength is only relative, not absolute!"

Does Haki reign supreme above all else?

Perhaps, but Haki isn't omnipotent!

Roger's Haki was strong, yet when he fell ill with an incurable disease, he still had to die. But for a Devil Fruit user, that might not necessarily be the case.
