Chapter 19 - 18- Answer the Call (5/5)

{AN: So only the first paragraph of this one is AI. I decided to scrap the rest of it for a few reasons. Anyway, enjoy and I'll try to make a cycle for myself between fics from now on lol}

The flooded zone churned with unnatural waves. Metal debris bobbed in and out of view, half-submerged walkways leading to nowhere. It should've been quiet, a still lake disturbed only by distant violence — but instead, the water hissed, pulsed, and shifted with intent.

Takuma sat crouched behind a metal railing as the ship was pelted with all kinds of attacks. Pressurized water blasts, strange quills that shined as if they were laced with oil, even some things that resembled teeth cut through the side of the ship, trying their best to find purchase in at least one of the students.

But little did they know, there was only one student on the ship now, and something strange was happening with him.

Takuma...Takuma was exhausted. At this point he'd been fighting for at least a half and hour, almost constantly using a transformation that drained him far more than he would like to admit. And yet, for some strange reason that he couldn't comprehend at this moment, he felt invigorated.

When he knew he should feel an ache in his muscles, he felt as if he had done nothing more than a light stretch. Where he knew his fingers should have been shaking from the exhaustion, his hands were steady. And the area near his heart, where all his energy was usually stored, he felt a...refreshing force drift in.

Slowly, a soft blue mist began to rise from his hands, and he could see his veins glow an almost neon blue. "This...This is what I felt like that night, when my quirk awakened!"

New instincts entered his mind, almost like this new facet of his quirk was telling him how it could be used, and for the first time in what felt like ages, Takuma felt a grin spread across his face.

This wasn't one of those grins that was born out of anger, nor was it one born of joy, but rather the sheer relief that his quirk didn't require some great sacrifice to grow.

"I...I don't need to sacrifice someone close to me to grow stronger!" It was a completely illogical conclusion, but when the only time a child experience a new element of their quirk was when they watch their own sister die in front of their eyes, they tend to blame themselves before anyone else.

Takuma felt...lighter, like some invisible weight had lifted from his chest. But he knew he couldn't let it last forever- His peers were still in danger.

No matter how forced his enrollment in UA was, these were the people that did their best to protect others, the ones who dreamed to be heroes just like All Might-

Like Aoi.

Takuma let out a sharp breath of air, refining his thoughts into a sharp line. Midoriya and Tsuyu should be reaching the shore soon, and I can't lag too far behind them. I counted twenty seven down while I was fighting them, and given the differences in attacks there should be about twelve left.

This new element seems to be some form of water, and my instincts are telling me I can control it similar to metal or concrete. My transformation may allow me to emit it, and depending on how it manifests, I may be able to travel directly though the water itself.

He took a moment to stabilize himself, taking a deep breath, then he simply moved.

A burst of smoke took him out into the air, and when one of the villains hit him with water as expected, he shifted the transformation to water at the last second.

Pop!

Suddenly he was gone. His body didn't rematerialize like they expected, and the attacks that were prepared for him passed through the falling water, failing to hit their mark.

"Where did he go?!"

"Does it look like I know that, idiot?"

"Well, he can't have just disappeared into thin air!"

"I don't know, maybe he's capable of mo-" One began to say, but was interrupted before he could finish.

The others snapped into focus, suspicious as to why he would suddenly stop speaking, but when they turned all they saw was his unconscious body slumping into the waves, the water around him shifting unnaturally.

"What the fuck?!"

"What-" Another down.

And before they could even comprehend what was happening, one caught onto what was happening. He just so happened to be near the next target- the one with paralytic quills.

He felt the current shift under his feet, as if something had swam between them with a strange amount of speed. But what was really strange was when the next wave came. It crashed over his friend, making him duck his head, and from it materialized the boy, eyes glowing a malevolent blue, his veins lighting up even brighter as he wrapped his hands around the man's neck.

Then he was gone with the wave, having done something to render his friend unable to fight, even if he could still hear his heart beating.

"It's the kid, he can transform into water!" That was all he could say in warning before the next wave crashed over him, and all he could see was black, something strong slamming into the back of his neck.

One by one, the rest of the villains were annihilated. There was nothing they could do- none of them had any heat related quirks, and even if they did all he had to do to avoid them was to sink beneath the waves again.

Two minutes. That was all the time it took for Takuma to take them out, and by the end of it, he alone floated there, soaked and filled with an artificial energy he knew wouldn't last him.

But he still had work to do.

{AN: This transformation of his is still unnamed, and I was hoping for some help with that. It should be something that he could use for every element he could have-'could' becoming really important for the future, wink, wink~}
