Elera POV
At first I thought the garden was empty until I found Lyra sitting close to the stream still wearing her night wears.
I sighed and walked over to her side and sit down. We said nothing to each other but just stared at the stream.
"I was going to tell you Elera." She said with a soft but broken voice.
"Are you sure Kael did it?" I asked calmly.
"I can never lie to you Elera. We have come a long way together. I will not ruin my friendship because of some petty lies." She said.
"You have to understand the seriousness of what you are saying. I love Kael damn too much and with a child there will be serious trouble." I said to her.
"And then there is Dawson, who will fight tooth and nail to make sure that he acts irrational about the situation." I added.
Lyra turned around to face me, holding my hand after wiping off tears. "You are my best friend. We are not going to do anything possiblle to ruin our friendship."
"What do you want me to do?" I asked.
"A secret. We need to hide this away from Dawson. He must not know that the child within is for Kael." She revealed.
"And what if he finds out? We both know Dawson is a tough person and no matter how long you hide the truth away from him, he will always find out." I said.
"Leave that to me."
I was going to say something when we heard someone cough behind us, taking us by surprise. It was one of the pack soldiers.
"I am sorry to ruin this very moment but Dawson has arrived and he is in a bad condition." He said.
Lyra and I both got out to our feet and head out of the garden. We rushed inside the pack mansion and head over to the chamber, where Kael was already seated.
"Oh My God!" I screamed seeing his chest wrapped around with thick wool.
His eyes held pain.
Lyra walks over to his side and hold his hand. "Are you Okay?" She asked softly.
"I will be fine." He replied and turned to face me.
I couldn't look into his eyes. The guilt about everything happening was still stuck with me.
"You are hiding something." He pointed out and I raised my head to look at him. "The Elera that I know is usually calm. She tries to always do the right thing."
.
I turned to face Kael, who looked away in guilt.
"What is wrong with everybody?" He asked, after observing Dawson's mood as well. "I am still alive and I know we are going to find Willow when the time is right."
"It is not because of that." Kael said and I looked at him.
Seeing the look in his eyes, he was going to say everything to Dawson and panic sets in immediately.
"Kael." I called.
"Dawson. I know you will get angry after hearing this..." Kael said.
"Kael please don't!" I pleaded.
Lyra held fear in her eyes and just like me, she was also pleading.
"What is going on cousin. Why are they acting strange?" Dawson asked, directing his question to Kael.
"Lyra is pregnant." Kael broke the news.
"What?" He asked, turning to face Lyra. "You are pregnant?"
Lyra bite her lips and nod her head.
"But I haven't claimed you as my mate." Dawson replied.
"A mistake Dawson. We made a big mistake and now I think I am going to pay for it." Kael revealed.
"What are you talking about?" Dawson asked, squinting his eyes in anger.
"Lyra is pregnant for me." .
There was silence after Kael's revelation. I turned to face Dawson and his breath had increased. He suddenly chuckled and let go of Lyra's hand as he got up to his feet.
"I want you to repeat those words again." He demanded.
Tension was in the room. I made a gesture to one of the pack soldiers to be prepared, as Dawson was taking menacing steps forward.
"I am sorry." Kael said, looking up at Dawson.
He rushed forward and grabbed his neck. The soldiers quickly pulled Dawson away but he became aggressive, allowing his wolf take over.
"How dare you! I sacrificed everything for you and this is how you pay me back!" He roared and tried breaking free but the soldiers held him tight.
"Dawson please!" I said, rushing over to meet with him.
"Don't come close to me!" He roared.
His eyes was blazing red and his claws were out, threatening to slice through. Kael's large arm pulled me back and I turned to look at him.
"Allow me to handle this." He said and walked forward to face Dawson.
I was cautious because Dawson was dangerous and could do something irrational in split moment.
"It is not my fault. I don't even know how it happened but I promise you that we will compensate your wife and the child." Kael said with a calm voice.
Dawson was going to say something when Lyra clutched her stomach and begin to scream in pain.
"Lyra!" I rushed towards herside as she slowly drop to the floor. "Someone get the pack doctor!" I yelled and the soldiers rushed out of the room.
"Stay with me. You are going to be fine." I encourage as she keeps breathing hard.
"But how is this possible? She doesn't have bump." Kael said as we wait for the doctor.
The door opened and the pack doctor rushed into the chambers with a box in his head. He dropped to the floor attending to Lyra, while we moved away.
Even though Dawson was angry, I noticed the look of concern in his eyes. It could have been due to the mate bond.
"She is going to be alright. There is something strange about this pregnancy." The doctor revealed.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"There is no baby, even though she is pregnant."
