NZC Industries – Sofia's Office, Late Morning
The glass walls of her new office looked out over the city skyline, bathed in morning light, but Sofia barely noticed the view.
Stacks of reports sat untouched on her desk. A half-eaten croissant lay cold on a small plate, forgotten. She'd been rereading the same line on a financial summary for ten minutes, but her mind hadn't absorbed a single word.
Adam's voice still echoed in her head.
"There's more going on than you know, Sofia."
And then he walked away.
Again.
She leaned back in her chair, one leg crossed over the other, twirling a pen between her fingers. Everything about this office screamed power, success, and the future she fought for.
But right now, all she felt was kept in the dark.
A knock on her door broke her thoughts.
"Come in," she called, trying to summon her usual poise.
