Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: I did say I’d let you go…

The moment those two men saw me, they froze. Eyes wide, weapons raised, their confusion quickly turned into suspicion.

The old man yelled, "HEY! WHO ARE YOU!? AND WHY THE HELL ARE YOU NAKED?!"

Honestly, a fair question.

But the strange part? I could understand them perfectly. I don't know how or why, but I wasn't going to complain. It made things much easier.

I raised my hands in the most non-threatening way possible and tried to act innocent.

"Hello! I'm lost in the woods! I smelled food and sensed people nearby, so I came to ask for help. Please, I'm in a desperate situation… I'll be forever grateful if you help me."

Instead of lowering their weapons, the two exchanged whispers.

"Sir Xender," the younger one said, eyeing me from head to toe, "I think this guy might be a runaway slave. I mean, look at how handsome he is—he has to be a slave. Probably from some noble's house. If we capture him, we could sell him in the city for good money!"

The old man chuckled. "You're right. He might fetch ten copper coins at least. Alright, let's grab him. We'll be rich in no time!"

And just like that, they both lunged at me.

Slave? Did they just say SLAVE?!

I felt a burning rage rise up inside me—hot, primal, furious. For the first time since I came to this world, I was truly angry.

They wanted to sell me like livestock?

Hell. No.

The fury triggered something inside me. My body twitched. My bones cracked. My muscles expanded. Snow-white fur began spreading across my skin as my height shot up. My hands turned to claws, my jaw extended into a snout. I had transformed into my werewolf form in an instant.

Standing before them now was no ordinary man, but a terrifying 7-foot wolf-like beast, with glowing red and gold eyes and sharp, menacing fangs. I looked like something straight out of a nightmare.

The younger man stopped mid-charge, frozen in place. The old man's knees gave out. I'm not joking—he literally pissed his pants. And then started backing away in sheer panic.

I let out a deep, bone-rattling howl that echoed through the forest. The younger man shrieked and also wet himself. Really? Both of them? That's just embarrassing.

I didn't give them more time to react.

I blurred forward—my speed was blinding. In a flash, I was right in front of the middle-aged man. One swipe, one bite, and half his body was gone in a single, brutal chomp. Blood sprayed everywhere. His corpse dropped like a ragdoll.

The old man collapsed to the ground, paralyzed in fear.

Just then, I heard a notification from Lily—the system—but I ignored it for now.

I slowly walked toward the old man, towering over him like death itself. He was still shaking.

To not scare him too much (and to get answers), I retracted the transformation and returned to my human form. Still naked. Still annoyed. But less terrifying.

I crouched beside him and tilted his face up to meet my eyes. The moment he looked at me—he fainted.

"…What the hell?" I muttered. I checked. "No, he's not dead. Just passed out."

With a sigh, I walked around their camp and found a spare set of clothes. They didn't fit well—pants were too short, shirt too tight—but hey, it was better than nothing.

I also found a few coins and supplies, then picked up the unconscious old man and carried him back to my cave. I needed answers, and this guy was going to give them to me.

After some time, I reached the cave and dropped him to the ground.

SMACK!"Wake up, old man."

"AHHHHHH!" he screamed, jolting awake.

"Oh good. You're awake."

He saw my face and immediately started trembling again.

"Please don't eat me! I beg you! Please let me go!"

I waved him off. "Relax. I'm not going to eat you… if you answer my questions. Be honest, and I'll let you go. Deal?"

He looked up with a bit of hope in his eyes. "R-Really?"

"Yes. Just answer truthfully. Don't question me, just answer what I ask. Understood?"

"Yes! I understand!"

"Alright. First question—what is the name of this planet?"

The old man looked genuinely confused. "Planet…? I don't understand, my lord! Forgive me!"

Okay. Either they don't have that concept… or he's just too dumb to know. Moving on.

"Fine. What's your name?"

"Xender Wallhill, my lord."

"Where are you from?"

"I'm from Greenwold City, my lord."

"Where is that?"

"If you follow the road west from here, it takes three days on foot to reach it."

Three days… hmmm...

"Tell me about your social structure. Do you have nobles, kings, clans…?"

"We are part of the Blackwater Kingdom, my lord. Every city is ruled by a noble family. Greenwold City is controlled by the Greenwold Noble Family. They handle everything."

"Hmm… So, how many cities in total?"

"There are seven cities in the kingdom. Greenwold connects to the Black Forest to the north, and to Fivetail City to the south. If you go beyond Greenwold heading south, it'll take around one month to reach Fivetail."

"Do you have any guilds or clans?"

"No sir, not really. No formal guilds exist."

"Okay, then tell me—how do I enter the city?"

"You just have to pay 1 copper coin at the gate. That's it. No identification needed, unless you're pulling a cart or carrying a caravan."

No ID required… that's convenient.

"Alright. That's all I needed to know. You've answered everything. As promised, I'll let you go."

The old man looked like he had just escaped death itself. He smiled and nodded in relief.

Then i removing my cloths and stood naked in front of the old man..

But then… he saw me start to shift again.

My bones cracked, my fur returned, and I grew tall once more—back to my wolf form.

His face went pale.

"W-wait! You said you'd let me—!"

"I did say I'd let you go…" I said, licking my lips. "But unfortunately, my wolf side still needs dinner."

"No, please—NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

He screamed, begged, pleaded…

And then there was silence.

After I finished eating, I heard the notification again:

[Consumed Human Meat: +100 Health, +5 Strength]

I stared blankly at the message.

"…What the fuck?"
