In an instant, Kadir managed to draw his bastard sword and parry the blow that the monster had delivered with its razor-sharp claws after lunging at them at high speed. However, the creature's strength was greater than Kadir's, who was forced to retreat immediately after parrying.
"Run, Ayman! Move! "
His brother did not need to be told twice and immediately sprinted away as fast as he could. He knew that at that moment he would only be a hindrance. He could not allow the great anger he was feeling to cloud his judgement; in battle, logic is needed and emotions must be controlled.
Meanwhile, the creature began to attack with great speed and force. Kadir was struggling to withstand the barrage of blows, despite being a Chosen of the Worthy Rank.
The monster in front of him was of Middle Rank, the equivalent of Kadir's rank among the corrupt creatures, so their physical abilities were very similar. Therefore, what would make the difference today would be purely the intelligence and fighting skills of the two opponents, as well as their determination.
Knowing that he could not defeat the demon with physical strength alone, Kadir began to retreat very quickly across the battlefield and started to take advantage of the rough terrain and obstacles created after the destruction of the square. The creature was very agile and managed to move skilfully between the obstacles, but despite this, it was slowed down by following the cunning movements of the human warrior.
The demon was much more instinctive and less intelligent than a human; in fact, thanks to this strategy, Kadir not only managed to skilfully evade the enemy's barrage of blows, but also to counterattack, waiting for the right moment. Although the sword blows were not lethal due to the monster's resistant carapace, they still managed to cause minor damage.
The monster soon lost patience and, blinded by rage, began to attack with much greater speed and force, but this did not cause Kadir any problems; on the contrary, it was to his advantage that his enemy attacked recklessly.
He used a large boulder, which had formed after the impact of the fireball, to circle around the creature, which had attacked him recklessly, and stab it in the back with his sword. The demon let out an inhuman cry of pain, but it still managed to turn quickly to attack Kadir. He tried to back away quickly to avoid the razor-sharp claws, but the monster was not only faster, its attacks also had a longer range. Kadir was unarmed, as his sword was still stuck in the demon's back, and its sharp claws were about to tear him apart. He had no way out, but he still had one trick up his sleeve: he stretched out his hand and activated his special ability.
A large ball of fire shot out of Kadir's hand and hit the enemy squarely, allowing the human warrior to escape the deadly attack. The creature was thrown several metres by the impact, completely engulfed in flames. However, this did not last long, as the creature got up and leapt forward, bursting out of the flames.
Kadir looked at the creature with a grim face.
"Damn it! Is a little luck too much to ask for? "
The demon's carapace had proved to be completely immune to the flames. Only the giant tongue in the centre of its chest had been burned, but it was already regenerating at an incredible speed.
The monster wasted no time and immediately lunged at Kadir, who, left unarmed, decided to flee immediately and take advantage of the environment again to avoid attacks, only this time the creature was much more determined to catch its human enemy and tear it apart with all its strength and ferocity. The obstacles separating it from its prey were all being destroyed, and Kadir's fire attacks were unable to slow it down much.
"Thanks for the affection, but I'm already married! My wife is enough for me! "
However, the creature was not at all interested in Kadir's inappropriate jokes; its fierce desire to kill him could not be suppressed even if the monster had understood human language.
Suddenly, under the relentless pressure of the enemy's attacks, Kadir made a mistake and tripped over an obstacle on the ground, falling backwards. The enemy's claws loomed over him like a guillotine, but at the last moment he managed to roll on the ground and get around the monster. He immediately took advantage of the opportunity to grab the sword stuck in the monster's back and activate the sword's spell, as it was actually a magical artefact. The effect of this spell was quite simple: it allowed him to channel his ability through the weapon.
The blade, still stuck in the monster's flesh, burst into flames and began to burn it from within.
The giant mouth in the centre of its torso let out a loud, high-pitched scream, so loud that it stunned Kadir, given the close distance. He dropped the sword and covered his ears, trying to move away, but stunned by the excruciating sound, he stumbled again and fell.
The creature was already on top of him despite the pain, its claws waiting for nothing else...
...this time there was no escape for Kadir...
