Chapter 60 - Chapter 060: Your death will be a painful one

"Did the Black King find anything from the investigation?" Raymond asked calmly.

"I have to say, Dr. Raymond, your background is quite impressive. You're already a psychology expert at such a young age, and even got recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D.," Juggernaut said like he was listing facts from memory.

He paused, then continued, "If I'm not wrong, your ability probably awakened during your time at Clockwork Psychiatric Hospital, right?"

Hearing that, Raymond had to admit the Hellfire Club's intelligence network was pretty impressive. He couldn't help but click his tongue in surprise. "Looks like His Excellency the Black King really dug into my background thoroughly."

"You don't seem surprised," Juggernaut said with slight surprise.

"If you couldn't even find out these surface-level details, I'd have to question whether joining the Hellfire Club is a smart move," Raymond said with a shake of his head and a smile.

"Tch, you sure talk big…" Psylocke, who hadn't said a word until now, suddenly scoffed and looked away.

Clearly, she thought Raymond was just putting on an act.

In fact, not just her—Raymond could tell that even Carl and Juggernaut probably had the same idea, just not as blunt as she was.

"And who might this lady be?" Raymond asked Carl.

"This is Her Ladyship the Black Queen," Carl answered briefly.

He knew Raymond had already learned some basics about the Hellfire Club from the group he'd interrogated, so he definitely understood the meaning behind the title "Black Queen."

"So you're the Black Queen," Raymond said with mild surprise.

He hadn't expected Psylocke to be Juggernaut's partner—the current Black Queen of the Hellfire Club. Especially since the two didn't seem like a couple.

But considering the Black King and Black Queen didn't necessarily have to be romantically involved, he quickly let it go.

Still, no matter what her title was, Raymond couldn't let her question him like that. This would affect whether the upcoming talks could succeed.

So he directly asked, "Does Lady Black Queen think I'm just pretending not to care?"

"Isn't that obvious?" Psylocke replied coldly without holding back.

This young lady, with two powerful older brothers, clearly didn't plan to go easy on Raymond or spare his pride. She just said whatever she wanted.

Juggernaut smiled and tried to ease the tension. "Don't mind her, Dr. Raymond. She's always like this—even I get mocked by her all the time. She's not targeting you."

Knowing who Psylocke's brothers were, Raymond could tell Juggernaut was probably being honest. If he had two brothers that powerful, he might act even more carefree than her.

But Raymond also saw that Juggernaut was probably using Psylocke to throw some subtle warnings at him.

Playing good cop and bad cop was a basic tactic. If Raymond couldn't recognize that, he'd have wasted all his years of life experience.

So instead of responding to Juggernaut's comment, he changed the topic. "Since His Excellency the Black King investigated me so thoroughly, I wonder—did you find out how I left Clockwork Psychiatric Hospital?"

"You mean that murder case that happened the day you left?" Juggernaut was puzzled why Raymond brought that up.

When he received all of Raymond's important information, he had noticed that detail.

But he hadn't paid much attention, since the intel said it was covered up by S.H.I.E.L.D., so he had just assumed it was an internal conflict and didn't bother digging deeper.

"That's right."

Seeing that Juggernaut knew about it, Raymond didn't bother explaining further and continued, "The group that got killed that day originally came to cause me trouble. But they all ended up dead. Do you know how they died?"

"You're the one who killed them?" Juggernaut guessed.

"One-third were killed by me, another third by the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents sent to get me, and the last third... were killed by one of my fellow patients."

"What exactly are you trying to say?" Juggernaut frowned.

He didn't understand why Raymond brought this up now. He didn't care who killed those people—he didn't even know who they were. Why should it matter to him?

Still, he knew Raymond wouldn't mention it without a reason. He just had no clue what that reason might be.

Raymond, still calm and composed, smiled. "Interestingly, that fellow patient of mine might actually have a connection to you"

"A connection to me?"

"His name is David Haller. He was an adopted orphan. But I think you might recognize the name of his biological father—Charles Francis Xavier..."

As soon as that name left Raymond's mouth, Juggernaut's gaze turned cold and filled with killing intent.

Even though Psylocke and Carl didn't react as strongly, their expressions still shifted.

Of course they knew who that name belonged to.

In fact, any mutant who's been around for a while or joined any mutant organization would know of Professor X.

And as core members of the Hellfire Club, they definitely knew that Juggernaut and Professor X were brothers. They also knew that their relationship had always been rocky.

But what shocked them was that Raymond—a rookie mutant who had just awakened and didn't seem to hold a high position in S.H.I.E.L.D.—actually knew this much.

In the Hellfire Club, aside from the core members knowing each other's real identities, most members only knew others by their titles.

So when they met Raymond, none of them introduced themselves by name—they only used their titles within the club.

Yet Raymond could say all that, which clearly showed he not only knew Juggernaut's true identity as the Black King, but also had a decent understanding of his connection to Professor X.

This went way beyond what they previously thought of Raymond.

If they hadn't investigated Raymond beforehand, they might not have been so surprised. But because they had investigated him and thought they knew everything about him, they found it even harder to believe.

Because this meant their intelligence was flawed. What they uncovered was only what someone wanted them to see.

And to have just questioned whether Raymond was pretending or bluffing? That now felt like a loud slap in the face.

"I don't like being played with," Juggernaut said coldly, eyes filled with murderous intent. "If you can't give me a good explanation, I promise you… your death will be a painful one."
