Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 : Her Task, Her Curse (Part 4)

In a quiet boudoir bathed in the silver hues of the moon, Sun Menglan stood before a tall mirror, her reflection casting a serene yet contemplative silhouette.

Clad in a soft white towel that clung gently to her delicate, soft breasts, she muttered to herself in a low, wistful voice:

"Menglan, oh Menglan… just a few more days, just a few …"

Her words, though barely audible, carried the weight of long-suppressed yearning.

Slowly, with a deep exhale, she let the towel slip from her body.

Her white, soft, and delicate breasts swayed gently in the still air, like cherry blossoms stirred by a spring breeze, eager to bask in newfound freedom.

Her voluptuous form, especially her thick and rounded butt, was the epitome of matured beauty—not the untouched innocence of a virgin, but that of a woman poised to embrace her full femininity.

Her pussy, juicy and soft, was lightly adorned with a delicate nest of fine hair, and her clitoris peeked out proudly, like a newborn bird breaking free from its shell.

She stepped slowly into a large marble bathtub, its surface glistening with steam rising from freshly drawn warm water.

Just as her slender hands reached to wash her breasts clean, her right wrist began to glow faintly.

The gentle light shimmered and pulsed until, in a sudden flare, a single golden thread sparkled across her wrist—like a lone star twinkling in the vast sky.

Her breath caught in her throat. Her eyes widened, then softened as realization dawned. Her expression shifted from shock to elation.

"It's here," she whispered, voice trembling. "The day has come."

Tears brimmed at the corners of her eyes. She had never truly imagined that the day she had longed for with all her soul would actually arrive. She was free.

The cage that had held her for so long had finally opened. The canary had taken wing.

"I've done it... I've fulfilled my promise."

Twelve years ago, she had been hailed as a prodigy among prodigies.

From a young age, she had surpassed every so-called genius across the Northern Region.

She had dreamed of traveling the world, challenging her limits, seeking wisdom and perhaps indulging in fleeting romance along the way, before continuing her path as a lone cultivator of greatness.

The previous Sect Leader had noticed her meteoric rise and had taken special interest in her.

Once she had reached the Nascent Soul realm, she was appointed as an elder—a rare honor, given her youth and inexperience.

At first, she had been grateful, believing it to be a genuine act of support from a wise senior.

But over time, she uncovered the truth.

The Sect Leader hadn't sought to elevate her out of goodwill.

She had wanted to bind Sun Menglan to the Frost Cloud Pavilion, to make her a permanent fixture within the sect's hierarchy.

The ambition was veiled in kindness, but Menglan had seen through it.

Determined to reclaim her freedom, she had confronted the Sect Leader and requested to resign.

Instead of accepting her decision, the Sect Leader had played the game of emotional blackmail—citing loyalty, responsibility, and the future of the sect.

Eventually, they reached a compromise: Sun Menglan would serve the sect for twelve full years.

After that, she would have the right to resign of her own accord and would no longer be eligible to rise to Sect Leader.

She had agreed, on the condition that she would be free to leave or stay after her tenure.

And now—

That day had finally arrived.

"From today onward, there will be no more Elder Sun," she whispered through trembling lips. "Only Menglan. Sun Menglan."

Tears spilled freely now, not from sorrow or bitterness, but from the overwhelming sense of liberation that flooded her soul.

"Hahaha! Menglan, you are free now!"

Her laughter rang through the boudoir, pure and joyous.

"No more sect! No more duties! No more decorum! No more endless meetings! Nothing but me and my life!"

She leaned back in the tub, letting the warmth envelop her body. A gentle smile danced on her lips as she stared at the ceiling.

"Now... only you, Menglan, and your world."

But just as her body began to relax and she let her mind drift toward dreams of faraway skies and untrodden paths, a sharp knock at the door interrupted the calm.

Startled, she sat upright, quickly wrapping the towel back around her body. Water dripped from her still-wet skin as she padded across the marble floor to the door.

She opened it—and there stood Chu Yao.

The young woman's eyes widened slightly before curving into a playful smile. She raised an amused brow.

"Elder Sun," she teased, "I didn't expect that you—the cold, ice-demeanored beauty—had such a girlish side. You do care about your body!"

Menglan returned the smile with a composed chuckle.

"Well, there's nothing wrong with taking care of oneself," she replied smoothly. "Besides... where can I possibly find a partner in this woman-only sect?"

Chu Yao waved her hands quickly. "Oh, Elder Sun, I didn't mean it that way."

Before she could clarify further, Sun Menglan raised a hand politely, her tone mildly curious.

"Miss Chu, I don't recall scheduling any meetings today—especially at this hour?"

Chu Yao composed herself, stepping forward with an unusual gravity in her demeanor.

"Oh, Elder Sun, you've misunderstood me. I'm not here for a meeting. I'm here to give you an opportunity."

Sun Menglan tilted her head slightly, intrigued.

"My bad... what did you just say?"

Chu Yao repeated firmly:

"I'm here to give you an opportunity."

A moment of silence passed. Menglan narrowed her eyes with growing curiosity.

"You want to give me an opportunity? May I ask—what kind of opportunity are you referring to?"

With a quiet confidence, Chu Yao walked into the room and sat down on a cushioned chair by the low table. Her gaze was steady as she delivered her words:

"Elder Sun, do you want to become the Sect Leader of Frost Cloud Pavilion?"

Silence filled the room.

Chu Yao's offer was more than bold. But it was part of a larger plan. By offering Menglan the title, she aimed to strike two targets with one arrow.

First, she could remove Chu Ying from power.

Though it's unnecessary to get her help for this.

The true motive lies in second objective,

she could secure a capable and trustworthy ally—one with integrity and skill—to manage the sect in her place once she married into the Azure Dragon Sect.

Among all the elders, her first choice had always been Sun Menglan. Diligent, wise, and unwavering, her character was beyond reproach.

Chu Yao now waited for her answer.

But the next sentence....
