Chapter 8 - Can he ever let go?

Sabrina laid on her bed and wept bitterly, she was too numb to stand. Her womanhood hurts, it burns her.

How could he do this to her? How could he be so cruel? She is innocent. She did nothing wrong. She isn't her father.

Yet he had taken her like a dog and strip her of her innocence.

Tears of anger, humiliation and pain, all mixed together flowed down her face.

She will never forgive him for this. She must get away from here, she has to leave.

Her father might be a monster but he is a bigger monster. A devil.

And if she doesn't find a way and escape him, he will destroy her till she becomes nothing.

She forced herself out of the bed, trying to ignore the burning sharp pain in her core, and dragged herself to her bathroom.

She scrubbed her body, scrubbed everywhere, harder than usual, she intends to scrub the feel of his hands off her body.

She felt dirty-- used.

" Monster", she cried bitterly as she scrubbed her skin intensively, not caring if it would redden.

She need to stop feeling his hands on her, she might lose her mind with how disgusted and dirty she felt.

Getting to her thighs, she winced in pain as she washed , trying to wash off the blood in between her legs but the pain was extreme, or maybe it was the pain in her heart. She doesn't know which was greater.

After over scrubbing her skin, she dragged herself out of the tub, a thin cloth of fabric wrapped around her body.

Out of fear of him coming back she closed the door from inside, her hands trembled as she did. She will live constantly in fear as long as she is here. This is her new life. And she is scared of the new life she lives in now.

She retired to bed, and cried herself to sleep.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Damon could not sleep, he had thought hurting his enemy's daughter would serve him a sense of comfort but he was wrong.

Her tears and screams had taken him back to those hellish years in the dark dungeon.

Sleep evaded him so he began writing and Interpreting his scrolls till dawn.

A knock came through his door shifting his attention from the scrolls laid down before him.

" It's me ", Lady Harriet's voice boomed, his hand halted on the writing brush .

Why was she here this early? He had the urge to send her away but couldn't muster up the words. He gave her the order to come in. She had purposely come this early to see him.

" Good morning your highness", she greeted, her head inclined slightly.

She was fully dressed .

" Lady Harriet", he acknowledged.

" You didn't sleep through the night ", she stated, taking in his appearance and the amount of scrolls laid before him. He had worked through the night.

" You should not push yourself. You might get ill", she said worriedly.

He kept mute, his expression blank as usual.

She sighed, " I'll have the servants bring some herbs, it might help with sleep"

" I don't need that ", he groaned.

She won't banter words with him, she will have the maids do that later.

" I want to see her ", she declared.

He knew she would talk about it. He was not wrong.

His face remained blank and expressionless but she knew something shifted in his mood. He kept silent

" The princess. I want to see her ", she repeated.

He tore his gaze away from her, and continued scribbling on the scroll. Ignoring her.

" She will be unhappy. She is royalty, a princess, she is not used to this life. I need to see and talk to her ", she explained.

" No ",

Her heart sank, but she won't give up easily.

" You've taken her to bed, your highness. The least we can do is keep it a secret. For her . A Princess should remain untouched till marriage. You know the rules.", She said exasperated. He stopped writing again

Time stretched, and silence filled the room.

" There might be war, if her father finds out. He will want to strike."

His silence snapped," I took her, she is my hostage. She is mine now. My property, her father knows what will happen to her the moment I claimed her."

" He might know but will he want to live with that humiliation? The princess Is the next in line after him.",

" He will do nothing, judrith is nothing without me now. I own him and Badrith. He lives on my rules not his anymore",he said "Be rest assured. There will be no war "

Lady Harriet sighed, she knows all this before, she is just worried, worried Damon will hurt the girl badly and he might lose himself in his dangerous thread of revenge.

" I still need to see her. Someone has to talk to her so she won't act out of order"

He stared at her, silent, his expression blank and unreadable.

" I'll have someone else do that, if you insist"

She shook her head," No, let me. Everyone, including yourself, hates her here. "

His brows quirked," And you don't?"

She gulped, "She won't survive here if everyone loathes her "

" Her father killed him", he stated flatly.

" Her father. Not her. From what I heard, the princess is nothing like her father", she defended.

Silence descended.

" You seem to have so much trust in her ", he said, a streak of anger centered in his words. It's her turn to keep mute now.

" He birthed her. That is just a facade, it's all pretense"

She gulped, "Let me be the judge of that your highness".

Damon lowered his gaze, pain searing through him. Why would she insists on seeing her? She is supposed to supports him, Moreover they deserve it. The princess and her father deserve every single ounce of his wrath.

" Okay ", he said simply, returning to the scrolls.

She heaved out a relief sigh and bowed gratefully, " Thank you your highness"

He didn't say a word.

" I'll be on my way ", she said, bowed lastly and walked to the door.

She stopped, " I am with you, your highness, don't think I'm not. I am. And believe me I despise judrith and his entire being for killing my husband, I want justice for my husband's death too. But I choose to be sane for you, if I let the pain consume me I'm afraid it won't be good. Your highness is already filled with resentment already, I can't do that too. Someone has to let go . I did and I hope you will too, someday", she said and walked through the door .

Can he really ever let go one day? This pain and hatred he carries within him everyday isn't the best feeling in the world but it was what his heart has mastered already. What his heart has felt for years.

He can't feel anything other than it. He has had no reason to.

So can he ever let go? He doesn't see himself doing that.

He noticed someone walked in, his gaze landed on Cole.

"Your highness", he bowed.

" What is it Cole ?", He growled.

" A letter came in from Badrith, they sent an envoy. They will arrive soon.", He said.

He nodded," Good, be prepared Cole. Judrith might have something up his sleeves ", he ordered.

" Yes your highness",

" Inform Indiana I summon her"

" On it your highness", he bowed and left .

His mind trained back to what lady Harriet said, could he ever let go and move on someday? What will it be like to feel something that is not pain and hate?
