After a heartfelt conversation with Yang Wei, Yang Wei hesitated before speaking. "Xiao Xiong, how long do you plan to stay in Tian Dou City? You're only eleven—be careful out there."
Yang Xiong smiled. "Thank you for your concern, Big Brother. I'm planning to check out the Spirit Arena and test my true strength."
Yang Wei's face softened with nostalgia. "I used to fight many matches in the Spirit Arena. As a power-type soul master, I performed quite well there. Unfortunately, after reaching the Soul Elder rank, I lost several consecutive matches and haven't gone back recently."
Yang Wei's martial soul was the Iron Sword, which gave him an advantage in attack power. However, now at level thirty-one, he had to face opponents at levels thirty-eight or thirty-nine, making victory nearly impossible.
Yang Xiong reassured him. "Don't worry, Big Brother. I know my limits. I won't participate in any death matches—just friendly sparring on the stage."
Yang Wei nodded. "You've always been independent, Xiao Xiong, but still, be careful on the stage. Soul skills are merciless, and those fighters can lose control and use any means necessary. Any tool is allowed on the stage."
"By the way, why don't you stay at Zixing Academy for a few days? We could train and cultivate together as brothers."
Yang Xiong chuckled. "Big Brother, our Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect owns countless properties in Tian Dou City, including numerous hotels. I plan to stay at a hotel—it'll be more convenient for rest and recovery."
Yang Wei rolled his eyes. "I almost forgot we're both inner disciples of the sect. And you, little brother, are a core disciple being heavily nurtured by the sect. Staying at a hotel is no problem, and even renting a villa in Tian Dou City wouldn't be an issue."
---
After leaving Zixing Academy, Yang Xiong went directly to a hotel affiliated with the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect. Upon seeing Yang Xiong's identity as a sect disciple, the hotel manager immediately arranged the most luxurious penthouse suite without charging a single coin.
Yang Xiong felt speechless. It seemed he was constantly enjoying the privileges of being part of the sect's nobility. No wonder the sect's disciples felt such strong loyalty—their attentive service was hard to resist.
Yang Xiong spent the evening meditating alone in the hotel. By around seven o'clock, he headed to his destination for the night—the Great Spirit Arena of Tian Dou City, the largest arena in the entire Tian Dou Empire.
The Great Spirit Arena covered an immense area, divided into over ten smaller arenas. Its total seating capacity exceeded 100,000 spectators, making it one of the most extravagant and famous structures in Tian Dou City.
After entering the arena, Yang Xiong carefully studied its rules before registering to participate.
All participants in the Spirit Arena received a badge, categorized by mineral quality. The lowest rank was the Iron Badge, representing an Iron Soul Fighter. Above that were Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Sapphire, Ruby, and Diamond, for a total of eight ranks.
Every participant started as an Iron Soul Fighter. To advance from Iron to Copper required accumulating 100 points. Winning a match earned one point, while losing deducted one point. If a participant achieved five consecutive wins, each additional win added ten points. After ten consecutive wins, each subsequent victory added 100 points. However, if a participant dropped below 100 points after advancing to Copper, they would lose their rank. Advancing from Copper to Silver required 1,000 points. Matches between Copper Soul Fighters awarded ten points per win and deducted ten points per loss. The bonus point system for consecutive wins remained the same as for Iron Soul Fighters.
In short, achieving high rankings in the Spirit Arena required consecutive victories—the more consecutive wins, the higher the score.
However, soul masters grew stronger over time. While a high-level Soul Master might dominate others within their rank, once they reached the Soul Ancestor rank, they would immediately face opponents at levels forty-eight or forty-nine. The gap between level forty-one and forty-nine was enormous.
Moreover, the Spirit Arena featured opponents with diverse martial souls and attributes. Some martial souls naturally countered others, greatly increasing the difficulty of maintaining a winning streak.
For example, a power-type soul master might seem invincible in terms of strength at their current level, but against a much faster opponent, they could easily fall behind.
Most soul masters specialized in certain areas—speed, strength, agility, or defense—and rarely excelled in all aspects.
The disparity between martial souls was even greater. Elite Beast Martial Souls and Weapon Martial Souls naturally dominated ordinary soul masters. For instance, members of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan often suppressed most other Beast Martial Soul users in battle.
Additionally, Spirit Arena matches were divided into three categories: Casual Duels, Wager Duels, and Death Duels. Each category varied in brutality and intensity. Matches could also involve one-on-one, two-on-two, or group battles, adding further complexity.
Yang Xiong approached the registration desk to sign up. A staff member quickly handed him a form, which included fields for name, soul power level, birthplace, martial soul type, and other information. After filling out the form, Yang Xiong received an Iron Soul Fighter badge. The back of the badge bore a unique number linked to his personal information.
There was one more detail: participants did not display their real names on the stage but instead chose a nickname. Only the Spirit Arena staff knew the identities behind the nicknames.
Yang Xiong didn't hesitate and chose the nickname "Supreme Overlord." Though he wished to remain low-key in this Douluo world, he still needed a goal to strive for.
His chosen nickname was swiftly engraved onto the Iron Soul Fighter badge, completing his registration.
Yang Xiong immediately signed up for a Casual Duel and patiently awaited the start of the match.
After a full half-hour wait, it was finally Yang Xiong's turn to compete. He donned a silver mask and followed the instructions to step onto the stage.
This was Yang Xiong's first time participating in a Spirit Arena match, and he felt a bit nervous. While he had visited the arena before, it had only been to watch matches with his parents. Actually stepping onto the stage himself was an entirely different experience.
As Yang Xiong walked toward the stage, his nerves intensified. The platform measured forty meters in length and width, providing ample space for even a Soul Grandmaster to fully unleash their power. This was a standard Soul Grandmaster-level battlefield.
The roar of countless spectators echoed around him, deafening and overwhelming. It sent tremors through his heart, making him feel uneasy.
