Chapter 11 - Mysteries

Arthur and Lamia rented a house to stay in Minos.

The monthly rent was 4 Hera Silver.

This, to Arthur, was a small amount of money, because his mother had given him a large sum of gold before she fled.

But Arthur still hadn't accepted the rewards from the last time. He planned to get used to Minos, but he was also eager to see the rewards.

A chance to learn about divinity… and "divine physics." However dubious that term might be…

(System, what is divine physics, and what will it do for me?)

[Host, your divine physics is different from other gods. It is more beneficial for you because the system provides it. Energy will flow more naturally through your body. You'll be able to control your power better, and your body will undergo a permanent strengthening.]

(Ah, so it's a power-up. But these are useless against the chief gods... Anyway, System. Give me my reward, information about divinity.)

At that moment, a light appeared before Arthur. Arthur was suddenly blinded. He covered his eyes with his hands. Then, when he felt the light disappear, he opened his eyes.

He found himself in an area surrounded by countless stars. Before him, a red and gold orb appeared.

I decided to touch this orb-like thing. I felt a great attraction to it. But… the information that flooded my mind was terrifying. Seeing this, I knelt.

(System?)

[Yes, Host.]

(This… this can't be real. My life is hard enough. What's all this constellation nonsense? Is "Root" the reason for my divinity? What even is that?)

[You are not authorized for information about Root.]

(Damn it, don't leave me with mysteries, System.)

I kneel on the ground. It was as if countless eyes were watching me. Some truths about my world were revealed. But I only got a little information. Nothing more came.

That sphere gave me a chance to see Root.

There, I saw a tree. It was likely even wider than the known universe. Its roots formed the underworld of countless worlds. Each of its leaves seemed to represent a multiverse. And the trunk of the tree… felt as if it contained all authority and rules.

During this brief "glimpse," I gained countless pieces of information about divinity.

For example, my crimson lightning. The more it's comprehended, the more it can erase the divinity of others. This includes time and space.

My divinity of sky and war, it mutated, which is why something like this emerged. Even Zeus himself cannot use it at this level. While his lightning is close to this level, my lightning also includes the divinity of war.

If you destroy an opponent, you can obtain their energy.

Zeus cannot do this.

Ultimately, Arthur's lightning counts the destroyed opponent as war spoils. Because in war, the winner takes all… and Arthur does just that.

And as for this constellation talk… It's a completely jumbled system. Arthur himself still hasn't fully understood it.

But he understood one thing:

Olympus or Mount Othrys… they are all in another realm.

After all this information was processed, Arthur found himself back in bed. Lamia was still asleep.

Arthur leaned back and sighed.

A snapshot of "Root"… it had told him so much. What he saw was less than a second, but it had been very helpful.

Lamia was still lying next to me in bed. After what I saw, I don't know what to do. My chances of survival are probably less than 1%.

(System, I think I'm dead.)

[No, you are super dead.]

That was very motivating, thank you, System.

After Lamia woke up, she slowly opened her eyes and looked at me quietly: "Is something wrong, Arthur?"

I just learned about the existence of other gods. What's the worst that could happen? At most, Zeus would send me to Odin, and he'd experiment on me, I can't say that, so I said. "Nothing's wrong, Lamia."

I just didn't want to burden Lamia anymore.

I sighed: "It's nothing, Lamia. Come on, let's explore Minos."

Lamia also looked troubled, but she just nodded.

I put on my Murim robe. I really should name myself the heavenly Demon.

After Lamia got ready, we were walking around the streets of Minos when I suddenly saw someone with red hair. My inner celestial fire trembled as if it had seen its beloved.

The woman must have sensed me, too, because she turned around. When I saw her, time seemed to stop.

"Damn it, I think it's a chief god, and I can guess who it is." Lamia was looking at me as if she wanted to understand what was happening. I sighed: "Lamia, I'm going to count down from three, and we'll run together. Three, one!"

I grabbed Lamia's hand and ran with all my might.

Lamia shouted: "You skipped two, idiot!"

"Shhhhh, quiet, Lamia, don't get hung up on small details." Lamia and I entered a deserted alley and stopped there to catch our breath.

Lamia leaned against the wall, looking as if she wanted to understand what was happening: "Arthur, calm down, tell me what happened."

I was about to speak when a red-haired, blue-eyed, extremely beautiful woman appeared in front of me.

I hugged Lamia as if I'd seen a ghost. Lamia did the same. We were both scared to death.

The red-haired woman's lips twitched. She raised her hand and gently hit my head: "You must be Arthur."

I couldn't speak. After what I saw of Root, I was traumatized by the chief gods. After a minute or two, the woman spoke: "Yes, it must be you, Arthur. Would you like to stay at my house in Minos?"

I wildly shook my head from side to side to make it clear I was saying no. The woman smiled: "I guess that means yes."

Hey, woman, you know that means no. Is it fun to mock a mortal like me?

Lamia was like me and was caressing my head, taking advantage of the situation. Suddenly, I found myself in a very simple house.

The woman raised her hand: "Welcome to my home. I am Hestia. At my nephew's request, I have decided to host you here."

This was the final blow to Arthur, and Arthur fainted.

Lamia looked at Arthur, and then at Hestia: "You scared the child to death."

Hestia frowned: "Hey, am I that scary? Arthur just fainted."

Lamia said nothing and looked at the unconscious Arthur on the floor, then asked Hestia to show them where they would stay.

She put Arthur in bed, and then, like a snake, coiled around him.
