His father, a man who was not tall and not short but of average height. He was holding an object that couldn't see because it was obstructed by a white fog.
His father was a rather handsome man. A man who you could say was fit to marry someone as beautiful as his mother.
His situation changed again and then he saw everyone was at the table, happily eating the dinner that his mother and sister had prepared. Everyone chatting happily with each other like a normal family should.
'No... this isn't right. Something is wrong.'
He said inwardly but it like everyone had heard him. They all turned their sights to him. Grey suddenly felt small and tiny under his own family's gaze.
"Of course, I wouldn't expect for you to understand. After all you are still very young." His father spoke with a somber voice, his expression... solemn.
And so was everyone around the table, all looking at him with a somber expression.
Grey was now wary. "What is going on?" He asked still confused at what was really happening.
"No matter what happens, Grey. Don't forget the crystal shard. And please I beg you to forgive your siblings." His mother said with tears rolling down the side of her cheeks. His siblings were looking down. As if in shame.
'What the hell is happening?' Grey was utterly confused.
"Mom-m..." She did not finish though and interrupted him.
"Gods descent is not a calamity, it's a pathway. And when you ascend, make sure to take your siblings with you. We are the last... trust no one but yourself."
His mother had stopped talking and was now crying. Transparent teardrops rolling down her beautiful pale skin. He felt horrible seeing his mother cry, but he didn't know what was happening and even less at what to do.
'What is she talking about. Last of what? Why is my mother crying?'
His father took his mother's hand in his and together they began to dissipate into a red mist. His siblings had dissipated too, leaving only Grey at the table.
Before they fully dissipated though, he heard his father's voice one last time.
"Don't forget, Grey. We are counting on you." Then that was the last thing he heard before he woke up.
When he woke up, he saw himself still in the dark cave. The giant snake skeleton resting at the side.
Seeing the familiar darkness, he heaved a sigh of relief and sat up. By now he no longer felt fatigued by the crystal shard's recovery process. His hand had also fully healed now, with not even a scar visible on his pale skin.
"Ah, still pale and skinny. Just the way I like it." His voice was still cold and detached but was heard softly in the dark as a whisper.
'What a weird dream. Wait... was that even a dream. But it felt so real.' As if on queue, the crystal shard within his chest began to glow purple and a cold wave of energy assaulted his body.
But this time he was stronger than before so he didn't feel like he would collapse thanks to the cold energy. He then felt his mind being tugged to another place then he disappeared.
When the pull on his mind subsided, he saw himself back in the dark space. But this time, the odd man was not here. He had said that he would pass on his legacy to Grey before he dissipated.
This time, he jumped straight to receiving the techniques. His body spasmed as the cold energy went into his brain and a technique from the Great Void was being imparted into his memory.
After a few minutes, he had learned all the knowledge he needed to know about the technique and the dark space was crumbling again.
And before he knew it, he was back in the cave. His breathing was hard and laboured as he fell to the ground to catch his breath. It has been a hectic day.
'Am so confused.'
It really was a tiring day. From breaking through to the fourth level of Qi condensation, to getting involved in an unnecessary fight. To having a weirdly vivid dream, and now being summoned to the dark space to receive another technique from the crystal shard.
His body which had almost no decay point at the beginning was now filled with corrosive substance and before long he would have to take another pill.
He had also not eaten since his meal was turned into an undead which he later smashed to pieces and mutilated till it was unrecognizable.
"The corroded zones truly is a place for lots of events. Even with my strength I can barely keep up. And the corrosive substance might get to me before even the bizarre existences and mutated creatures can." He sighed solemnly and shook his head.
'Let me just wait for the sun to come down before I would go to the scavenger camp.'
He sat down cross legged and began to cultivate, eating some Pills every few minutes so neutralize the high level of corrosive substance in his body.
When he was fighting the mutated corpses along with captain, he had absorbed a large amount of corrosive substance coming out from them in the form of black fog.
Even healing with the crystal shard took spirit energy from the surroundings which meant that his reserves of spirit energy was spent.
As he closed his eyes and entered a semiconscious state, his thoughts grew calm and his mind was till. Making him concentrate on whatever came to mind.
As the sun began to descend into the horizon, his eyes flew open.
He took a look outside the cave and saw the sky changing to a warm glow. But that warm glow did not pierce the skies of the corroded zone, leaving everywhere grey and bleak.
The warmth of the sun could not be felt within the corroded zone but the imposing figure of the gigantic hand outstretched over the whole world could be seen even in the corroded zone.
The hand open and outstretched like the hand of an Almighty god ready to bring destruction and death unto the world.
But wasn't that what it is? To Grey it was a wretched disease that infected the whole populace.
Leaving everywhere dark and bleak like the skies of the corroded zone.
The sun may set and the moon may rise into the sky, but the hand would stay there in the sky... like a permanent part of their lives.
How he hated it.
