EXPERIMENTAL LOG – LOG 51

DATE: ██/██/████

LOCATION: Site-███, Testing Chamber Delta-7

SUPERVISING STAFF: Dr. Quinn, Senior Tech Specialist M. Reid

SUBJECT: SCP-████ (Null)

INTERACTION TARGET: SCP-914 – "The Clockworks"

BEGIN LOG

Overview:Today marked the first official interaction between SCP-████ (hereafter referred to as "Null") and SCP-914, one of the Foundation's most studied mechanical anomalies. Null was instructed to operate the machine under supervised conditions.

Purpose: determine if his anomalous properties affect complex, non-sapient SCP objects.

Procedure:Null was handed a standard copper coin and instructed to insert it into SCP-914's intake chamber. Setting: "Fine."

SCP-1471 was absent from the testing chamber, per Null's request.

Observational Notes:

00:00: Null places the copper coin into SCP-914 and selects the Fine setting.

00:01: Internal mechanisms begin operation. No deviation from baseline sound or process.

00:03: Output tray opens. Coin has been flattened and refined into a perfectly symmetrical copper disc engraved with microscopic precision. The disc now bears Null's SCP designation (████) etched cleanly in the center, despite no prior engraving or instruction to do so.

00:05: Null repeats process with a chipped lab pen. Setting: 1:1

00:07: Output tray reveals a fully restored pen—ink refilled, exterior smoothed, functionally improved. Foundation insignia appears engraved on the side. Again, unprompted.

Specialist M. Reid expressed visible confusion.

"We've done this test hundreds of times. 1:1 never does this. It's unpredictable, random... not refined. I don't think it's broken—I think it's listening."

Conclusion:SCP-914 continues to function, but the presence of Null appears to elicit obedience or cooperation from the object. Internal mechanisms no longer show signs of erratic output. Further experimentation will be required to determine if this is a universal response across all object-class SCPs or exclusive to SCP-914.

Additional Notes (Dr. Quinn):

He never even asked what it did. He just followed the procedure like it was second nature. I don't think he nullified anything here—not like how you'd imagine.

But something about his presence made the process… clean.

914 didn't misbehave. It performed better.

Maybe that's what "Null" really is. Not erasure. Not silence.

Maybe he's the calm between the chaos.
