Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Descent 3 final drop

"Due to the current circumstances, I've come up with a new tactic that we shall use, we shall attack from all available angles gaining access through the windows, another team will use the stairs to ensure we clean the place quickly and efficiently."

Ian shared his thought out plan with the squad, it looked efficient if one had enough firepower and manpower to pull it off simultaneously. He knew he could keep it up as long as there were zombies to kill.

"Each team will consist of team members each, team bravo and beta will receive an additional five teammates each, of the ten, one will be a heavy gunner equipped with a machine gun and a couple of fragment grenades. Ninety soldiers 9 teams dropping and busting through the windows. The tenth team which is Alpha will take the stairs, with one machine gunner supporting them."

Ian finished laying out his plan and waited for anyone with a question to raise it. General Stones was the first one to raise a question, clearly understanding the severity of the mission.

"Commander if you send all teams out at once, will they still have reinforcements coming in for support." He asked though he probably knew the answer.

"I will summon a team of Delta force and Marines to support and expedite our descent as more zombies are killed, so don't worry about reinforcements, any other questions." Ian asked.

"Sir what about the call signs for the other 7 teams." Stones asked.

"Aaah! That, I almost forgot," Ian pointed 7 special forces soldiers from the crowd, he had seem them try to direct the others earlier and thought to make them lead a squad in this mission.

Of the seven, three were American, two Asian and the other two European. The American there was Matt, Johnson and Killian for team Cobra, Viper and Anaconda respectively. Chen and Lin Zu for turtle and dragon, lastly Author and Philip for Rain and Snow.

"Damn that was hard, am really not good with names, I used up everything I could think of." Ian said out making everyone laugh out a bit.

"Okay the rest will be assigned to the teams after everyone has rested up."

"I didn't know giving out orders will be tough you know." Ian said to Vladimir who had approached him.

"It's hard at first sir but you will get used to it and it will became easier with more experience.

"I hope so, you know I have tactical mastery but I still haven't got the hang of it. The responsibility of all your lives hangs with me you know, I can't just send them out to their death that's why I summoned you two."

"It's okay sir, the fate of your world rests on your shoulders so we are honored to help you carry it." Stones who had joined in said.

"Didn't know you guys can be sentimental," Ian let out a chuckle.

"So you are planning on going down to the second floor tomorrow."

"That's the plan, we shouldn't get too comfortable here, my instincts tell me danger is close, very close. This world doesn't want us here."

"I short we are uninvited guests here." Stones said more to himself.

"Originally I was supposed to be here alone as a test, when I summoned you guys the world saw it as a conguest thus decided to limit my stay and if we overstay, let's just say we will be marked targets, pulling hords of undead our way."

The soldiers who had now turned their attention to their commander after hearing his explanation, now they understood and felt the gravity of the situation.

0800hrs, first light day three of the apocalypse world Alpha. Everyone was busy checking their weapons and ensuring they had sufficient munitions to sustain their last descent.

Today was supposed to be more than survival, they wanted their commander out of this forsaken place. Ian wasn't sure if he will be taken back with his army given the apocalypse on earth hasn't started yet.

It didn't matter whether they'll go with him or not, to them, their only task is to ensure he succeed and returns safe. Everyone felt their blood boil, adrenaline was rushing through them giving them confidence in their strength pushing away any form of fear that was formed in their minds.

The teams and their captains were ready to sacrifice their life if it meant killing more zombies. Ian knew they would not retreat once the mission starts, his heart was burning, all this people were ready to give their life for him without bating an eye. None of them would complain since they practically live for him, to help him when he needs them to and protect him at the same time.

Ian took closed his eyes, took a breath, opened his eyes again and looked at his small army lined up before him." I hate giving speeches but I guess this time I'll have to throw the hate away." He thought inwardly.

"Today gentlemen, ladies will face our final test and beat it with everything we have got. I forbid you from dieing, at the end of the day I want to see all of you lined up to celebrate our victory. It will be tough facing number ten times your own, the odds against us but today we win.

This world thinks we are here to take it's authority so let's show it we don't need it because we are the authority. Go in guns blazing, let the smell of gunpowder remain here for years so the inhabitants of this world will remember us when we leave."

He gave a salute to finishing his speech and the soldiers followed suit saluting back at their commander.

Earlier, Ian had bought

100 ropes =2,000 coins

8 machine guns =80,000 coins

500 magazines 30 rounds each =250,000 coins

50 barrel magazines =40,000 coins

50 glass cutters =15,000 coins

Total =377,000 coins

Remaining coins = 291,600

Now the teams were prepping for window access through the rooms two in each.

"All teams confirm status." General Stones radiod out.

"Bravo 1 to command Bravo team in position."

"Beta 1 to command Beta team in position."

"Viper 1 to command Viper in position."

"Fang 1 to command Anaconda in position."

"Cobra 1 to command Cobra in position."

"Flame 1 to command Dragon in position."

"Cloud 1 to command Rain in position."

"Winter 1 to command Snow in position."

"Actual to all teams drop when ready, mission time 8 hours use suppressors to avoid alerting more zombies. Let's meet downstairs after all this."

Teams dropped 2 floors leaving them for team alpha. Glass was cut silently and the first sound of suppressed gunshots whistled out. The unsuspecting zombies in the rooms falling before realizing what happened.

Ian watched as the notifications started coming in and pushed them aside, signalling team alpha through comms to move in to clear the stairs and move down. They would act as decoy for the zombies in the hallways giving the other teams time to leave the rooms to engage.

Ian materialized the guns, munitions and grenades for the teams to gear up.

"You guys move out and give support to alpha team," Ian picked out ten seals and send them downstairs. They picked and checked their gear and moved out after taking enough ammo joining Mark and his team as General Vladimir briefed them through comms.

He looked at the rest,"stay alert, you are reinforcements, you go in hot when needed."

"Yes sir," they said in unison standing in attention.

"At ease, get ready near the ropes two in each room."

They picked up their gear, ammo and grenades, checked if everything worked as they moved in position.

"Winter to Actual, do you copy."

"Go for Actual," Ian replied.

"Theirs an influx in number of zombies coming up from 62rd floor, we can't hold on for long."

"Copy that Winter reinforcements dropping in 2 minutes."

"Roger Actual, winter out." The call was cut.

"Seal team 2 drop to 63rd and provide support, Delta team 2 and 3 drop to 62nd floor, cut the zombie reinforcements from their, Snow teams gunner will bring support after clearing 63rd floor."

The three teams dropped to provide support to their mates.

Floors were cleared faster as the teams moved down the stairs and through windows meeting the zombies in the middle, machine guns shredding those coming up from downstairs.

Ian watched everything through the screens they had taken from the rooms and connected to the buildings cameras by the intelligence officers.

[Congratulations you have killed 200 zombies]

[Congratulations you have killed 50 zombies]

[Congratulations you have killed 300 zombies]

.....

....

....

Notifications kept coming in as more floors were cleared, he felt like he was in a dungeon.

Ian knew every dungeon had a boss and in this place, the boss was likely waiting patiently at the ground floor.

7 hours later the teams were now clearing the second floor, the place was large, five different access points in different places thus all teams were occupied. Though the numbers were thinning, they had been here for 2 hours doing nothing but shooting, Ian had to join in to provide munitions when needed.

30 more minutes and the zombies coming up could be counted by hand, they moved down to the first floor, cleared the remaining zombies stuck in the office spaces blocked other access doors leaving two, one entrance and the emergency exit incase the boss downstairs decided to surprise them.
