Chapter 5 - Ch. 5: magnesis vs ultrahand

"Well we either A.) drop down the ledges that are attached to the tower till we get to the bottom. Or B.) we use my wings as a transport but I'd probably only have enough strength to carry one confidently but it would leave you vulnerable to any monster while I get the other," I say as I look at the shrine. Zelda sighs and walks to the tower climbing case to the ledge below and we repeated the process until we reached the bottom of the tower. Helping Zelda and Mineru down from the last ledge, by catching them, we start walking towards the shrine. Passing the pond full of destroyed guardians and Zelda triumphantly catching a hot-footed frog, we stop when a blue ball of slime pops out of the ground in front of us. A jelly like blob with big yellow eyes slowly creeping up to us leaving smoking withered grass and marked stones behind noting its acidic nature. It jumps at us but I swing a branch hitting it away and tossing the remaining brittle pieces at it causing it to expand and pop leaving behind some jellies.

" Chu-chu's are mana in raw unstable form when they're monsters but when defeated the jellies left behind are harmless to the environment," says Mineru picking up the jellies and even biting into one slurping it up with a smile.

" My sister in law, Sonia, would throw fruit into various chu-chus and then pop them to get jellied fruits and other things for candies," says Mineru when she hands us the last two. I look at the jelly and shrug before slurping the substance. Sugar water would describe the taste of the jelly but the thickness is like those applesauce drinks, something thick but easily able to drink. Zelda tries biting hers but it pops like a water balloon splashing over her.

" Though external force such as a squeezing motion pops the jelly, " says Mineru snickering as zelda glares at her.

" That bit would've been helpful," says Zelda as she walks ahead of us and I watch her go. 'Damn what an ass' I think as I walk behind her while still looking at the surroundings for monsters.

Finally passing the pond filled with destroyed guardians , more like small lake, we arrive at the shrine. Smooth stone with decorative details glowing orange as we approach. Zelda tentatively holds the shiekah slate to the pedestal and the shrine glows blue before a door opens showing a small inside. Walking in we stand on a little platform that suddenly drops into the shrine. Instead of rock walls like you'd expect, if I didn't have the fore knowledge, it's blue hard light and an expansive room. When the lift stops we walk forward and look around the room.

Square room with two large metal slabs covering a hole in the center along with a pedestal and stalactite that seems to be made of polished crystal. Zelda walks up to the pedestal and inserts the slate and I insert my bracelet because I want to try something. It glows blue before the crystal starts moving with blue shiekah symbols and a tear drops onto the slate and bracelet. Picking up my bracelet as Zelda retrieves the slate a rune appears on both.

" Magnesis, the ability to move any magnetic metal object," says Zelda as Mineru sighs.

" Sounds like a cheap version of the Zonai's ultrahand ability. We could move any object no matter the size or property it was made of and could attach it to other objects," says Mineru as she shakes her head,"My brother made a bridge out of fallen logs one time and it could hold the weight of a loaded wagon."

" That does sound more useful than this," says Zelda as I nod my head in agreement. Mineru places her chin in her clawed hand as hums before snapping her fingers and saying," here Zelda, Kyros, I'll let you have the ability." She says as she places her hands on my bracelet and Zelda's slate. They both glow a bright red color and they gain the ultrahand ability.

" Hmm, I say activating the ability and lifting the metal slab up off the hole and placing it on the side of the room. Zelda grabs the slate and uses magnesis to move hers then tries again with ultrahand.

" You're right ultrahand is a lot better than magnesis and I can move it around by touching the slate's plate," says Zelda as I stare at her.

" Not fair, I physically got to move my hand and think and you get a drawing board," I say as I lunge for the slate," here trade."

" No mine," says Zelda blowing a raspberry and as I continue to chase her she activates the ultrahand ability on me sticking me upside down on the metal slab she had propped up. I deadpan at her as she laughs at my current situation along with Mineru.

" Hardy har har, now let me down," I say as Zelda smirks and says," what's the magic word?"

" Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," I say as they both just give me blank looks. " It means wonderful, excellent," I say rolling my eyes before saying," please let me down."

" Fine, hmm shake rapidly to unattach items," says Zelda as she grabs the metal slab.

" You wouldn't," I say as she smirks and shakes the slab and I go flying up into the air before I get shot by the guardian scout in the next room. Landing back down with a smoking ass, as my wing blocked most of the damage, Zelda and Mineru both laugh so hard they double over.

After they stop laughing, and I put out the smoldering embers of my boxers, we continue into the next room. Using the blocks as makeshift shields and dropping them onto the scout guardian. We collect the three ancient screws and proceed across the room using the blocks and the slab as makeshift bridges. Obtaining a traveler's bow from the metal chest, we open the giant doors and proceed into the last room where the shiekah monk is waiting.

Creepy bastards I always thought, as Zelda receives the spirit orb from the corpse that now blows away in blue particles. " Creepy," I say out loud as Zelda looks at the orb in her hand, the thing is the size of a lemon.

" You ok?" I ask as she shakes her head saying," didn't you hear the monk."

" No," I say as Mineru shakes her head.

" He said ' even though you weren't meant for these blessings of Hylia they now serve you more than they us.'," Zelda looks at us and continues," then what am I if I wasn't meant to have these."

" Well that bag of bones just signed his afterlife in torment for speaking like that to you," I say as I hear a small dark chuckle as I hug Zelda and continue," you're Zelda, a beautiful girl that may seem lost now but that just means you get to be whatever you want. Much like a baby bird takes flight for the first time and falls, so will you. But that means when you get back up you have the world at your wings."

" Thank you," says Zelda as I chuckle and say," don't mention it."

" No seriously don't, I have no idea if I heard that before or pulled it out of my hind end."

Zelda snorts as she laughs again but this time I get my chest covered in crying snot from it. After my quick bath in the water along with them, since we stink pretty badly, we leave the shrine and find it's now night time. I grab the slate drawing a "hey" from Zelda, I tap on the tower icon and we dissolve into light. Appearing back on the tower I immediately look over myself to see if anything important is missing, thankfully nothing was, I hear Zelda rush to the edge of the tower and empty her stomach's contents. I sigh before grabbing some stuff from the slate and preparing out meal of apples and mushrooms.

" Tomorrow we go hunting and forging," I say as Zelda walks back and nods.

" I agree, we know where the shrine's are thanks to the Tower but if we are to get to them we will need food, and especially after we get off this plateau," I say as they both nod. After the lackluster dinner, that's putting it mildly, we a settle into an uneasy sleep until I wrap them up in my wings.
