Chapter 164 - Chapter 164: The Breakthrough

After leaping from the armored vehicle, Xiao Feng and Rush barely escaped as the vehicle erupted in a fierce explosion. The armored behemoth, having endured a relentless barrage of bullets and shells, finally succumbed to the withering assault.

Rush cursed vehemently, "Damn you, you're a madman! Knowing you must be my misfortune!"

Crouched low behind the wreckage for cover, Xiao Feng chuckled and retorted, "Knowing me is your honor, ha! Look to the skies..."

Above, the night air was pierced by the roar of several fighter jets—four or five—slicing swiftly across the heavens above Aidenway City.

From the darkness, a dozen figures clad in sleek gliding suits plummeted with terrifying speed, breaching the city's air defenses and descending upon the clustered armored vehicles below with unrelenting fury.

The passing jets startled the Alliance forces momentarily, but without launching a single missile, they vanished, leaving behind only those tenacious airborne warriors.

Draped in bat-like gliders, they unleashed a deadly volley of miniature missiles, each no larger than a bottle, cascading down like a meteor shower upon the armored battalion.

The ensuing inferno illuminated the battlefield with hellish brightness, bathing the city of Godo in a fiery glow.

Behind them, small parachutes deployed, ensuring their safe descent, as the soldiers in advanced powered combat armor swiftly raised their assault rifles.

These rifles, markedly more formidable than the standard issue of the Alliance troops, were scaled-up versions designed for devastating firepower.

With precision and ferocity, the mech soldiers formed attack lines and renewed their onslaught against the armored vehicles.

The fleeing Alliance soldiers, caught unprepared for such a merciless strike, were devastated under the mech warriors' crushing assault.

Rush glanced at the crouching Xiao Feng and remarked, "So you had this all planned out from the start."

"Of course I did—I'm no fool!" Xiao Feng said, rising abruptly before a sudden thought struck him. "Damn, my Black Angel's still in the vehicle!"

Without hesitation, Xiao Feng dashed back into the blazing wreckage. Moments later, he emerged, his entire body engulfed in flames. Even his profile was streaked with sparks and wisps of smoke.

Clutching a forged combat knife in one hand and a battered, bullet-riddled black case in the other, he approached Rush without concern for the flames consuming him.

Xiao Feng carefully opened the Black Angel's container, relieved to find it intact. He exhaled deeply, "Thank heavens, or I'd be heartbroken."

Rush quickly summoned his telekinetic powers, snuffing out the fire engulfing Xiao Feng. Despite his remarkable regenerative abilities, sustained burning would be perilous.

Discarding his charred shirt, Xiao Feng steadied himself and, holding the case and knife, strode toward the jeep where Lin was waiting.

From the passenger seat, Na Wei stared in disbelief at the battlefield unfolding before him. The arrival of these mech warriors had irrevocably shifted the tide of war—the Alliance forces crumbled in an instant.

Suddenly, a violent explosion shattered the West Gate's defenses, breaching the wall as several armored vehicles surged forward, unleashing a devastating barrage on the remaining Alliance forces, intensifying the chaos.

Xiao Feng yanked Na Wei roughly from the jeep, casting him to the ground with fury. "Damn you! Because of your treachery, I almost got killed!"

Lin, having watched the confrontation unfold, stepped down from the jeep and approached Xiao Feng. Gazing at the raging battle, he asked, "What do you intend to do with him?"

Xiao Feng smiled grimly, his burnt flesh slowly knitting back together, giving him a terrifying visage. "Kill him? I promised I wouldn't. I'm a man of my word—something you well know."

Lin nodded. "But letting him live makes us look weak. Look at you—you've been through a tank's wrath."

Xiao Feng still smiled, "Yeah, it hurts like hell. But I said I won't kill him; I never said you can't. It's your call now."

With that, Lin's hand conjured a gleaming ice shard from the ground, which slowly elongated into a majestic trident of pure ice. He smiled coldly as he brandished the weapon before Na Wei.

Anna, seated in the jeep, shielded her child's eyes, though K had long since grown accustomed to Lin's brutal methods and showed no reaction.

Na Wei struggled to sit up, glaring at Lin, "You promised you wouldn't kill me..."

Lin retorted, "You promised to take us out alive—who broke their word first, hmm? Don't lecture me..." With that, the ice trident thrust suddenly into Na Wei's chest, piercing three bloody holes.

Na Wei gasped, astonished that the icy weapon caused no pain, only numbness. Yet his blood ceased to flow, and his lungs stopped drawing breath. The freezing cold had sealed his innards in unyielding ice.

Xiao Feng paid him no mind; he knew Na Wei would meet a swift and agonizing end under Lin's hand.

A mech warrior approached Xiao Feng and reported, "Commander Xiao Feng, we are ready to depart."

"Just call me Xiao Feng—no need for formalities," he replied with a triumphant grin. "Let's go. Time to head back."
