Shinx's POV
Finally. Peace and quiet.
"Shinx. Where are Artemis and Buneary?" Mother Eevee asks.
I glance back at her, then at the forest. "They went to get berries. Charizard's with them. They'll be fine."
Besides, Artemis is friends with practically every Pokémon in the entire forest. We have nothing to worry about!
Charizard comes flying back with Artemis on his back.
They're back already? But wait...
"Where's Buneary," I asked.
"Buneary was taken away!" Artemis cried.
"Who took her away?" Mother Eevee asked.
"A Teenager!" Artemis cried.
Mother Eevee's eyes narrowed. "Was there a taller human with them?"
Charizard shook his head.
"This confirms my worst fears..." Mother Eevee muttered.
"What is it?" I asked.
"A wild Teenager," Mother Eevee answered, her voice filled with dread.
Mother Eevee and I climbed onto Charizard's back. We can't let this wild teenager get to far away with Buneary!
Charizard flew through the sky with Staraptor leading him.
"I saw the two Teenagers running that way!" Staraptor chirped.
"There's two of them?!" Mother Eevee shrieked.
Staraptor nodded, keeping his eyes focused on the ground.
"There! Those are the wild Teenagers that caught Buneary!" Artemis said, pointing at two humans.
Staraptor and Charizard dove down. Charizard landed on the ground with a thud. The Teenagers turned around and looked up at us. One of them looked like he wanted to be anywhere other than here. The other looked angry as if a Gible stole her lunch. But both of them had dark brown hair and green eyes.
Neither of them have Buneary. So if they don't have Buneary, then where is she?
"Hey! You put that little girl down!" The angry Teenager shouted.
"Make me!" I hissed.
Morgan's POV
"I SAID PUT HER DOWN!" I demanded.
"EEVEE EEVEE!" The Eevee snaps back.
"Morgan..."
I shoot a glare at Timothy. "We can't leave her out here Timmy!"
Timothy sighed. "Yeah...I think the dragon would say otherwise..."
I turn around and Charizard had lowered its neck so that it was eye-to-eye with me.
"Where's Buneary?" The little girl demanded.
I put my hands on my hips and stared the group of Pokémon—and the little girl—in the eyes. "Seriously? Is that what this is about?"
"Where's Buneary?" The little girl repeated. "Did you kill her?!"
"What? No!" I shouted.
"Shi-Shinx," Shinx hissed.
Eevee shot a glare at Shinx "Eeeevee."
"You two are the offspring of the hunter!" The little girl accused, pointing a finger at me and Timothy.
Timothy raised a brow. "The hunter?"
Buneary's POV
Meanwhile...
I arrived back at the burrow. But no one was there. Huh. Let me go ask Glameow.
I run back into the forest, every Pokémon is looking at me as if I died and came back to life.
"Glameow!" I called.
Glameow stopped licking her paw. "Don't you see I have better things to do than– oh. Buneary. You... You're alive!"
"Well...yeah."
"Did the hunter's offspring not try to kill you?"
"No. But one of them tried to take me away."
The Pokémon of the forest gasped.
"Anyways, I need to know where Mother Eevee is," I said.
"They went to go save you from the Teenagers!" A Munchlax answered.
Oh.
"You should probably go find them before things may or may not get worse," a Starling said.
"Which way did they go?" I ask.
The Starling points her wing in the direction of where everyone went and quickly hopped that way.
"Good luck!" Glameow called.
Eevee's POV
Meanwhile...
The angry Teenager, Morgan, continued demanding us to give her Artemis. Going on about how she needs to go to a hospital. What even is a hospital?
And the other Teenager, Timothy, is slumped against a tree. And I wonder why Morgan couldn't be more like him.
Morgan stomps her foot. "Listen here! That little girl needs care and if I have to snatch her away from you! I will!"
Charizard had a protective wing held in front of Artemis.
"Morgan, I don't think they're gonna hand her over…" Timothy mumbled.
At least he gets it.
Artemis peaked from behind Charizard's wing. "I'm not going anywhere until you tell us where Buneary is!"
"I dropped her!" Morgan yelled back.
"BUNEARY WENT OFF A CLIFF!!!" Shinx screamed.
"YOU DID KILL HER!" Artemis shrieked.
"Hi guys!"
Buneary's POV
Everyone, and I mean everyone, including Morgan and Timothy, looked at me.
"SEE! SHE'S ALIVE!" Morgan yelled, gesturing her paws at me.
"But is it our Buneary?" Artemis asks.
"Ugh, seriously? Does it matter? There are other Buneary!" Morgan shouted.
"You're basically saying you can replace her family..." Timothy mumbled.
'Her?' Is Artemis a girl?
Morgan shot a glare at Timothy. "Don't tell me what I'm saying!"
Artemis looks at me skeptically.
I smiled. "I like twigs."
"That's our Buneary!" Artemis exclaims.
Morgan looks back up at Artemis. "Great! So now that your Buneary is back, please little girl, come with me so you can get proper care."
"Let's just let the Pokémon have her, Morgan. They are clearly raising her better than Mom would have..." Timothy mumbled.
"No!" Morgan snapped.
"Not without my family!" Artemis added.
Timothy's POV
I sighed, standing up and dusting off my pants. "Morgan, let's be real. Do you even know what to do with a four-year-old?"
Morgan turned to me, fists clenched. "Well, no, but I know she shouldn't be living in the woods with—" She gestured wildly at the Pokémon. "—these guys!"
I glanced over at the so-called family in question. Charizard was staring at Morgan like she was an annoying bug, Eevee had an expression of exaggerated offense, Shinx looked completely done, and Buneary… was chewing on a twig.
"Yeah. Real questionable parenting," I muttered.
Morgan groaned. "Oh my gosh, Timothy. This is a human child. She's not a Pokémon! She's not supposed to be here!"
"You're right," I said. "She's supposed to be with us, where she can experience all the joys of being ignored, neglected, and emotionally traumatized. What was I thinking?"
Morgan flinched. "Timmy—"
"Eevee, Eevee, Eevee," Eevee interrupted, standing up on Charizard's head. "Eevee, Eevoi?"
"What she's hearing is that you two—the offspring of the hunter—don't even have a family that properly cares for you," said the little girl.
"That is not what I said," Morgan snapped.
"Eevee!" Eevee snapped.
"She thinks that's exactly what you said," said the little girl.
Morgan threw her hands up. "This is ridiculous. I am not having a custody battle with a talking rodent!"
"Eevee," the little girl corrected.
"Whatever!" Morgan shouted.
